More often than not, maple backed guitars seem to me to have a shallower depth of sound than an equivalent with a rosewood back. Interestingly I learned that steel string jumbo guitars are often maple backed to lessen the low end sound. So, maybe I'm not totally imagining a difference.....
@Konstantin Ridaya I agree, but I like the look of the first guitar, it still is very fresh & needs settling, further it needs a master player who appreciates this instrument talks/sings a little faster, cause THE VOICE is like that. Not all good voices are the same 😉
The second is FUN The third, I would have liked to listen to it BEFORE the restoration The first, I like the look of, 👌& it seems to have a voice but needs two things 1. Settle, many months of playing 2. A player who understands its NOT a typical classical guitar & adjusts to its speed So the voice comes out proper,,, Again I very much like the look!!
Oh Dear . I Loved this Feature from Siccas and looked forward to my fix of Saturday guitar Reviews always informative and interesting and an introduction to perhaps lesser known Luthiers as well as some of the early Masters. Sadly this edition has been plagued with edits that detract from the purpose of the feature... I can see from the comments I am not alone, sadly i will listen no further to this edition only managed 4 minutes and had enough. Can you comment if this will be a regular mish mash from now on or will normality return soon ?
Nice work, Jouyan, even if just a tad overdone on the sound-effects. Folks, i hope you are able to hear that Esteso like is how classical guitars should sound. Soft pretty sound, thumping and present bass, on the dark sound of tone instead of annoyingly bright, and just overall, mellow. I also hope Lijoi goes back to making traditional guitars. I was not a fan of his double top guitar. The 11 string something; what a not funny joke. Can it even be tuned? And, how come so many people, luthiers included don’t have an ear able to hear the difference of a bass note that has the right pitch but no presence? Think of the punchy staccato of a tuba accompaniment, or an upright bass, hardly any sustain but beautiful thump that you feel. This is not an abstract concept such as “warm sound,” it is obvious, friends. If you don’t feel it, it’s because it isn’t there. So, this 11 strings: it has an A octave lower than a guitar’s 5th string but sadly: all pitch, no presence. 11 strings, get outa here. Great stuff as usual, Siccas.
Why do You have Your right arm covered up till the very elbow with bandage. Is it broken or did You get hurt in an another way? Btw, that H Rousu thing, is really very disgusting. Those so called alto guitars should not have been invented at all. It,s only to wast woods. He has not made an own solution of the peghead. It,s almost a G Bolin copy, and G Bolin should have made furniture instead of guitars. This Rousu experiment practically gasp for tone and is more ore less dead plus untuned as well. Abowe all, it must weigh tons! Right? Another BTW, oh my oh my, that D Esteso guitar, amazing. That is what I will call a guitar.👍
Thanks for your opinion. That arm cover prevents skin contact with the wood to protect the guitar's polishing. It also simplifies the elbow movement if the guitarist wants to create different colors and moves his arm.
I love these funny and modern video cuts. Good job 👏
I think the "outtakes"/movie quotes are hilarious! At the 11:50 mark, insert Robert Flack's "Killing Me Softly With His Song".
After hearing that Domingo Esteso guitar...(Greg Smallman left the group)😁😆

It's FASTER, hence a lot of flamenco guitars are made with maple

I like the guitar reviews you do but I also like when you make fun with the video inserts life is to short to be so stuck with our nose in the air
I agree with other commenters. Lose the annoying video cuts. Does not work and disturbs my focus on the sound.
pls stop with those edits. They lower the quality of the video so much, thank you. Third guitar is my favourite

Those edits don't add anything to the video. I hope this won't continue.
Those in-between clips were horrible
