Most successful companies I used to think made good products now make trash living off the reputation from when they made quality products. Seems like every company that get popular from amazing quality products sells out and the company that bought them uses the reputation to push garbage items until people figure it out then they sell or liquidate.
I started a business and had it registered in my state. Home Advisor got my business number from state records and contacted me about advertising. They wrote a wonderful ad about how great my company is. It was extremely convincing. It went into great detail about how experienced and professional my company is. That ad proved to me that their organization is a multimillion dollar scam. They were praising my company and making it sound great before I started my first day of business and got my very first customer. Their only concern was to get me to pay them $625 for the ad. Home Advisor was ready to praise my company to the public when all I did was registered the name of my business. I WILL NEVER USE THEM TO ADVISE ME OF ANYTHING. 😂🤣😂🤣

My Pillow does violate some advertising code that states you can't run a BOGO-free ad for longer than six months or something like that. I understand why because if they are BOGO-free all the time then the actual cost of the pillows is the sale price making them not actually on sale. Even with that said, it may be a little shady but by no means is it taking advantage or screwing people over. Their products are of good quality. They don't like the company over at BBB because the owner is an active social conservative and Christian and won't kowtow to their extortion.
I sure wished I had seen this before I used a HomeAdvisor/Angi recommended plumber, after 3 weeks and $27,350, about half the work was done, some of it was even done right! I had to finish the work myself. They made me believe they were legit and honest, asked for half the money upfront, worked hard for 4 days, asked for the other half with the promise they would be back to finish, yep you guessed it, showed up once a week for maybe an hour over the next 2 weeks. Homeadvisor/Angi suppresses and removes negative reviews, and somehow the company cannot be located on Google, so no review can be left there. We are once again back to "buyer beware" as the groups to protect consumers have been spoiled by money and cannot be trusted.
Who would go to Satan to rate their uprightness? Those who advertise that they are BBB accredited therefore honest is like someone advertising they got satans approval. It means nothing 😄 BBB accredits anyone who pays and rates them well.

Yes HomeAdvisor does not check licenses or insurance or any type of bonding although sometimes it will claim that the company they are representing is licensed and insured but they don't know that for a fact. Also every company starts out with five stars before they even go to their first job which is absolutely ridiculous, how in God's name do you get five stars and you haven't even been rated yet. There are many of freeways to do background reports on contractors and such without listening to the lies and deception from home advisor
I went to a vet that I later learned had a horrible reputation. BBB shows them as A+. AND BBB says that customer ratings/reviews are not factored into their rating. That''s enough for me to know it's a scam. The BBB is compromised selectively hiding and tailoring complaints in favor of the very businesses the complaints are against. I am stating this as a witness from my own recent experience. We need bigger channels to expose the BBB.Stamps has an A plus rating on the BBB even though it has over one thousand complaints against them.I know that Stamps illegally charges you a monthly fee even after you cancel their service.The BBB pretty much emboldens scammy companies like Stamps to screw over customers without much repercussions.We need someone with a lot of money to create an honest organization to put the BBB and Stamps out of business.

You are giving the BBB too much credit by assuming they use algorithms to decipher how they grade companies, decide who becomes accredited, etc... It's real simple...if you pay them, you'll get a favorable rating. Period. The local offices have monthly quotas just like any other sales organization. The only difference is the BBB hides behind their Non Profit status, the fact they've been around for 100+ years, etc.
The BBB really helped me. When businesses didn't want to treat us right or pay us what was do or take down things that they know shouldn't have been up I went to the BBB no one wants to deal with the BBB because it is reputation based on what people say about a company and boy they helped me so much and I thank them
