My husband ,being a child of abuse from his fathers beatings everyday from the time he was 5 until his late teens when he was finally big enough to fight back. My husband deals with the hate he has inside every day. I have seen his anger and have seen his pain . Some call him a monster because he fights back with out remorse . I see a hurt little boy screaming for some one to help him when everyone else turn their back and walked away and did nothing to stop what his father was doing to him.

I can see how he might be singing your version in both lines, though; do you have any official lyrics to point to?

This song resonates with me. As a child I was vulnerable and surrendered to my father who hurt me. I grew up to be a very messed up kid and did some terrible things. I had a warped mentality and view on the world and saw myself as just an animal among people. I later met a woman who gave me therapy to help me live like a person again. I'm still cold on the inside and I still feel very hateful. This song explains a lot of how it felt and how I still feel.

This balance between softer electronic sounds, chime, piano, etc, and harder sounds from the drums and a little bit of metal scream. And constantly shifting between soft and hard. Letting it build and subside, tropes from both rock and electronic, its just so fucking interesting and it doesn't stop for the entire song.
I love this song. It's my new favorite Starset song. I think this song would probably what I would point to if someone asked me to describe my struggles with mental illness. It just really articulates that internal fight better than I could hope to. It's more than a little cathartic. I can't wait for the rest of the album

this song perfectly encapsulates the way i feel about my trauma, and in some ways the trauma itself.
ill never be the same after spending one and a half school years in a special ed program full of abusive teachers. ill never be innocent again, for i know the pure, primal fury that comes when fear isnt an option anymore. the kind of overwhelming rage that makes you forget everything and fight, no matter how futile you know it is.
i still have vivid memories of pounding against the door of the solitary confinement room and screaming while a teacher stands outside, ignoring me or acting in some infuriating way i cant quite remember due to the nature of trauma.
they did things just to be cruel. stealing away every clock in the building and telling other students not to interact with me just so i wouldnt know how long until i got out of that hell. deadnaming and misgendering me because i """""""hadnt earned""""""" being called by my real name and pronouns.
i used to fake my period going through my pants or purposely induce it just to get out of there.
and i know i wasnt the only one suffering this. two other kids in my class regularly had freakouts just like my own. one of them punched a hole in the drywall.
even two years from then, when i go to an all special ed school where the teachers arent abhorrent people who abuse disabled children, i still have rage freakouts sometimes. it was happening less often last time i went to physical school, but it still happened. the fury from what the teachers at that hellish excuse for a school did to me still lingers, and i dont think it will ever leave.
i still have vivid memories of sitting under one of the folding tables in the commons, clutching my legs to my chest as hard as i could so they wouldnt have a place to grab me. so they couldnt immobilize me and throw me in solitary. that didnt stop them.
i know i must have done something to incite this, but i dont remember what. nothing i could have done would make me deserving of that hell. and yet, i would be a completely different person if i never went through it. its the pulse in my veins, its the war that i wage.
the words i have for the people who did this only exist in the language of violence.
but theyll never face the consequences of their actions. theyll never face the angry, broken people they made.
and that infuriates me more than anything.
There is no such thing as misgendering. You can't pick and choose your gender. There is only male and female. You are just a snowflake. Real trauma is having something awful happen to you. You just got put in a disabled class for being autistic and couldn't handle it. I bet you had meltdowns often and the teachers didn't know how to cope with you so treated you like an animal. Let's face it most autistic people are animals anyway because they lack self awareness that separates humans from animals in the first place.
Your generalisation of autistic people is misleading and offensive. I and most others will agree with the whole 2 genders/unselectable gender mantra (which has been argued to the point of idiocy on behalf of those who refute it). However most autistic people who reside lower on the spectrum (e.g aspergic individuals) are very much capable of handling complex social situations and do not require any additional learning support typically beyond primary school (and actually are often more capable in some aspects - usually in numeric-based subjects - when compared to neurotypical individuals). This is however assuming they are raised correctly and with a proper adaptable mindset, which I assume is most likely not the case for the person who started the comment thread.

At the start of your comment I could relate somewhat then I continued reading and began thinking "I thought *my* trauma was bad!" Then I read more and my shock at what I was reading began to further grow but mix in with rage, all while empathy slipped in and I began to cry trying to imagine the hell you went through. I thought my trauma caused by years of relentless bullying, ignorant adults and a couple of nasty teachers was bad but you had it way worse I'm so sorry you had to go through that. You deserved so much better.

This song hits so close to home for me. As a kid, I wanted to be a hero when I grew up. I even joined the military. Don’t get me wrong, I’ve helped so many people out. I’ve saved peoples lives and career’s. But just because you’re a hero in others peoples eyes doesn’t mean you’re a hero in your own eyes. I’ve messed up so much in my personal life. The girl I’ve loved my entire life dumped me because I couldn’t be there for her 24/7. I didn’t get high enough GPA or SAT to get accepted into a scholarship program that I needed because I was too busy with tutoring others in classes I was exceptionally good at. My car broke down bad and I don’t get payed enough to actually sustain myself let alone fix my car. I’ve been ignoring my problems for so long that my own soul was slowly being hollowed out. You can dream about being a hero, but don’t become one unless you are willing to sacrifice

Whenever I listen to this song, I always imagine a person talking to themselves about how they or somebody within them turned themselves into this "monster" they see themselves as now, but can never find a conclusion to who did it. But, eventually put it aside and just try to resolve their other problems with each other
As a person who was hurt in love many many years ago, this song speaks to my internal beliefs really well.

Recovery is always an uphill battle, and I still stumble occasionally, I still have some pushing to do, but I can honestly say that I am happy. That my mental health is stable and that I can overcome the rougher patches in my life, whatever they may be. It does get better, it really, truly does.

Seeing Starset in a few hours, so pumped.
Starset may be my absolute favorite band.
A lot of songs like this give me inspiration for a movie scene.
Like at the beginning it's a guy in a motel room staring at abmirror with flash backs to a huge argument with a girl and it keeps cutting between the two moments and the guy is throwing things around his motel room in anger. Then when the song reaches its chorus he is leaving the motel and jumping in his car driving in the dark and getting stuck in traffic so he hits the steering wheel in frustration. Near the bridge he reaches an apartment building and runs up the stairs. When the song goes quiet he is reaching her door and when the song kicks back in he knocks and she opens and they talk. You can see its a bit heated but in the end tears are streaming down her face and a little in his eyes and they hug and the song ends.

To some these may just be lyrics in a song but to those of us who live this life, we know how deep these words reach "From the monster you made me". I pray everyday for all the poor souls who have suffered or are currently suffering. I know I will never forget the life I left behind as it tore me apart, I felt like a monster. I was only 7 years old when my parents divorced, I remember being so scared that I would never get to see the one person that I could turn to in my life ever again. My father, a man who worked himself to death to provide for his family and he was left alone in the dark. There were some nights where I would come home and he would be passed out at his desk. And my mother, whom he was married to for 9 years went behind his back and took me and my sister over 300 miles away to live with her parents. Shortly thereafter, my father took her to court trying to get us back and thanks to the biased justice system, he was robbed of 9000$ and was forced to pay 623$ of child support until I turned 18. He was allowed to see me and my sister 6 days out of every month, you can just imagine how heartbroken he was. For 11 long years, I endured so much pain and all I wanted was to be loved, to have friends, I just wanted to be normal. I remember everything that I went through, being forced to dig a hole without food or water in humid weather with temperatures reaching 99 degrees Fahrenheit. Being held by my ankle upside down and being beaten with a belt until I started bleeding. Having food shoved down my throat, the list goes on and on. What made it worse was my mother was too afraid of her own father to stop him. The thoughts that went through my mind, the things I imagined doing to that man as payback for the pain he inflicted. I had to restrain myself on so many occasions from beating him within an inch of his life because I knew it wasn't right. My own mother told me that she knew I could have killed him on several occasions, especially after insulting my sister by shaming her for being overweight. Whenever my sister comes to visit, I laugh every time I hear about him asking how I'm doing or when I'll come visit. You'd think the old man would understand that beating someone for years would drive them away. Furthermore, I've always been alone, I've never been in a relationship which shocks a lot of people and I explain to them that I have this deep fear of getting my heart broken just like my father. I've had plenty of opportunities to date beautiful women but I turned them all down because my heart didn't feel right. Someday, I know I'll find the love of my life, and I'm patient enough to wait for her. I pray everyday for God to send her to me, so that I can love her for who she is and vice versa. I'm also proud to say I survived all those years of torment to finally be able to live a happy life beside my father. He has raised me into the man I am now and I cannot thank him enough. It's tough seeing him work so hard without ever having a chance to be happy but I've never seen him smile so much in his life after I moved in with him. We are making the most of our lost time and I'm hoping one day to take him on a nice vacation because after everything he's been through, he deserves it twice over. I have forgiven my mother and it took me a few years but I persevered into rebuilding our relationship. She's the only mother I'll ever have and despite her mistakes she did raise me. To all you boys and girls who are going through a tough time, I just want to extend my hand out and offer you all a family. You may feel alone, trapped with nowhere to go, but I promise you that you're not alone. You're lives will improve, just give it time. "Good things come to those who wait". Reading this brought me to tears. I'm currently 13. I used to get abused by my mom and dad. They then divorced. My dad wanted nothing to do with us and smoked and drank and was living bad. My mom always drank and got drunk and continued to abuse us (us being me and brothers) and neglect us putting us into survival mode 24/7. She died a few months ago. Even though she put me through A LOT I still hate to know I'll never see her again. I have had signs that she's in heaven but I'm not sure if I'll make it into heaven myself. Me and my dad are on good terms now. He has gotten way better and I'm allowed to see him for a hour 1 time a month. Hopefully court will let us visit more and longer in March!

We are Gods children, but the Devil roams this earth like a Lion, seeking whomever he may devour. Unfortunately, so many of us including my self have fallen victim to his antics, but what I believe is important is that once we as individuals reach a breaking point, some turn to God, others to whatever calms their nerves, and the worst case, death. I encourage so many of my peers to just stop, surrender everything in your life to Jesus and accept him as your Lord & Savior, because God absolutely will not override our will as human beings. He created us in his image and he wants us to choose him, not be forced into loving him. This would be the point where many state "If God doesn't override our will, then why is he telling us either side with him in heaven or burn in hell for all Eternity, I don't want to do either." I just simply smile and go about my day because life is not about hate, its about loving one another as Jesus loved us. A pastor that I follow is quite famous for his amazing gift to spread the word of God to those who are not yet equipped to fight the devil with Gods word. You see many of us are not aware of our gifts, we go through such traumatic events as children because Satan like the snake that he is attacks us in seed form (As children when we are at our most vulnerable and cannot defend ourselves. Looking back if I had ever laid a hand on my grandfather, I believe it would have affected Gods plans for my life, and I would never have met so many of the amazing people I see and work with everyday. God bless you my friend, indeed it would have been so wonderful to give him what "I" thought he deserved, but you must understand that forgiveness is the way to Eternal life, not making a selfish choice to make myself feel better.
