Happy birthday America, you sick son-of-a-bitch!!! Awesome 😎 How do you feel about doing some acoustic guitar stuff? My parents won't buy me an electric rig because I haven't spoke to them in 30 years.
I’m so glad i’ve found your channel i absolutely love everything you are doing. If you don’t already have it on your list, I would love to see a looks like rain lesson, that song has me tearing up every time I hear it, especially the Boston 6/9/76 and DP 18 versions. Looks like rain solos just make me feel something that not many other songs do. Such a beautiful song.
Love the lessons, Davvy. As a combined dead head/parrot head, I was wondering if you had a Franklin's Tower/One particular harbour on the horizon? Could get two birds stoned at once, so to speak.
I have to say,, You are my go to GD song lesson guy,, I've been playing for 29 years and haven't been able to play them correctly with all their nuances and whatnot lol
I think it is more that the song was always a fairly regular and predictable encore song. It doesn't really fit well elsewhere in a show, except maybe closing a first set. Opening a show with it every once and a while would've be interesting.
not to discredit anyone's deadhood, but if you're having problems with that intro, you need to check yourself. every single one of those words was real and true and its the exact kind of shit every hippie has been saying for years and if you disagree with it, then maybe the hippie culture isnt for you man. things need to change and sometimes change means speaking up about things. great lesson davvy
Thanks Davvy. While your intro may all be true in essence it is the economic apartheid that creates disparity in America. Regardless of our history the us constitution applies to all people that are citizens of this country. While we are free to be as we are others will always use that freedom to take advantage of others. Be self governing be kind.
Davvy you remind me of somebody I would meet in the lot or in nature back in the day Thanks so much for this wonderful knowledge and humor brother. And of course the songs.
I'm sorry, Davvy. Lemme get this straight, are you saying that McDonald's Nuggets are better than Wendy's Nuggets? Those are some fighting words (lol, jk). I really enjoy the content, man.
This is one of the few songs in the Dead catalog I've just never been able to get into, but unlike the others at least it's short and it sounded fun to play (which is why I assumed they played it a lot) so I'll give it a shot this weekend. Sometimes I like a song better if I learn it anyway.
Thank goodness for that fast forward button, that intro to the video was unbearable. Have more respect for your country, too many people in this world aren't blessed to live in such a civil and free nation.
At any rate, I love your lessons. I especially enjoy the song history you put into the lessons. Also, the encouragement! Very uplifting to start a lesson you think will be difficult (possibly insurmountable) only to hear, "Ok, this will be super easy..."
for a few years before the release of the mars album we all thought this song was 'wave that flag' and older bootleg tapes have it listed as such ... those were the days when the only place to hear some unrecorded tunes was to be in the hall while being amazed... and going' what the hell was that !! ' ..
Definitely awesome man, started watching a couple months ago learning songs left and right. If possible can we get a video for "Maybe it was the roses."
Stating facts about how our country was formed and how much money it would take to raise people out of poverty isn’t a “left opinion”. It’s facts. I don’t support any political party. I care about people. So, maybe do some thinking as to why hearing those facts triggered you before trying to project your insecurities onto me. I don’t care what anyone believes in. I do care about their well being, though. Have a good one.
You seem like a good dude. Ive enjoyed learning some of these songs from you. And you definately catch a piece of the Jerry vibe in your soloing. Thanks for the lessons.
Great lesson this song sit next to Born in the USA in my head. Any way speaking of Mars Hotel have you done a Phil song like Unbroken Chain or Pride of Cucamga
@@TobyDavvy who said anything about being triggered. Funny one of my videos from 18 years ago has more views than your total subscribers. Just saying 😆🫶
Lmao. Not much of a flex, homie. We may not have 100k subs but our videos do great and we make an actual living off of this channel. So while you can troll with your 7 subs and vids from 15 years ago, I’m laughing all the way to the bank. And you still watched the vid and you’re still interacting with it. All of which only helps us.
there's a career in comedy if you can't make it in music or maybe you can make some comedy in music kinda mix it up into a sum thing ..it all adds up eventually, sew it all 2gether , gather all the bits up..just don't let em byte ya in 2/4 or 4/4 thyme..yea, spice it up..ok, i ran out of tech talk language..lucky u..the part about the little phils..can't quite get that part, i only know one pal named phil and he's kinda tall..so thanks for the less on part...i just gotta get out more on that and meet more musicians and phillip or maybe just maybe go with calling big phils little phils..yea, that'll dew it 4 now, it's morning and i'm on 2 giant taco flotation devices 4 lunch...okie dokie..
Davvy you are the best! Love how you put the song and the holiday in context. One of the things I love about the Dead is they present a vision of America that I can feel patriotic about. Patriotism has been hijacked by the far right and makes people like me feel turned waaaay off by patriotic shit. My American flag isn't red, white, and blue, it's crimson, white, and indigo...
All time greatest Play Dead intro.

Thanks so much for that GREAT intro!! I'm all in Brother!!
Never understood why people referred to this as U.S. Snooze when they encored with it
I mean, that’s hilarious. But they just don’t get it.
I think its a ripping jam. I couldnt imagine being bored hearing it live.. especially circa 74 wall of sound
I think it is more that the song was always a fairly regular and predictable encore song. It doesn't really fit well elsewhere in a show, except maybe closing a first set. Opening a show with it every once and a while would've be interesting.
Badass intro should be a viral video by itself
This country has some bad fucking karma

Great lesson and intro spiel. Actually very on point. I love your channel bro! So glad I found it, even if a bit late to the party!
Davvy you remind me of somebody I would meet in the lot or in nature back in the day Thanks so much for this wonderful knowledge and humor brother. And of course the songs.
Very nice. Thanks. Is there a reason for the thumb-wrap on the E in the chorus?
Great lesson, but didn't need the political stuff in the beginning.
Im uncle sam thats who i am been hidin out in a rock n roll band-jerry garCIA
I can’t figure out the 0h2p0 in the into and I don’t know why
Hilarious !!! I fucking love it! Good song too

Props on the intro, Davvy.
Great lesson! Soapbox message was a conjectured mischaracterization of the American socioeconomic reality. But your lessons are absolutely spot on...
