Climate change is expected to impact SA very seriously, yet there is very little coverage of this issie is the main stream press. Most global media outlets have regular segments on their media content on the isshe & a dedicated climate page on their website. Only Daily Maverick does this, indicating how little our the SA people are concerned about their future. We think things are bad now: extreme weather, increased poverty & hunger, water & energy woes, economic stress, healthcare strain, political upheaval, crime & violence especially against women & children. Climate change is going to exacerbate this 10x unless we start taking care of our environment, lifting communities out of poverty, preparing our cities & towns, strengthening our social support institutions etc etc etc. We cannot solve climate change, we can only prep for it & make adaptations for the worst impacts. And the sooner we start the less people will die. The SABC is supposed to be the main SA media & information outlet, so it needs to step up & start educating the SA public on what lies ahead especially if we don't start doing something about it NOW.!
