Phil, like a dummy I took on a plumbing task on a Sunday at 5:00 P.M. I got stuck and found myself greatly frustrated and on the verge of calling a plumber. Your well staged and detailed video saved me an expensive plumber visit. Bless your soul.
OMG this is one of the best videos ever. There is nothing extraneous. No personality involved. It has clear directions with clear visual close-up demonstrations. Well, done! Thumbs UP!
I never really comment on videos, but I just have to say, "thank you", for making a video that just gets to the point and isn't packed full of BS. Every instructional video on UA-cam should use your video as the standard format.
I have reviewed MANY videos on this workflow and I must say that this is the first time that I completely get everything! Sure, I had the gist of it after the first video ever seen, but I'm the type that needs several opinions and viewpoints before I start a project. Thank you for this simple, baseline video which covered any questions that I may have had. Bravo!!
I feel like I've watched every sink-related plumbing video on the internet the last 24 hours and this is the best explanation and step-by-step guide yet. Thanks!
THANK YOU.... out of 6 other videos on same subject, this is the ONLY one who even mentions the tape that goes on the threads.... Isn't that kinda important? EXCELLENT VIDEO. EASY TO FOLLOW. DONE CORRECTLY. GOLD STAR.
Thats because tape is not necessary, its just an added precaution. I've never had to use it in all the sinks I've put in. If you line your pipes up properly and the joints arent under stress from not being measured properly, you shouldnt need tape.
Yes, I learned from a union plumber out of St. Louis Missouri. He uses both, tape and thread paste to make sure the union is secure.. There are a lot of people out there that will tell you it's not necessary, and that is almost true. However, when it comes to vibrations, such as a garbage disposal in the kitchen sink, the union can become loose. To fix this, use tape and or pipe dope.
Thanks to your thorough instructions I found out that the previous owners of my home installed that final piece using the wrong washer, fixed my problem easy.
This is the most perfectly clear video I’ve seen on almost any topic. I was able to perform my p-trap installation quickly once I realized the need for a marvel connector. Thanks.
Thank you!! I pulled apart everything under my sink and redid it all. Had one piece I didn't understand and this video walked me through it. Now I don't have to listen to husband saying "I told you to call a plumber "!
What an outstanding presentation! I loved the clarity (and the fact that no background music was used). Your description about the tapered washer fittings made all the difference. You made things so easy to understand. Thank you for sharing your expertise!
Thank you so much, lowes workers had no idea what I needed, and THANK YOU for speaking to the point instead of adding entertainment, very professional.
It sure did! I'm done and no leaks! I do teflon on everything lol! Makes me sleep at night lol, I also always apply my teflon before putting anything on so I'm not trying to reach but making sure the tape is going the way of the turn LOL!
I am a 66 year old woman that had never plumbed a pipe in my life. My husband did all that but he died and without proper funding I have had to learn take care.of myself I was getting so err lol watching videos reading book and still could not do this I watched his video one time Follow his clear directions and Boom it worked first time He is great
A LOT OF PEOPLE KNOW HOW TO DO THIS PLUMBING STUFF, BUT AS FAR AS TEACHING ( FROM 1 TO 5 STARS) I WOULD GIVE YOU 1000. YOU MADE AN ANNOYING JOB LOOKING LIKE FUN AND EASY. VERY BEST FOR YOU PHIL, THANKS A LOT !!!
This is what the internet should always be. No bullshit, great source of very useful information, no begging for subs and likes. You earned the sub and like the right way, cheers for the video.
Thanks for subbing, Gavin!!!! Hope you like my other "no bull" videos as well! I purposefully get to the point in all my videos. Either people like them, or they don't. Thanks again for watching, commenting, and subbing!!!!!!!!
Thank you so much. I have been waiting over a month for my landlord to repair my leaking bathroom sink. I watched many video's: This afternoon yours! The job is now complete. Excellent tutorial. Thank you.
Yeah, I put a survey out to my subscribers asking them if they would rather have music or no music if it was something that was this simple. Over 60% said they would rather have silence. I am practicing that now. Thank you for watching and commenting, my friend. Hope you like my other videos as well
Building our own forever home and doing it all myself... I've done electrical and carpentry throughout my life but never complete plumbing/venting.. this is the ONLY vid I have found that talks about a marvel connector! As simple as it is I had no clue how to connect my sinks and other drains to the main sewer drain until now! Awesome vid and thanks for the help!
Amazing video, this is day 3 of searching for clear instructions on how to install the faucet to my new sink with new plumbing. You’re the first video that ACTUALLY tells me what I need to do!
Excellent, just what I needed!! Thanks 🙏 so much! I subbed to your channel and look forward to more great content ❤ 64yr old female with no men to help and can not always afford a professional. I’ve done this before and needed a refresher! Thanks again and God bless you sir ❤
I openly admit that I am NOT AT ALL good at home repair projects. Zero talent in that area. But this morning one of the pipes under my sink became disconnected and for some reason I could not for the life of me figure out how to get it screwed back on. This video saved me big time. Thanks so much for the clear direction. Now I am walking around the house bragging to my wife that I am a plumber now! Hahaha! Thanks for making me look good!
I have wasted so much time watching videos that did not give the information I needed. Thank you. I can rest easy now, as far as this project is concerned.
Excellent.....just what I was looking for. Love how he added the graphic for direction to place the washers and identifying each piece by name. Thanks for taking the time to. Produce this.
This literally saved me. My sink started leaking at the trap and my roommate cranked down on those threads making it worse. I watched your video and was able to salvage the parts and assemble them properly. The washer had been mangled somehow. Leak is stopped! Going to the hardware store tomorrow to buy new parts and fix it!
Great installation instruction. My opinion is not use teflon tape, that is what the slip joint nut and beveled washer are for - provide leak tight assembly. Teflon tape may impede the proper tightening if too much tape is applied. Also just hand tighten, that is what the wings on the nut are for. Using pliers on plastic may tend to over tighten and break it.
Yep. Came in to say the same thing. The teflon tape doesn't help at all. If the gasket didn't do the job, then the threads won't either. In this coupling, once water gets past the gasket, nothing is holding it back.
Glad it was helpful! Thank you so much for taking the time to give positive feedback, Bethany! I hope you like my channel and it helps you out again in the future.
Excellent instructions, I am so grateful for finding your video today, allows me to save money. I feel confident and ready to take on the sink drain pipes. Thank you again!
Great video, direct and to the point. As far as the Teflon tape that there are so many comments about - it costs less than $2 for two rolls, it’s good practice and it takes seconds to apply. Kudos Phil, you’re a gentleman and a scholar.
Great video to be able to show anyone. I was looking for a video to show my kids had you would do it from scratch as I am only pulling off the P trap to snake the drain.
Very well done. I always have trouble with the way the washer goes on to the pipe. You made that very clear. And I like the idea of putting teflon tape on the threads to get a good seal. Thank you for your presentation.
Glad I can help, Stephen! The teflon is optional. I do it, because it's 'old school', and makes a tighter torque. Thanks for watching and commenting. Hope my other DIY videos are as helpful.
Wow. EXCELLENT VIDEO. Very detailed. NO OTHER VIDEO i've seen talks about the Marvel Connector. Great video! You should continue making more videos. Great job!!!!!
Thank you so much. Sink drain in my apartment started leaking around the p-trap and I was able to diagnose the issue and fix it after watching your video
Thank you for keeping it simple. Great step by step instructions. Just installed my first pedestal sink. I needed the plumbing instructions. Again thank you
So that's a rubber taper and that's how it should be. I literally plunged it down to the hole and now I know it should be like that. I just finished fixing my own sink and I looked into this late. Very thorough yet simple step by step tutorial. Thank you!

This was a beauty of a video. Who needs to listen to all these yahoos flexing their pecs and making jokes for 20 minutes? You did a bang up job showing how to do this job in under 5 minutes. Way to go, man!!!

Thanks, Luis! That means a lot to me!
@@PhilCrockett I just installed my new bathroom sink today and your instructions helped. So, thank you
Wow I was Struggling b4 I Found This Too, Bless You !!!
Kind of crazy that people make tutorials without these basic details.
Exactly.

Yeah, great video, but the threads don't seal anything. They only provide the compression needed for the angled gaskets to make a water tight seal..
