I'm a wuss and never draw on the back of a good drawing for this reason. I always draw on the right side of my sketchbook so less things can go wrong lol

I just tape something over it, write “shame” and move on to the next page, lol!
I stick the next page to cover that mess.
I usually stick some washi tape and draw over it another time. But the idea here was that all of the characters from the same show were together, so I get why it could become a problem

@@mochatoassidk their reason, but kine is the amount of times Viktor did really stupid stuff, and then acted like the victim through everything
That's a good mindset, but I also believe that a sketchbook should be meant for mistakes so you can truly explore and learn. I never erase any of the sketches I make even if they're aweful because they become part of your journey as an artist.
But seeing your sketches aren't necessary, you're learning from fixing mistakes too

Whenever I’m sad and think my dream of being an artist is something silly I like going back to your videos where you say positive stuff like this. My favorite is the one where you said at the end I believe in you and it makes me feel better 😊 since I don’t hear that too often and it’s hard to say it to myself on some days.

I remember Scott saying "I believe in you", too, whenever I'm frustrated or just not clicking with the universe. Somehow it makes me feel better.
Scott, even though you're a couple years younger, I've adopted you as...well, not a father figure...a favorite cousin or uncle. Sometimes I even think of you as the big brother I never had. I pull out my little Sava Sayings notebook and suddenly the world makes sense again. Like, I need family to get me through the bs of the day. Anyhow, welcome to the family, I guess. From now on, family is limited to people I actually like/enjoy.

@@doursen I didn’t hear it was his UA sketch book, this man has too many sketch books so it could have been anything
I never like to say I "mess up" in my sketchbooks, since I don't use sketchbooks for any fully fleshed out art, just for sketching and doodling. But I have found that using sticky notes to cover any mistakes and then drawing the corrections over the sticky notes makes for a cool looking fix!

In my opinion everything is fixable, it’s all about this: Do you want to fix it? If you have no motivation to even attempt to fix it it’s going to seem unfixable. I’m glad you did it Over again though, because it’s what you preferred to do!
Yeah. I used the term "unfixable" for me as the photo I was using of Diego for reference just wasn't a great one. So I had to start over with a better photo.

I love this guy, i just love the way he talks about art. His art is amazing, and he still talks about failure and how we can learn from it in a very kind way. What he talks about here happens to me a lot, sometimes its just better to stop for the day or make a pause. That doesnt mean u are a bad artist or anything like that, we all just have our days and thats fine.

Whenever I'm really frustrated with a piece, I pause and take a break, anywhere from 5 minutes to waiting till the next day. Working through it makes me want to give up more, and I then no longer see the potential in the piece.
Whenever I mess up, i just write in big letters -" there are no mistakes, just happy little accidents".

I love how you use viktors name, i know its not much but as a trans person and seeing a trans character in the media, in a decent manner, and havibg people not only in the show support them but also outside just makes me really really happy

I often draw or paint on scrapped sketchbook paper, and cut/paste them into a hardcover sketchbook with process notes! That cuts out all the commitment anxiety, and gives a great avenue for easy storage/portfolio. I rarely have ANY white space in my kept sketchbooks, unless it's integral to a piece's composition.
I love when victor came out as trans and how much more comfortable I bet Elliot was when he was told he would be able to play a boy

I love how you gendered Viktor correctly. I already know you're a trans ally, but it just meant so much to me, even though it's such a little thing. I know so many people would go out of their way to make sure to call him by his deadname. Even though he's just a character who's actor happened to be trans. They would slip up and call him Viktor and then "correct" themselves the other way. So it may seem very small and meaningless, but it means the world to me. Thank you :)
This is really great. The style very obviously requires a lot of technique while also looking very distinctive and stylized, teetering the line between realism and stylization. A lot of portrait artists in particular just go for pure realism and while it's definitely impressive, it doesn't often make me want to look at it. Good job.
