    Thank you so much for putting up this monitor show, I tried to get info on Phillipian monitors for some now time, and yours couldn't be more welcome. Thank you so much and I love to wish you success with your study. Greetz from the Netherlands, EU, Rick.

      Thank you, Rick! You gotta visit the PH sometime to see these beauts in person. Cheers!

    I've noticed that our frugivorous monitors have at least a face of land iguana or near iguanian face compare to a typical monitor face..convergent evolution maybe?

      True those are dinosaurs! But this video was specifically about the Varanus spp. so didn't feel proper to include them :)

    Hello friend, which of these monitors can be bought as a pet?

    • @roquesmodernlife
      @roquesmodernlife  Рік тому

      V. cumingi (Yellow headed water monitor) are usually the ones that are captive bred. Don't buy wild caught!

    We do have dinosaurs, they're called "birds" 😂 We do have a lot of them and oit of 700, 200+ are endemic.

    • @roquesmodernlife
      @roquesmodernlife  Рік тому

      I agree! They really are dinos and more closely related. Monitors just match the standard “dino” look

    Yes there are still dinosaurs in the Philippines, they're called the Philippines Eagle, and other birds. Birds are the closest extant relatives of non-avian dinosaurs than today's lizards are. In fact birds ARE dinosaurs.

      Very true! I just used them as an example since they share the same stereotypical look :) but birds are definitely living dinosaurs!

    Why is their only 5 minutes of video on FRUGIVOROUS Monitor Lizards ? Every channel uses the same limited information.
    (Not knocking your content AT ALL)

      Hey Tim! This is mainly because the research on frugivorous varanus spp in the Philippines is still in its infantile stage. There is either extremely limited footage or documentation that has not been released to the public yet.
      Hoping for more content from our local researchers in the near future 🙏🏼
