  • Marie and Steve Hinds Longdale Light Railway's annual Remembrance Sunday running day is the last of the seasons events for the East Midlands 16mm Group, and features trains that carry appropriate decoration as well as illuminations. The weather also produced some great steam effects.
The railway track plan can be seen in the Association's Guide to 16mm Scale Modelling and features quite an extended run benefitting from a series of cross overs, changes in level, viaducts and some "street running" as well as extensive removable steam up bays.

Beautiful garden railway in the day and ever more magical as the daylight fades. Meeting up with friends is a great part of this hobby 🚂👍

Hi there, Don't be nervous! There are 16mm Association groups all over the UK, and in the USA, Australia, Norway, New Zealand and other countries. Here in the UK East Midlands Area Group we are very welcoming! You don't need to have locos or stock even as someone will usually offer you a drive, so it's a great way to explore the hobby before parting with your cash. There's loads of experience on offer too, so someone will have probably had the same issue to fix, or problem to solve and will be happy to explain how. There are also Groups based at some UK Heritage Railways, in the East Midlands we have the Butterley Garden Railway at the Midland Railway Centre (Sunday afternoons and special events), there are also 16mm lines at the South Devon, Severn Valley and Talylyn Railways that I'm aware of. Not a lot of meets usually between October and the National Show in April, but usually a busy programme throughout the spring and summer. Keep an eye on Bulletin for details.

Ha ha! Yes Steve’s done a good job. There are even “manhole / drain covers” in the street made from coins from the years Steve and his wife were born, and obviously the train going between the buildings is a tribute to the original Welshpool and Llanfair railway route.
