Also Square Soft having a sponsor slot on WWE leads to one of my fave Tazz moments where they have the Ad for Final Fantasy X-2 and he's like "YEAH THERE'S YUNA" so bizarre hahaha
Having Rikishi be the guy who ran down Austin isn't a bad idea in theory, but they didn't really give him a reason or follow up in a way that made sense.
It's funny cause even when I was reading about it when I first got into wrestling I'm like so it's Triple H. Then finding out it was Rikishi I'm like really!? The thong dude that shakes his ass? They really didn't give him any follow through and the promo confession he did felt unnatural for the character and person saying the lines
literally all they had to do was explain the Anoa'i family tree's ties to the Maivia's/Johnson's and then it'd be like 'okay that makes sense, Rikisha is related to Rock so he did it to keep the belt in the family'
So, according to D-Von via an interview on _Insight_ with Chris van Vliet, Vince and Bubba both loved the idea of saying “Whassup?! *🤪😝* ” before the top rope dive, but at first he refused. Fast Forward to the planning stages for a match between the Dudleys vs. Rock and ’Taker, and Vince came up, tapped him on the shoulder, asks how he’s doing, he says great, Bubba’s just going over match details with ’Taker while they wait for Rock to show up so they can plan stuff for the match with him. Vince asks why he doesn’t do the “Whassup?!” on the top rope, and D-Von basically says he didn’t want to look and feel stupid and ridiculous for one thing, and for another thing, he forgot. Vince calls him out saying he didn’t forget. D-Von says, sorry, not doing it, and Vince says he WILL do it because he likes the idea and thinks it’s funny. That night, they have the match (taped 9/12/2000, aired 9/14/2000) and they did it and the crowd loved it, and to quote D-Von, “A vision was born.”. Just so the boys know I’m not BS-ing: ua-cam.com/video/LHJt_RYnOVI/v-deo.htmlsi=nUjg8yHYJewfoLfN I don’t know how busy y’all get, so jump to 28:36 for the discussion of that topic/question. It’s about 2-4 minutes. 😊
In Japan, MXc is just Takeshis Castle, and yeah its back, they have it on amazon prime. I think season two will be out next year. They were doing open castings for it but i missed the timing. Im thinking about signing up since i live here lmao
About fun ladder matches in games, Wrestling Empire goes crazy cause if you take a bump off it you ain't getting up half the time or you'll legit kill someone in career mode. The AI is insane hahah.
I am just reminded at how many outdatted/odd choice for attires they do in the games like in HCTP RVD has one alt where he has no wristape and in that game they also have unmasked Kane and it looks so weird since the model was supposed to be Masked which in fact they have it in the game. Then SvR has Edge no wristape nor elbow pads and I think was based on his early 04 return when he was jacked. Then finally DOR 1 had the worst Kurt singlet which is metallic red with the cheaply put on gold medal sticker on the back with the most basic text font for gold in the back too. Oh and Randy in DOR 2 had no wristape too like wtf...
Basically impossible to be current attire-wise unless its a live service game, which lets hope thats never happening, but the last couple of games has some troubling signs.
The first parasite eve was awesome. Was a Resident Evil Silent Hill type war game but the story was awesome the beginning cut scene sticks in my head to this day
Takeshi's Castle (MXC) was rebooted a couple of years ago, with an all-new cast. Takeshi (Vic Romano in MXC) made a cameo appearance The guy who played "Kenny Blankenship" is a politician.
Can someone PLEASE explain the Shane McMahon "asa timbalay" reference to me? Lol. I been binging these podcasts since i found Deadlock a couple weeks ago and I havent came across it yet.
Ohhh yeah honestly I was super freaking confused for a good few months lol. It's literally just playing his ministry of darkness music and when he starts chanting, it kinda sounds like asa timbalay.
16:30 Bruh, imagine being a lower midcard guy in kayfabe, you're not even at the show, and you find out the biggest star in the company just came for you for no reason. It's not setting up anything. 😂
Rock holds the belt till Armageddon, where Angle wins the 6 man hell in a cell, Rock wins it again in February and drops it to Austin at Mania. Edit: Angle won at No Mercy. The rest was still accurate.
@titod.7012 you're right. My bad. I had my doc set up wrong. ( it was best matches of each title run, I forgot that and didn't look at the actual date.)
This episode came out a year ago, so I went to look up the new joe schmo show they were talking about, and it comes out in like 2 weeks lol. I still won't watch it tho lol the first one was weird and this one won't be any better 😂
Given the amount of accolades WWE gave Benoit, I imagine at the very least they thought he was gonna be a horsework wrestling legend by the time he retired. Then what happened later happened, shit there were signs obviously, but whom would have thought things would go the way it did. Crazy to even imagine (even in 2004) they really went "yeah this guy...win the Rumble from no 1" and then at Mania they still went "you know what, win the title too. This specific stat won't bite us in the ass at all". Only Rhea matched it now, almost two decade later.
I know things have come out bout teddy but talk about a what swing n a miss if with the new hart foundation 😢love watching his clips so innovative but also cockiest person in the room
Parasite Eve was pretty dope. If you haven't played it give it a shot. It was one of those games you rent over the weekend and play it with your bros and eat pizza.
Meltzer pleading for Mike Awesome to be saved is beautiful lol
Gets thrown into the side of his bus
"Aw God damn"!!
Man wanted to start a telethon 😂
It's fascinating to see how far Meltzer has fallen from him here in 2000 to now.
@@CheezusChrist1776that’s what happens when you let the hype get to you
@@eastsidereviews727 buy out his Turner contract 😂
How the fuck did he not have a run in WWE least for a year or two is stunning
Something about James going "Get out of our company!" about Val Venis is always wholesome.
Also Square Soft having a sponsor slot on WWE leads to one of my fave Tazz moments where they have the Ad for Final Fantasy X-2 and he's like "YEAH THERE'S YUNA" so bizarre hahaha
This is going to be one hell of an episode.....ANDTHATSALLIGOTTASAYABOUTTHAT!
I like this stack of dimes you call a comment
What!?
@@gking2709or is it brother??
Having Rikishi be the guy who ran down Austin isn't a bad idea in theory, but they didn't really give him a reason or follow up in a way that made sense.
On the other hand, having Triple H being the man who orchestrated the whole thing was great, which set up a great rivalry with Austin.
It's funny cause even when I was reading about it when I first got into wrestling I'm like so it's Triple H. Then finding out it was Rikishi I'm like really!? The thong dude that shakes his ass? The hatred of Val Venis will always make me laugh.
"GET THE FUCK OUT OF OUR COMPANY!"
Mike Awesome would later found Channel Awesome, which was taken over by Doug Walker after he passed away
A Deadlock upload for Christmas? You already know.
The boys comin in clutch with this episode. Def needed this today. Thank you 🙏
This was an awesome episode of Raw can't believe this happened 23-years ago time flies this podcast is Absolutely Hilarious great stuff as always.
Val Venis' character in the Misfits in Action would definitely be named Colonel Johnson, General 'E' Rection's right hand man

MXC was a English dubbed parady version of the Japanese game show Takeshi's Castle.
Right you are Ken!
I swear I remember Benoit being mentioned as the guy who was supposed to have run over Stone Cold
that, "pick up the phone," from Pulse unlocked a memory Big Style lol
I miss old spike tv. It was nice having content for MEN and teenaged boys which i was at the time. lol

Fun Fact.... Man Show was originally a Comedy Central thing 😏
And the main show was just filler for what we all really tuned in for: Girls on Trampolines *😉😋🤤*

Surely Val Venis’ Misfits in Action name would have been Private Parts
Chris Benoit the rabbit warrior vs the sexist rattlesnake Stove Cold Steve Austin
We need a Jawnny Lauranitis comp lol
the stone cold and jr impersonations are great but my personal favourite is jawnny laurintis

Rock heard you guys ask if anyone tried the You Are! An Asshole! chant again and said bet
And also still being retroactively correct. Only the Rock could get away with it. That segment was censored to shit lol.

I thought it was The Nashville Network?
It was for a while, then it was renamed The National Network, then Spike & now Paramount has it as a channel under the same name apparently.
