I trust you on this one. I seriously need to listen again to my precious copy of "Emadara". This album is very special to me, because it goes BEYOND despair. Jrock has always had a very serious issue to deal with, ie. how to transcend the Japanese society. Laputa probably gave the most compelling answer with "Emadara". XJapan, on the other hand, is the most vivid expression of this predicament. Basically, they are the embodiment of despair, lack of direction, creative infertility etc.
I was not expecting a reply. It is really hard to find people like you who seriously listen to them. Personally, I love the way the writer uses so many metaphors in Emadara without using any similies. It makes the songs really hard to understand but also adds to them a certain beauty that is oft seen in art. They have indeed presented Emadara in a really artistic way but how does it answer that question? I have never listened to XJapan so I can't say anything about them. By the way, Kagerou (the song) too has a lot of expressions of despair but I do not like the music as much. Have you listened to it? What do you think of it in comparison to Monochrome?
Kagerou is more negative (苛立ち 抑えたまま 静寂の中 たたずむ / 高く遠く羽ばたき 星座に還りたい) when it comes to the lyrics but the music is generally sweet and soothing (although amateurish...). The sweetness comes from this specific negativity, where the narrator eventually stays withing his/her innocent dream. Although from time to time bitterness does creep in... Monochrome expresses a most heartwrenching realization of the non-identity of reality ("what is isn't really, even the monochrome within and without") and the evanescent yet sensible truth of spirituality ("その先に見た あの揺らめきに何か感じた"). Either way, this is very heavy stuff. Philosophy has been battling with these issues for centuries and Laputa were able to give it a beautiful expression.
Found out about them because Aki is a fan of Dead End. Really great stuff, I wish I had gotten into them back in the 90s or early 2000s, but I had too much VK on my plate. :)
Dang, I'm late. XD I love the 2000's vibe to this, and the guy with the long black hair. I think I found a new visual kei group. Edit: Finally know his name. I love Aki's singing. Edit 2: Thanks to this song, I discovered an amazing band and my obsession with visual kei grew even more. They'll always be my favorite 90's vkei group. Thank you for everything, Aki-san. Rest in peace.

You must have never heard another rock/pop/jazz guitarist until that moment. If you want some master guitar check out Loudness, X Japan, Ayumi Hamasaki, Metallica, Blind Guardian, Coheed and Cambria, Avenge Sevenfold, HIM......
rest in peace, Aki... :(
Laputa!!
Such an awesome band. Shame they disbanded ;_; it would be so cool for them to get together and make music again
Love this track!
For lack of a better word, this song sounds so metaphysical, spiritual. Wow.
So are the lyrics, btw.
I like the lyrics too. Their meaning is so deep. About all of Laputa's lyrics written by the vocalist seem to have the same theme.

That intro riff is so fun to play on guitar

I love it. It has the handsome tall emotional guy feel to it. Lol
love this aaa
Eve was my favorite track on the album
excellent
yes 🖤
Pure genius from 3:33 until the end.
The guitar player is a mastermind genius.

@@morgaineroanoke3414 It's not the complexity. It's the vibe I am talking about. Iron maiden - Déjàvu is close one too.
