This episode is proof Matt Braley is a sadist/evil mastermind. He had literally in an interview said after “Marcy at the Gates” aired that he was very relieved everyone loved Marcy so much and that they had worked very hard to ensure we did because otherwise “the series just wouldn’t work”. (True Colors/True Pain hadn’t aired at that point) He wanted to make her as lovable as he could and a fan favorite, so he could then have her fall apart emotionally and then have her “father figure” stab her in the back (literally) in the season finale right before it ended. So then we’d all be emotional wrecks that would 100% watch season 3 no matter what, either to see the other girl’s reactions, whether Marcy would be okay, and most of all…to make sure Andrias gets his ass kicked.
He was also behind the death of Big Henry in Gravity Falls and off course.... - MASSIVE AMPHIBIA SPOILER - ..... ..... ends up killing off his main lead (Anne) only to replace her with a clone in the end. The dude looks nice, but there's one hell of a siiiiiiiiiiiiiick little puppy dancing around in his brain.
I love how they fake us out by making us think that Sprig would die, so when he comes back, we think we're in the clear. Then they shock us with Marcy the moment we let our guard down.
Kind of Funny Story; I actually started watching Amphibia right after DuckTales ended. I was able to catch up on all 40 episodes and I had zero idea that True Colors got delayed or that the creators themselves called out the fans to not watch any leaks of the episode. So, I went from not knowing anything about Amphibia to seeing True Colors before anyone else 4 days before its original release date.
DUDE SAME!!! I started amphibia right after ducktales and it did not disappoint. Caught up to the true finale and actually watched the leak, not knowing it was delayed. Suffice to say, that finale solidified my love for the show
I could swear I heard his heart shatter. And I got flashbacks to my first time watching the series. All I could do after that scene was to whimper and cry =')
OK but look at it from the perspective of the Wartwood frogs. They JUST said goodbye to Anne, and probably saw her and the Plantars off to Newtopia. And then less than a day later, they look in the distance and see the Newtopia castle fly into the air with a million mechanical frogs assembling towards it. And all they can think is "God fucking damn it what did Anne do this time."
After I watched Marcy’s “death” scene for the first time, all I could think about how it could’ve gone two ways. The scene we originally got: Andrias stabbing Marcy. However, imagine if instead of him intentionally stabbing her, he aims his sword directly behind her while she’s handling the Calamity box, she accidentally stumbles backwards onto his sword, impaling herself. That would’ve been equally as heartbreaking, considering Marcy, and if I’m remembering correctly, Andrias, knows how oblivious and clumsy she can be despite her trying her best efforts to overcome that.
Before I saw this episode, I thought since Anne didn't charge her stone all the way, Marcy and Sasha would be sent back to Earth and Anne would be stuck in Amphibia with the Plantars. Boy, was I wrong.
10:57 Blier: Cuz she doesn't wanna go home, that seems pretty fair. I'm glad I'm not the only one who doesn't see Marcy as totally bad just because of this. I've seen people be so mad at her but I just don't see why.
@@thecluckster3908 well yeah, but she didn't do it out of malice and she didn't know it would work either. I dunno, I see it more like she messed up rather than "Oh... you traitor of friendship... I hate you now" which is what some people reaction's were... well, until the end of the ep. :T
I think that all of the girls are very morally grey. It's not right for Marcy to have tricked them into coming, but in her mind, she was doing the right thing. Same with Sasha in Toad Tower. The issue with all of these girls is that they all think they know what's best for their group, and just push forward to do it without thinking about the consequences. Marcy thought that her friends needed to stay together, so she brought them to a new world where they could be together, and kept pushing Anne and Sasha to get along so that their group wouldn't split up. Sasha thought that the toads were the best way to get home, so she made a deal with Grime that they would help her find a way home if she helped crush the rebellion. And Anne thinks that her friends all need to evolve the same way as her, so she pushed Sasha to change who she was, rather than just changing what she does. Anne didn't realize that the three different girls all need to develop in their own ways. They are all imperfect. There's no right and wrong side with them. They're just kids who are figuring out life through trial and error, and that usually means there will be more errors than successes.
@@KittyOfChess ... I couldn't have said it better. Literally, I can't write or analyze stuff that good. I'm using your words anytime I'm in this discussion again! :0000
Plus another thing people love to use against her and claim as “proof” she was always a liar/bad friend/person is the whole “keep traveling to different worlds” plan. But they all forget/love to omit the fact that wasn’t actually Marcy’s plan. That was the proposal Andrias pitched to her. Which means Marcy really WAS planning to return them to Earth up until the end of “Day at the Aquarium” when Andrias manipulated her. Whether she planned to return home herself idk but the point is she was trying to rectify her mistake and get them back home. Meaning she knew they couldn’t stay/continue the adventure and possibly even meaning she really didn’t think the box would work and when it did she immediately regretted dragging them into this. Had Andrias NOT given her his “Very interesting” proposal when she was sad, alone and VULNERABLE after Anne went with the Plantars, they would have done what her original plan was. Find Sasha and gotten them all home. (Granted, Sasha would have still thrown a wrench in the plans but still)
True Colors breaks us all in different ways. We laugh along with Anne to try and mask the trauma, but it still lingers. On the analysis side, this episode reveals how Amphibia has really changed the calamity trio, and a lot of it has been for the worse. Sasha's domineering tendencies haven't been tempered by Grime and the toads; they've been amplified. When presented with the option to trade ruling a school and conquering a kingdom, she chooses the later with little initial hesitation. And when she does realize the danger she's placed everyone in its already too late. She's ruined her relationship with Anne, the last friend she could reliably count on. Marcy, for all her intellect and resourcefulness, is so hyper-fixated on escaping to her world of puzzles and adventures it becomes a detriment to others. Amphibia wasn't a terrifying experience for her; it was the ultimate fantasy adventure that would never end. Her fan-favorite status has many of her fans defending her actions (from not knowing the Calamity Box would work to being tricked by Andrias' false promises) and while there is truth in that, the facts still remain. She wanted to remain in this strange adventure with Anne forever, whether Anne wanted it or not. Overall, I'd say True Colors has revealed just how toxic Anne's relationship with Sasha and Marcy has become and how much better she might be without them influencing her life. She'll definitely fight to save them, but I'd be disappointed if the three of them remained as close after everything that's happened. Sometimes the best thing you can do for your own well-being and growth is to acknowledge the negative influences in your life that are holding you back and let them go. And now for a less depressing end-note: 2:59 - Dr. P's Extraordinary Guide To Magic & Mystery. Now does that "P" stand for Plantar or some other family name? Perhaps a Pines.

Alright, I have to say this. I was unfortunately spoiled of what happened 2-3 years ago (by my own hubris, watched a review on this season finale, don't know why i did). Watching what happened there the first time, I was shocked and traumatized even. I say traumatized because for some reason I forgot about this show until now, when I heard there was going to be an Owl House x Amphibia crossover. Then I watched Owl House first ( I heard it was good, turned out great). Then I finally watched this show, but before i did, that memory of ??? Even though Gravity Falls and Amphibia are both popular I doubt many people focus on those 2 great shows specifically as much as me. I know that at this point in the series it is starting to look like a long shot that we could get as much Gravity Falls in Amphibia as I was hoping for since there is so much left to wrap up in Amphibia but I am really hoping that the 2 series will get a big cross over as part of the plot as opposed to just a reference. Amphibia had lots of references that were probably nothing other than Easter eggs but in the case of episode Wax Museum it is cannon that their are frog versions of those characters in this shows and Frog Soos actually says "do you ever wonder if there are alternate versions of us" which could make the human Gravity Falls characters cannon as well. Dipper= Blue, Mabel= Pink, and Soos= Green. The book Marcy found didn’t just have Bill in it; it was written by P and that could stand for Planter or it could stand for Pines. I know this is unlikely but partly because of the cross over fan boy in me and partly because I don’t want this show to end I would love if season 3 Amphibia ended like this. They stop king Andrias and his weapons but his castle or all of Amphibia is crashing down on Earth and an even greater threat is unleashed. Then at the very end they track down “THE AUTHOR” of that book/ journal to find if “P” can help them and then at the very end of the last episode of Amphibia they open a door to reveal the Pines family! Next they end the episode but show a new intro that involves Amphibia falling to Earth and begin an entirely new series Amphibia Falls! Bill's final words (backwords): A-X-O-L-O-T-L, my time has come to burn! I invoke the ancient power that I may return! Axolotl is an AMPHIBIAN!!!!!
