  • I got the Ozark Trail Camping Heater for Christmas, and I was pretty excited to fire it up. It couldn't have come at a better time considering my Mr. Heater gave out on me back in November during another trip. This Ozark Trail Heater packs some heat!

Most importantly, You didn't mention any safety features! Does it cut off when it tips over? Does it have the carbon monoxide oxygen detector?

If you search it it has the same tip over and oxygen depletion sensor shutofff as the Buddy.

That's definitely something important to consider. I'll pin this comment.

I’ll have to agree with you with Ozark trail coming a long way. I remember camping as a kid in ozark trail tents and we always got soaked in the rain. I went on a week long camping trip at a lake with my family last July and slept in a newer one and it kept me dry through a pretty heavy rain.

I had one for a while, but it finally gave out when it would only stay on for about 5 minutes. This one emits more heat, though. Let's see how it holds up.

@@thetrailoutthere what is hella clutch are those refillable propame tanks you can do at home. a few of those and you will save some bucks!

I just got an Ignik 5lbs propane tank to help with that. It's a little over $3 to fill at tractor supply compared to over $40 in green tanks for the same amount of propane.

Cool. I'll explore this some more. I have considered the Buddy Heater but hadn't snagged one yet. Am surprised Ozark Trail has this though so may well be worth it. I wouldn't sleep with either on though. Use it prior to sacking and when you wake would be the safest & most economical. Propane ain't cheap.

Mine works good. Hooked it to 20lb tank. I couldn't get 4 hrs on low with 1lb tank..

On your buddy heater, the one you threw away, did you run it using a larger propane tank like the 5 pound or 20 pound tank using a unregulated hose? If so, did you use a filter on it? So many people mess up their buddy heaters using a bigger tank and a cheap propane hose without using a filter. Those cheap hoses release oils from the rubber when under the higher pressure from the larger tanks. Those oils get in the tiny little supply lines inside the heater and clog them up. What I'm saying is most of the problems with buddy heaters are caused by user error.

Pretty sure it's a rebranded Dyna-glo HA10G. Also, I suspect all of Walmart's Ozark Trail products are rebrands.

I wouldn't trust my life to the main brand, let alone a knock off.
