The intro is so... Oval...
@user-my3yp1wb2z Well NASCAR is an American sport so kind of makes sense
You should do Indycar ovals next. Welcome to 'Merica lol. Also, don't focus on going high to apex in the beginning. This will shred your tires. Use the mid line letting off the gas to save tires. Let the draft keep you on pace.
Hell yeah, I just started Indycar right when they came back with them on iracing and yeah oval indycar racing is awesome! So many tracks you're sitting above 200 mph easily 😳
And....that's why I don't have voice chat enabled.
That's why I DO have voice chat enabled
@@mctithahaha 💯 %
that is hilarious, why wouldn't you have it on??
Love this! Definitely want to see the road to 3k irating in Oval!
I would say you are entering the corner early and off line. I recommend DJ Yee-J’s tire saving videos. Explained very well and very helpful.
hahahaha the intro had me in tears 🤣🤣🤣
Dave to help your right front for Texas, turn your brakes all the way to the rear. Plus your corner entry is too early. Stay up against the wall a bit longer and arc into the corner.
Now it's confusing. I watched a guide saying get in to the bottom early 🫤
In the going into turn 1 a lot of times you left room towards the wall to move up. That would help your corner entry. Also helping you enter slightly later. Also in turn 3 when you went in too early you can see how much more wheel input you had to steer. A few laps closer to the start when you ran down the back to around 1 second you can see you start to enter earlier and put more wheel in.
@GoodWeiserRacing duuuuude, i just waited on the grid, when i catched your comment. Had the same issue as Dave... and oh boi, i started to overtake ppl in the 18th lap.... It was like i'm on still brand new tyres.
@@gregorybalint glad to help 😊
@@GoodWeiserRacing The issue I'm seeing is less about timing and real estate and more about the angle that he ends up pointing his nose. Most top guys dont go up by the wall on entry until the final few laps when it's time to squeeze lap time. The more important fundamental is that your nose points in a straight line to the white line before you enter the banking. If you don't have that angle early you make it up mid corner by using more steering wheel and boom thats tire wear. Wide entry is fine but assuming you have the correct angle, there's marginally more tire wear at a tight handling track with it because you're cutting across the banking more. It's a little easier to execute though so that's the trade off.
This is awesome!! So glad you are diving into oval racing. It's a blast! cheers!🍻
Haha loving the intro.
The thing I’m learning with oval is to be over patient and the race will come to you in the last third
That opening bit was hilarious haha, nice one Dave 😂
ROTF Laughing. Best intro ever! Looks like you’re off to a good start with your oval career. I highly recommend the Silver Crown Series, same guys week after week so more accountability. But… IDK if you’ll get a time slot favorable to your location. SOF races usually run twice a week at 7:45P, or 9:45P EST. Used to be Mon, Thurs but that may have changed. Great group of guys though, and a fun car.
I’m enjoying watching you learn this kind of racing. I’m not going to spend another small fortune 💰 on all the oval tracks; so, I’m living vicariously through you here. 😅
Absolutely loved the intro. Your facial expressions, especially towards the end, were too funny!
I'm also loving the oval stuff and seeing you learn. I think a lot of us can learn from your learning as well.
And lastly I just wanted to say that I agree that learning is fun. I find myself always looking to learn things in life. Whether it's something completely new, something similar or simply expanding any existing skills :)
15.40 what an abpsolute sniper 🤣
Nice to see you on my side of the pond! DJ Yee-J on UA-cam has a bunch of ARCA guides on his channel, Hey you should do a collaboration with him, that would be a great watch. Cheers
Better than the first one! Nice work! I feel you still need that brake lower and longer. But I'll bet your tires are already thanking you! Watch that DJ Yee-J feller. 😊
Hahahahaha the beginning of this video is amazing. The pure juice of ARCA races.
I Love the Menards ARCA Series! TEXAS: The Destroyer of the Right Front tire. I sure suck at keeping it healthy. Fun!
Great video as always! So glad you're getting into oval racing! That intro was hilarious 😂. The dude that ran into the back of that guy was 100 percent wrong. The dude in the wall did what he was supposed to do but the other guy just wanted to make a point, a wrong point but still.
One little suggestion if that's cool: On my Racelab overlays (thx for discount) I'll have at least one of them have the car numbers next to the names as well, usually on both the relative and overall standings. Would come in handy I think for us watching to get a better idea of everything going on. For example at the beginning of the race when you called those 2 car numbers out that were bickering, it would be nice to know where in the pack they are by seeing their numbers on the leaderboard. It also helps me out racing, especially oval, at keeping good situational awareness.
Again, great video! 👌
Consider the car number on the relative done 😁
@@davecamm hell yeah sweet man!
It was a honor to race with you Sir, I love your Videos as I said in the sim. I try to stream all my races as well as practices, setup builds etc. If you ever want any info as far as the NASCAR vehicles and tracks feel free to contact me , I enjoy creating videos to help people ( I have 2 dealing with the Gen 7 the Adjustable Master Cylinders and how that works in conjunction with the Brake Bias. I am not good at the RC stuff but trying to learn
Thank you mate 😁
Lmao. That intro was awesome.
Another great race Dave. Loving the oval content
Absolutely amazing video… Thanks Dave
I installed NR2003 for some offline gaming and find it really addictive - but yeah, races can be over in a heartbeat, happens so fast when you are redlining these cars around the ovals :D
Crying laughing over here Dave. Amazing intro 😂
I drove this track at the Petty Experience years ago, it was a blast.
But man these NASCAR lobbies are brutal.😅
Not toxic then it kicks off...best intro ever
That intro, ahahaha. Couldn't be more representative, ahaha.
Your graphics are crazy crisp damn, amazing quality ✌️
Keep up the great work buddy
Thank you mate 😁
Great job! Enter the turns a bit higher, maybe half to 2/3 up the track just above the dark seam in turn 1, enter turn 3 straddling the seam and then slowly steer your way to the very late apex to take stress off your tires, carry more speed and increase you time on full throttle. Of course all this is moot in heavy traffic. 🫣 Hope this helps with your tire wear concerns. Love your videos, keep up the great work, you’re a great embassador for iRacing! 🏁
Thank you Sir, that's very kind of you 😁
you can save the right front tire a little better if you let off the throttle earlier going into the turns as well as not using 100% throttle in the middle of the turns. let off a little bit earlier and roll back into the throttle, and also don’t turn the wheel too much
Thanks Dave, Nice to get oval explained to a Brit by a Brit. I'm here to learn all the technical stuff and look forward to your enlightenment.
We are gonna need to switch that speedo to MPH!!! Always love watching Dave Does Oval!
And people slam Nascar as just going in circles. Sure, going in circles where anything can happen at any time to ruin your day. Others have already covered corner entry. I'll just say, if you drift off the bottom, don't fight it back down. Let the car get comfortable in that higher line. The important thing is to keep your momentum up. A higher line usually means less heat in the FR. But then, I don't know that much about the Arca cars. Anyway, better luck next time.
All 12 weeks next season in arca!
Great intro, its always hit and miss on the Arca races as far as if people are respectable or not. But after this adventure on oval racing you should try dirt oval. Its a blast.
Best part of oval's is the Voice Chat lol
you're pretty lucky the guy behind you on the start was nice, a lot of guys would've been very upset that you were laying back so much haha
The first 2 minutes of this video DELIVERED lmao
intro typical oval thing hahaha happens when too much freedom in the air!!!!! love the vid glad coming to oval feller... arca and 4th gens are so fun. keys are smooth smoooth on everything. keep weight transfers even an your good!!!! corners will be there no rush gettin in em!! theyre set to do anything but straight hahaha
If you like ARCA, you should give the Gen 4's a go
...front tire wear could also be from picking up the throttle too soon in the corner
btw the first time slot of the week is your best racing in arca series . cleaner drivers more adult type drivers.
Pretty neat video so far just noticed you were using the clutch these cars can be shifted no clutch since the gearbox has straight cut gears I feel faster doing this could be placebo
That drama at quali. Being a footie fan, and given that they were both Americans, I'd be struggling to hold my tongue by wading in with: "Who's getting SWATed in the morning?"
Intro is absolutely stupendous. Not a fan of the old style ticker at the top though!
14:1
-12 steering ratio
60% on brakes plus the additional -3% in car adjustments. That’s what I do for every track outside of the short tracks
What's the -12?
@@davecamm I think he means -12 steering offset.
@@davecamm The offset, the default offset is way off, it has the steering way to the right on the straights. I find getting the wheel "straight" gives me the best feel for the car. As far as steering ratio, I would go with either 12:1 with a -10 offset or 14:1 with a -12 offset. Some people swear that higher ratios save tires more, but running what is most comfortable will be what saves tires more. You burn way more tire with your right foot and the line you run than you will ever burn with any ratio changes.
@@davecamm you want to feel like you are counter steering, that’s how you know you are on the right rear tire. You have to drive it hard to get the weight to transfer on that rear tire tho some times driving slower doesn’t always mean better tires.
USA USA USA
Haha. For real though I tried the rookie dirt ovals for the first time this week, had a great time.
Greatest intro ever 😂
Dave demonstrating how baby Arcas are made 👀
Not watched the video yet...but the intro 😂
great to see you on the ovals! yeah, it takes time to learn where you need to see :)
thank you for saying "it's much more than just turning left" :)
what was the break ratio what you've been using? in most cases on 1,5 miles 57% is used.
Think I was at 60 👍
Please one day make a compilation of your best intros. This one should be in. GT3s in the rain at Nords as well :D
I have the same experience in oval 😅
Great video Dave. The intro was so typical. Texas Motorspeedway is great. I was a season ticket holder there for while evenalthough in the UK. The repave and reprofile killed it untill the Next Gen car turned up.
QQ - Are you using the JJ spotter pack in Crew Chief or directly in iRacing?
Keep up the good work :)
I'm using it in iRacing 👍
The intro HAHA 😂
Now we just need a little dirt oval and rallyx
Only in merica. Love the sound of their own voice
Great video and I wanna see you get good at oval I’m a oval guy my self
That intro was strangely prophetic! Really enjoy these oval races, but I'm guessing your 'Indy 500' days are over?
He isn’t qualified yet so chances are slimmer
Should have a crack at the fixed Indy 500 Dave.
God, what an intro 😂
yay
love the oval content!
Ride the wall, your entry your going in to soon and exit out of 2 n 4 your turning to much, you want to aim at the wall and come out as straight as you can and ride the wall and enter turn as straight as you can with speed, your burning tires because your taking the turns like a road course still, hope this helps dave love your videos and driving, excited to see you run a cup car, again hope this helps you
P.s I don't mean ride the wall through the turn btw lol
Thank you mate. 😁
Does the set up for iracing on a oval give you a choice of rear stager that is where you R tire is larger than your l tire to help on your using front tires up. That is a very important on a oval.
Not in this series but in the open series you can make any changes that you would IRL 👍
15:36 worst bumpdraft attempt ever
Too soon 🤣
The intro 😄 🤣
I love being American
Keeeerrrrunch!!
Never freaking fails
that's why i don't do to many official oval races
that could not have gone.....any more like.. planned LOL
you would have thought the spotter would have given you a heads up???
That intro... 😂
I love listening to those salty peeps 😂
"Bloodbath" 😂
OMG EPIC INTRO HAAHHAHAA
You’re actually saving a little too much in this, you can do 3 and 4 at Texas without ever touching the brake in the Arca cars. As the race goes on, you might have to start doing a slight brake drag to help the rotation but it’s still nowhere near the amount you’re braking. 1 and 2 looked decent but like others have said your angle is a little too sharp. Starting on road and then moving to Oval I had the same issue at first, you don’t point at the apex like you do in Road, you want to arc into it a little more to help use less steering input. Most of your rotation should come from your brake and throttle, not the steering wheel.
Like others have said, @DJYeeJay is the guru when it comes to oval and specifically Arca
ROFL the opening with the two hicks yelling at each other is exactly why i dont oval race. It's so toxic. I was in a 3-4 car wreck yesterday at belle isle and everyone was just like "so sorry" and we went on our way lol
lolol that intro :D :D :D :D
Oh I tried to ask how your thumb is ( But I think you may have had in sim chat off after race ended )as I remember you got a knarly cut on it awhile back. What are your normal times to run races /Practice? I am in US-PDT but I seem to do most of my races from say 21:00 to 05:00 US-PDT More then happy to share any info I have acquired so far,
It's healed over now thanks, but surprisingly quite sore. I run pretty much all day UK time mon-fri 😁
@@davecamm Took me a while to figure out what allndaybuk time was All day but in UK Time??
@@James-Vining-333 I've edited my comment to something that makes sense 🤣
That into...
There were two moments a bit earlier at 15:27 - 15:28 and again at 15:29 - 15:30, than the glimpse you had at 15:34 to 15:34, that you could see puffs of wall dust from at least two wall strikes he had, one as hit and the second as he tried to stay high side. Those were your actual warnings that there was going to be a slow one on the high-side. I saw both of those on the first viewing and thought uh-oh, be careful now! Tough luck. Oh, and I agree these oval or near oval races are very technical.
why is the dial in the middle at a angle?
The skip barber is the same and I know that is at an angle to fit the cable around the steering column. Not sure if this is the same
Nothing you could do about that. 😳
That was unluky Dave.
You were going well up to that point.
There's definately more to it than just turning left as you say.
Gen4 is more fun, cars are faster, its a little more driving intensive imho
In real life that would have been a hell of a crash
FARMER MAC
The beginning is so American lmao
IRacing, the game full of people that blame you when they crash or do something that causes them to get ran in to
Dave your entry’s seemed to shallow, with the speed your carrying into the corner is gonna push you up the track n makes it feel like it’s tight
Your spotter failed you
Odd seeing you in a non DC livery.
Why people are so violent...... behind the screen, of course.... Chill bro...hahaha
These "tips" are absolutely mental. Tyre shred city tips in these comments
'merica
It was a stupid place to stop
🤣🤣🤣🤣
Sorry, the first part with those two talking and the look on your face was just priceless!
Sack your spotter.
First comment
Dave on an oval.. okay buddy..
