Your Dad rocks at 91 :-) I also have a Boss and looking to upgrade to MGW shifter and need to remove ball with out damage. Hopefully I can salvage mine when removing.
Sometimes they can be removed without any trouble. My father's car never had the original but rather the digital. Some use a leather strap to unscrew the ball. Take your time and do not be in a rush and it may work out. I love the Boss 302s! They will be highly coveted in years down the road I believe. Thanks for visiting the channel!
