The reason that theres a big ocean underneath the Map is that a lot of games have one singular water plain underneath the map and whenever they need lakes or rivers they simply stretch that surface up so that they dont need to have multiple physics simulations running at once.
Why couldn't he work that out? He was genuinely surprised every time he found water. Mindblowing.
@@mojorisin8368 TO be fair, I wouldn't think of it because I'm the kind of person who adds water when I need water and keeps the rest of the map an endless void. So... I can understand the shock by some because to be fair I expected the games to not have an endless water void.
@@kellmedd4925 like every game has that : zelda witcher gta everythinnnng
Thats always like thee first Thing the des start with
But thats heavier lol
The reason there is so much land outside the map is because the devs don't want you to see the edge of the map. Like if you go to the tallest mountains in the game, you can see these areas, plus they want you to think the map is even bigger than it is.
Exactly, I'm pretty sure they're just there to block further view of the outside edges. Another theory I had was the out of bounds terrain could've been used for depth or background on deloaded terrain
yep, it’s to make the scope of the game look big, and it is. what’s impressive is how much of it you can actually traverse without mods.
its like with bridges in open world games to there's a lake normally that you would go over by the bridge and the game feels bigger than it is because of that bridge and without it would just feel smaller
I can see that. In RDR1 if you stand at Nekoti Rock and look across Flat Iron Lake its pretty evident where the edge is.
Yea hopefully Gta VI will do this, I was never a fan of the gta maps just being islands it just felt off
Cause of that flying horse he explored more outside the map in 15 min than I did after around 17 hours of total exploring by not flying horse. Love your content. Your gonna blow up soon

did u know that if u went farther south u would reach guarma ?
@@ah-uq1cj hmm i did not know until after the video. but yes that is very cool
6:52: I love how when you go east from the map, it literally just turns into the Midwest
Actually that Ocean is where Guarma is. On the red dead map Guarma is situated to the West of the normal map. Which you know is supposed to be surrounded by water.
East, not west
In Another video I saw a fella rode a horse to Guarma by going around New Austin and back east to just south of Rhodes
@@MrFusion oh no it's west of the map.
Guarma is south of the normal map and under it just correcting you;) (what happens is you gonna reach guarma going by anyway out of map but south is the best one to reach guarma with a horse)

7:59 - since you have access to mods you probably can brake that invisible barrier, since Shesez, i think it's him, made a video where he went all the way to the end of the ocean / horizon and the skybox turned bright white, you can't see nothing more besides white and the mini - map, by that point you can only move the cursor, the player just gets stuck there.
The thing is that he made that part of the clip so fast that made me want to see more.
Cool investigation. I think you will find a body of water starting on every far edge of the map. I believe this is a death barrier mechanism "just in case" the player makes their ways that far OOB.
The Guarma glitch (~10 min) is there because, apparently, Guarma is the only part of the map that loads independently.
At the edge of the map, there is ocean in every direction.
You died when you fell into the water because you were to high up
There is actually Mexico in the game which they planned to add but didn't. You can find a prison model from RDR1 there
same thing the actually doesn’t make a lot of sense because in the 1800s New Orleans (which is what Saint Denis is based off of) looked almost identical to Saint Denis it was only litter on where they expanded to the other side of the Mississippi River, and New Orleans is not on the edge of an ocean. It’s surrounding a river like in red dead redemption so if you cross the river of Saint Denis, there’s more land like in real life so that does make sense.
The reason why you saw a glitch is because you were entering and exiting gurama
7:27 i just realized that this could be lake erie, it depends though
California, is the state i live 💀💀💀.
Imagine John going to Los Santos

and the same if you go far out from the ocean in gta 5 lol
I bet you cant find tahiti next time😂
if they would have made the extra zones the game would have lag

This video has gotta be a joke
Shame rdr2 is a husk of the potential we could of had.
Thanks to the success of the greedy cesspool that is GTA 5 Online we will never get real DLC expansions again. Flying cars require less effort and make just as much coin.

Can't be California. No pan handlers
It's pretty funny how little research is done here by you. If you have such little idea how games work then hold off on posting about them
Now Arthur can go to his country club in Calfornia
this got me😭
Me too 😭
Hehe!
So he wasn't being sarcastic to the doctor. He actually has a country club in California but he sadly couldn't go there because it was out of bounds :(
The map wasn’t glitching at the end. You were simply hitting loading points for Guarma. The game unloads the main map and loads in Guarma for Chapter 5. If you wondered around a bit more you would’ve found out that the whole island is there and it’s solid ground you can walk on, this is because the entire island of Guarma was planned to be a playable map but due to time constraints Chapter 5 was significantly cut back, you would’ve found the main Guarma area you play in on the west coast of the island. It’s truly fascinating that this entire island is there outside the map
I dont think it was constraints but just scrapped content
@@dankbacon55 realistically we don’t know and we’ll never know. I always just assumed that since Red Dead’s release date was delayed they were working until the very end so Guarma had to be cut back because they didn’t have enough time until release date
Yes u are one hundred percent correct we were supposed to get their by a boat ticket and riding a boat and u would hit a cutscenes and after it u would be just arriving their it was found in the game files
Kinda reminds me of north Yankton in GTA
You are correct. I found a video a while back of someone who rode his horse to guarma.

Actuall 1904 since the epilouge is in 1904 and he plays as john
@@gigicernescu6642Ackshually,both parts of the epilogue are set in 1907. And then RDR1 is set in 1911,with its epilogue set in 1914.
The reason why those far out of map lands have low textures is for sure to preserve memory.. no reason to make It all look prestine, the player isn't supposed to see those places up close but for certain angles in some parts of the map we can see parts of those out of map places.. but seen from far away they look perfect.

Fun fact: Most of these outside map areas will be reused in RDR3.
They did same with RDR for RDR2.
You can still find in original game RDR2 pre-alpha design, they reworked on plenty parts of the map giving more details.
Don’t think they will do an rdr3 though
@@Bmoneydollarsign they might, one of rockstar owners said if they profit off of rdr2 they will make another one. And they made some profit of rdr2

dude knows nothing about game development
8:57 that actually isn't entirely inaccurate: New Orleans isn't technically on the coast, there's still bayou south of it
yeah, a more realistic version would be:
new hannover and west elizabeth as texas
lemoyne as louisiana
ambarino as oaklahoma
nuevo leon as northern mexico
southern texas as new austin
@@beatmodera more accurate version would be New Hanover as Nebraska, Kansas, and Arkansas. Ambarino as Colorado and Wyoming, Lemoyne as Louisiana, West Elizabeth as Colorado and Northern California. New Austin as New Mexico, Arizona and southeastern California. Nuevo Paraiso would be the Mexican states of Chihuahua and Sonora.
Mississippi south Lemonye
Tbh I think it’s just a coincidence and it’s not actually California but it’s a cool, little theory ig
Tell me you know nothing about game design with an 11 minute video..
Most people playing games don't know anything about design or coding, they simply game
Lmao fr and the comments section is just as idiotic as this dude
I mean, Tall Trees is California. Tall Trees being a reference to the Redwoods and if you study the bighorn sheep in the area they all say Sierra Nevada Bighorn sheep.
Also, Strawberry is apparently based on a town of the same name in California.
Cali is name dropped though as a place that exists
I see it more as the canon Colorado, but it is based off a mix of many states.
The reason why the map changes in the south and near Ohio is whenever you do the mission in chapter 4 you head South and you get to Guama
Horse could not hold it In😂 1:07
Imagine shit falling from the sky and hitting you and then you look up and see a man flying a horse across the land
Those Green mountains at the end of the video looked a lot like gta5 style 😂 was almost expecting to see the vinewood sign lol
Well a few years later they will build that
Rdr3 brings California into play and the map just keeps getting bigger until rdr5 until the entire US is the map
At a point it will be a one to one recreation of the US
There's not gonna be an RDR5💀
Well the way that most games like this work is that they will have a sea level at a certain point so what you thought was rockstar making california in rdr2 was just the end of the land they decided to create as the land that on what you think to be the coast is where rockstar probably thought nobody would go so why bother making more land? That is why the coast is a straight line.
Dude finish the game first and then make this videos, how you’re not gonna know what Guarma is.
10:06 That’s Tahiti
Guy legit used the oppressor mark horse
Many open-world games, and to my knowledge all Rockstar ones, have an ocean under the map that drags on forever. It's there in San Andreas, and there would be no reason for it not to be there in RDR2. It doesn't prove anything, it's just that you will see ocean wherever land ends and Rockstar didn't ever need a tool to create infinite land in any of their games, thus they don't have infinite land but they do have infinite water because they needed that for GTA.
The reason for having ocean everywhere is that it makes everything easier for the devs. They don't have to hide the seams anywhere on the actual ocean of the map, and they have a decent point of reference for how high up any specific part of land should be.
Great content but the reason the why the land is so unredered is because if you go up high it would be more realistic but no one’s meant to be there so they don’t put anything there
Yeah this guys a moron
@@hiyves9880why?
seriously underrated channel. i love your content man
thank u so much
If the map was going to be a bit bigger, it would simply be an addition of Mexico. Hell, even New Austin was a stretch for Rockstar, as it was added in late In development to satisfy fans after the initial teasers/trailers.
All the terrain that surrounds the map is just randomly generated (maybe except for this weird little bay on the eastern edge? Also, there's a lake/river source that's a remnant of beta development just beyond NH's nothern edge). It's low poly because the player is really only supposed to see it from an extreme distance. If something was actually planned, you would have a lot more flat areas, cliffs, river beds, general signs of a more artificially molded terrain.
The only piece of terrain that actually fits this description is the ENTIRE island of Guarma. I believe early in development, you were supposed to have more access to Guarma, and there would be a lot more locations. However something must've happened and now the main area is only the northwestern/west coast.
If you want a really good in-depth series of RDR2 out-of-bounds exploration, I highly recommend checking out Basement Gamer Bros.
maybe its just me, but ive always felt new austin looked like it was rushed. it looked more like rdr1 to me than rdr2, maybe this is why
Well I assume rockstar would of thought of California since all of the dialogue but I don't think they would of put it in the game its just the edge of the map so you you don't see just ocean
"It glitches out". Save the explanation videos for the pro's.
That's just generic land that is a distance placeholder so that you think the map is "endless" by playing legit. When in reality, it's cut short because you aren't supposed to be there and they have nothing to offer you. When the map changes, it's because you hit a loading zone. 2 maps can't exist on the same coordinates. Therefore, the priority map is called in to take the place of another map.
Also, you fell from up high. Try standing on the water and see if you die or can actually swim.
3:03 tbh, it's the other way around. In these open world games the water level is set first, so basically the ocan is created first. Then they build the land on top or even below that. I've got some insight in this topic of game creating, since I used to be a modder for TES4: Oblivion back in the days, creating entire new questlines and continents as well.
Breath of the Wild/Tears of the Kingdom did the same
1:30 quite an accurate map
The out of bounds nonrendered textures are to make up for the US and Mexico that's not part of the game. It's to prevent the map from looking incomplete like with V's where Nevada, San Francisco and San Diego is just ocean where there's supposed to be land.
hey can please explore the surface of the ocean right there, please, nice job man!!
Part of the red dead redemption 2 map is in California the western part of new Austin would be the Mojave desert in California.

You shoudl try getting in every direction, x y and z. By that i mean use a xyz teleported to see what changes when you teleport far and far each time. Something like artkoval did in gta (exploring outside the map, reaching letter n on the radar, exploring the space and more if im not wrong)
You know you found Guama
California is gta v
some of the very far west of the game is part of the mojave desert and could be part of california, we can tell because of the joshua trees
Yep and Cholla Springs is Southern Arizona with it's Saguaros and Other cacti of the Sonoran Desert
Its tahiti
There is a cool way to go outside the map: in the Big Valley there is a little cave (there lives a crazy hermit too), go inside until you reach a dead end with a large hole- drink moonshine until you pass out- boom you are spawning outside the map. I did this to get John to Guarma and let me tell you it took me many hours to get there XD you can actually ride with a horse if you find one (animals outside do absolutly nothing, they just stand there even wolfs and such 😂) and you can go pretty far outside until you reach blurry land.
9:10 this is probably part of Guarma Map.
Good video mate, cheers from Austria ✌
I've always glitched across the river to Mexico (guns and first person trick). I discovered that by the lake in the east you can call your horse. This is probably the only place where you can do that.
The last location you went to is where guarma is located, rockstar put it far away so players wouldn’t see it, and it looks like rockstar was going to expand on guarma and possibly add another island
Damn he found vice city.
Why horse walking in the air so funny 🤣
I also really wish they added Wisconsin and Minnesota

The part of south was guarma if im right. theres a glitch in the game if you get drunk near the end of the map in new austin you can spawn on the glitchy area and then if you run south u will fall and get onto guarma so im guessing thats what u saw
