This is the most heartfelt version of this song I have ever heard. Found myself moved to tears. There is such an introspection and maturity to her singing that I feel like I am really hearing the lyrics of this song for the first time. Loved it.❤️
Me too. I heard and saw Idina on Bdway but this version..to Ana's daughter... Is so beautiful and heartfelt...and tough to shrink the song down for a smaller audience. 🥰🥺
I saw yo twice in 2006, you make my vacation...first time in NYC as a french girl it was a dream come true and you sell me the dream i dreamed when i was a child, usa and musical, thank you. So very much.
James She sounds exactly like the tree to me. But she is subdued and subtle here but was gregarious and full voiced singing high hopes. That may be the disconnect for you. Find her on UA-cam singing a more rambunctious song.
Karina, I see where you are coming from, but maybe it's because the arrangement is nothing like the original and this one above is much more intimate and from a quieter, internal place. Not sure, that's just my opinion.
She always did cutesy conical skit singing a little bits and pieces showing that she had a beautiful voice when she did comedy on SNL but she never did a proper stand up in a pretty dress singer outstanding song like she's doing here that's too bad SNL really missed the ball on that one she should have done it once in awhile unused talent in that arena although she was very talented on the show.
Oh yes - Idina Menzel sings it best! Saw her in concert a year ago ("opening" for furry Josh Groban), and it was sooooooo exciting and wonderful! She has an incredible stage presence, and while I have greatly appreciated her since 'Rent!', I think she is awesome now!
I once heard someone sing this song REALLY badly. Like it strait up gave me a headache and was in genuine pain. I really think we need to ban the singing of this song if some people can't sing it right.
It’s very easy to sing this song badly. My vocal coach has mentioned that it’s best not to do this song unless you’re a powerhouse or you have an amazingly mind blowing rearrangement.
Doesn't have the range? Did you not hear what she said at the start? She did the role of Elphaba in Chicago and Broadway over ten years ago... You don't have the range to research...
Saw her perform this in Chicago for Wicked. Beautiful rendition, very introspective. Her voice is so powerful.
Great interpretation, had no idea such a funny lady was this multi-talented.

amazing! didn't know she could sing like that... I know her from SNL where she would sing in comedic skits like the Culps
What a talent! Beautiful, fresh take on a song that's been done to death. An honest to goodness singing actress.
Ana is wickedly funny and also an incredible singer!!! SNL and Wicked alumni... she’s amazing!!
AND The Butterball Hotline!
From snl to broad way! Good for her! This is an amazing song! Saw wicked in sf and any live performance will move you to tears, always this song
Who’s here because of the Masked Singer?
Me 🌲
@@erinkarpinec3678 Me, had no idea she could sing like this
ALL OF US! 😂
just saw her in once upon a mattress and she was phenomenal!!!
Wow! Great to hear this without the vocal fireworks and really understand what a great song this is.
I love this more toned down version! Don't get me wrong... The stage version is absolutely amazing, but this is beautiful too.
Beautifully soulful in a heart-wrenching manner; stunning singing and composition.
Oh Godd I love herrrr!!
Enormous talent. Would love to see and hear her and Maya do a musical comedy
Hmm. Don't tell me Maya can sing like her mother?!! That would be amazing!
Wow! This arrangement on her voice were absolutely lovely and transporting.
Beautiful voice. What a multi talented actress & comedienne.
Great singer, great song. Loved it. Put more songs on you tube please.
Had no idea she could sing like this. Just wow. Much respect.
Ikr! I knew her from SNL and other comedy work. But this... blew my mind!
...didn’t know, she also sang; how underrated! ❤️
GERONIMORE exactly what I was thinking!
What? You’ve never seen her Celine?
The tree from the masked singer
I agree, i thought Michelle visage at first, but all the clues point to Ana
Yeppers
Indeed!
I’m totally here from The Masked Singer!! I think it is her!
@Terry Tuznik me too!
I love her in People of Earth! She's an amazing actress. And, I didn't know she could sing!
Sara Cox She sang somewhat regularly on SNL.
I saw yo twice in 2006, you make my vacation...first time in NYC as a french girl it was a dream come true and you sell me the dream i dreamed when i was a child, usa and musical, thank you. So very much.
She's totally the tree, she also sounds way better in her higher registry.
I saw her in chicago preforming this... amazing..
Wow what a nice surprise she sings very well
This is absolutely beautiful. 💚
Just wow!!!! Oh Ana I loved you on SNL... And then I heard your pipes on The Goldbergs.. just lovely.
I didn’t know she was on Broadway!! 💚🖤
She was Elphaba in Chicago.
She Also Was Elphaba In Broadway.
Wow. Wow. WOW! This was incredible.
This is so earnest. I love it.
what a beautiful version of the song :)
this made me teary-eyed
I recently found out I’m related to Ana Gasteyer and I still haven’t gotten over it O.o
I love this woman SO much and wish she'd do this EVERY YEAR!!!! (til she got sick of it...but hopefully NEVER)
thanks!
I know Ana from her work as an actress , BUT had no idea she can sing ! How wonderful . Definitely here from Masked Singer
the best Elphaba (Sorry, Edina).
This reminds me of a arrangement that carol king would have done
Wow a beautiful voice!!!!!
A very talented lady.
Hmm... Christmas tree? 🎄
She sounds nothing like the tree to me.

SPOILER ALERT
shes the tree.
Honestly, I don't like the way she did it this time, but the oringinal is always the best!! I love the tree on masked singer, and she is fenomenal!
The register was high... hard to do she nailed it.
Now THAT'S our Krolia
does anyone know this reference XD
Someone should do an animatic of this but with Krolia
She sounds much better in head voice
Karina, I see where you are coming from, but maybe it's because the arrangement is nothing like the original and this one above is much more intimate and from a quieter, internal place. Not sure, that's just my opinion.
I actually connected with this version better. Loved it.
GUYS IS THIS KROLIA'S VOICE ACTRESS?? I'M SCREAMING
FOR REAL THOUGH
Miss Cinoman, from The Goldbergs
I TOTALLY get what she was trying to do here but it was SO lackluster and flat. Glad I saw her in first Chicago run. She was ASTOUNDING!
She always did cutesy conical skit singing a little bits and pieces showing that she had a beautiful voice when she did comedy on SNL but she never did a proper stand up in a pretty dress singer outstanding song like she's doing here that's too bad SNL really missed the ball on that one she should have done it once in awhile unused talent in that arena although she was very talented on the show.
...she’s the tree isn’t she
Ashlyn Butler she is!
babytyty13 i saw!!! i knew from the hat lmao
I love her, but this is not the way I prefer the song. I like the belting
This version is a bit slow to be honest. Its no the show stopping song it needs to be .
she sings like she's scared and uncertain :(
It's her acting...
That's the point...
I don’t care for the arrangement
I once heard someone sing this song REALLY badly. Like it strait up gave me a headache and was in genuine pain. I really think we need to ban the singing of this song if some people can't sing it right.
looooooooooooooool I think we've all heard ppl sing it bad. its hard to sing
It’s very easy to sing this song badly. My vocal coach has mentioned that it’s best not to do this song unless you’re a powerhouse or you have an amazingly mind blowing rearrangement.
So what? Let people have fun and show their love for the song by singing it.
Well that was unexciting
She's good but she doesn't have the range
Blueflower L believe me she does in this performance it’s a stylistic choice because she wanted to change the tone of the song
Doesn't have the range? Did you not hear what she said at the start? She did the role of Elphaba in Chicago and Broadway over ten years ago... You don't have the range to research...
Beau dermotts version is better
I think she needs to try it in a lower key. It's grating and def. not entertaining.
I respect your wrong opinion :)
That was incredible. Incredibly anticlimactic 👎
this was terrible
Who the hell is she ? Tree? Masked singer is about celebrities and I have never heard of this clown 😂
To me, she'll always be Mae Coleman in Reefer Madness: The Musical
That’s the Stuff!
