CFD for Water Treatment: Mixing Performance on Flocculation Basin

Comparison of mixing behaviour in a flocculation basin using two different mixer types: In the first case the installed mixers were of"paddle-wheel" type, in the second case two vertically aligned propellers were installed.
An inert tracer is injected at the inlet chimney to observe the dispersion over the tank.
Due to the design of inlet and outlet location, the generation of axial flow is essential to ensure good mixing behaviour over the entire basin volume.
