pale person deep thoughts: if I'm so pale I look like blob of pure light on camera anyways, does it really matter if my foundation has flashback? XD
Stephanie Vincent I had a similar though that if your foundation oxidises but then has flashback will the photo even itself out back to your normal face colour haha

daria stone Have you tried the Kat Von D concealers? ☺ L1 is the lightest I've ever come across and is my skintone match, but she also has a pure white for mixing/highlighting.
Kat Von D Concealer Creme in White Out is a match for my skin tone, but it might highlight on you.
Kristy Kelly I think BH cosmetics may have a white concealer now too, which would be a more affordable alternative 😄

I was always told I had a cool/ pink base and foundations always looked off?? I went to Georgio Armani to be matched saying a needed the fairest cool foundation they had, this is when I had my Eureka moment, the makeup guy smiled and said ” your white as snow of course your cheeks are a bit pink, But look at the skin on your neck, chest it is definitely neutral/warm “ he was right and now I know the base that suits me my foundation looks great, moral of the story most pale girls have a bit of pink in their face but always match foundation to your neck! It took me twenty years of wearing makeup to realise this 😔 xx

Deborah o That’s so true! We need to match it to the rest of the body, not to the face. Face is usually showing up redness, especially on pale skin. But honestly, I went to be shade matched (although I know my shades) just out of curiosity, and she was insisting to match the foundation shade to my face only as she said “ you’re not going to be putting foundation on your neck” lol, that’s the point of matching foundation to the rest of the body to avoid smearing it on the neck as well. I was so disappointed lol.
Deborah o can you give examples of colors you wear? I am pretty sure I am pale/olive and because of redness in my face, I always get matched to cool foundation and look sunburnt, lol. It's nice to find other neutral/warm gals :)
Of course no trouble Nars Siberia this is probably the most yellow in undertone Mac NC10, YSL B10 and Chanel 10 beige, need to be careful with Chanel though they don’t always run pale enough! I find it is better to be matched in store because getting the undertone and then a shade fair enough can be quite a feat! Illamasqua also do a shade 2 which runs very fair and neutral, sometimes mixing foundations helps I use a white illamasqua for this and the Nars Siberia due to its real yellow base. Hope this helps.
I had the same problem. What those doing colour matching do not realise is that the pink in the face is often pigmentation and they should be looking past this to the undertone to decide whether they are cool or warm, thus the neck is the best place to match. My current fave for my warm (white as snow) skin is Mehron hd in light 2. I got a sample of the Lancôme one but it is so perfumed I can't wear it and I can't find a dupe for it though 😔
I just found your channel and it's changed my life! I'm not good at makeup but I tried Maybelline fit me based on your list and for only 12 dollars, my skin looks better than ever and I'm sure your higher end suggestions are even better. Your face looks stunning and flawless yet natural.

I don't comment on a lot of UA-cam videos but I really wanted to share how I found your channel and why I'm enjoying watching your videos!
I have struggled with foundations as long as I can remember and for a long time I didn't wear them due to the hassle (I just did the concealer with tinted powder on top, "no makeup" look). Then I decided to go to my local Sephora and get shade matched to finally know. They matched me with the Too Faced Born This Way foundation in the shade Swan and I thought that there was no way I needed that light of a shade (I apparently have been in major pale-ness denial!), but I got a sample and tried it out and the color was perfect! I found your channel because of your review on that foundation and wanted to know what other foundations worked for you to see if they would work for me too.
I have already sampled/bought/loved so many of the products that you have listed in your videos. To name a few: the BareMinerals Invisible Glow Highlighter in Fair to Light, the Too Faced Love Flush Blush in Baby Love, and the Lancôme Monsieur Big Mascara. And I still have a large list of items you've recommended that I want to try soon!

This is soooo useful! I completely agree with you about high end foundations generally being better. I find that cheaper foundations tend to oxidise more too.
I've tried all the ones you mentioned apart from the Lancome. For me, the Marc Jacobs has been the best. I think I may need to get a sample of the Lancome now though!

Hi Arna, you mentioned a few products you mix with foundations -would you consider a review on whitening/lightening mixers for foundations? (Illamasqua white skin base, Australis whitening drops, NYX mixer, Kat von d white concealer, etc). Would be so helpful to hear which you'd recommend for foundations that are the right undertone but just a shade too deep, and would also be great to know how the mixers affect consistency/ coverage x 😊

The Kat Von D foundation is thick and can look cakey, but if you mix it with the matching primer like they recommend it becomes more luminous and lighter coverage based on how much you mix. I find that it's the best way to wear it.

LOOOVE Lancome foundations. Ive been wearing lancome foundation for years. For the last few years(before that i used an older discontinued version) ive been using the tient idole ultra and im the same shade 090. I actually had the darker shade for awhile too but the 090 was a waaay better match.
Ive been kind of curious in exploring other foundations but im happy with my lancome so i dont really see a need too. The other brands do intrigue me though. Thanks for this.

I mix L41 and L43 together, because L43 is just a bit too dark in the winter, while L41 is a bit too pale. Mixing both of those works for my undertone.

The Kat Von D in L41 is a great match for me! I've also heard wonderful things about a line called Idun Minerals, but it can be very hard to get in certain countries. Their fairest shade is supposedly super light as well.

I love how you used the hourglass lipstick to point to each foundation 😂 using L41 and the YSL is a really good Idea. My skin is really dry at the moment and the lock it doesn’t look great but this made me think maybe the YSL touche eclat foundation and the L41 would be a good match as the touché eclat is very dewy 🤔🤔 although I’ve got to get a sample of the Lancôme finally ! + Can’t wait for the tutorial for this look 😍👏

I actually use the Lancôme foundation in ivoire (a bit too dark) mixed with the KVD 41. KVD is a very good color match for me, but it's a bit too heavy and dry for my skin and I love the Lancôme formula on my skin.
I loved the lancome foundation when I got a sample but when I looked into reviews people have rightfully pointed out that the 3rd ingredient is alcohol denat which can affect the skin negatively, so I ended up buying the estee lauder double wear which I think is quite similar. I'm looking forward to the tutorial on the makeup you're wearing it's fabulous!

It definitely isn't that pale. In the Uk they have a 1n0 shade which I got shipped all the way to australia because I'm more neutral. I would get a sample and see if you can make it work. If not you could add some white pigment or mix it with a lighter foundation. I didn't have much of a choice because I needed to invest in a foundation that wouldn't slide right off in the heat and humidity of an australian summer, and I wanted to go with the lancome but I have sensitive and reactive skin (I hate redness) so I didn't want to take a chance on the alcohol denat in it. Indonesia also sells Maybelline foundation in the matte and poreless formula, but it only has 16 shades at most 😢😭. The lightest shade (115 Ivory) may not be light enough for anyone who has incredibly fair skin and the darkest shade (322 Warm Honey) will still be too light for those who have dark to very dark skin tones 😔. If I were to purchase the Fit Me Matte and Poreless foundation here in Indonesia, I won't be able to find a shade for my skin tone, sadly ☹😢
P.S. I play around with different shades and different formulas via Maybelline's virtual try-on 🤗😀. The virtual try-on makes shade matching faster and less time consuming and fun to play around with.
You need to try Gerda Spillmann bio-fond foundation. I get the shade called "Hightlighter", great for pale skin.
could you make a video dedicated to very pale foundations with yellow undertones? It's so hard finding something to match me considering ivory is usually way too dark but yellow so I can't get the coverage when I use a mixer. Ahhhhhh

I struggled to find pale foundation.. I used to use Korean Misha BB cream, but they are more like cream and are not good on skin as they stay on clothes :(
Then I did Maybeline Dream Mousse in shade Light Porcelain which was ok, but made me skin very patchy and coverage wasn't so great..
One of my friends recommended me Clinique Beyond Perfection which I personally adore!! but 0.5 breeze its waay to dark for me!! :(
I went to the shop and asked for the lightest foundation they have and lady gave me was Rimmel lasting 25th (silver top) in shade 010 light porcelain..
Its pinky and looks nice, but its only medium coverage, so it has to do for now..
Anyway!' I will go and test these ones!! THANK YOU SO MUCH!! I love being Pale and my partner is very keen on me embracing it, so these foundations might be the solution! Thanks again :))

Ainhoa Same here, but I have oily skin. Try mixing in a moisturizer or primer with them and it'll make them a bit more luminous and lighter coverage.
+Belby Blasphemy I did this technique this morning with a different foundation that just wasn’t sitting well on my skin and it helped so much! Try this and then only put concealer on areas you need the full coverage :)
0022 I do it! And still doesn't work with heavily pigmented foundations. It must be quite hydrating or bb creams to look good on my skin.
Would highly suggest the Milk Makeup Blur Foundation in the lightest shade. It has a nice skin like/satin finish, hydrates and plums my dry skin. The formula blurs texture and its full coverage and wears well!!
I had the same problem but I tried the belief face set...they have a foaming face was i use with my elxfoliafting face brush, an eye cream, toner, hydrating water, and moisturizer. I started with a travel set of them at sephora. And they changed my life! Best 10 bucks I've spent. Now I broke down and spent the money for all full size and they last forever.
I wish the Lancome foundation could work for me without mixing! 😭 They don't have a shade that's pale or yellow enough for me, and I live in America so I have all of the shades available to me.
Arna are u going to talk about Huda Foundation? BWT, u should try Revlon ColorStay in the Shade Ivory (it's close to NW10, you can put a little of white Mixer). And, in the Swatch Mac NC10 looks pretty close to Marc Jacobs Ivory Light

This is exactly what I have to do with illamasqua. Sb02 is the right shade bit wrong tone so I mix white and sb03.

I always liked the look and feel of the Illamasqua skin base, but it's the only product I own that I know for sure breaks me out. I think it's the isostearic acid or the stearic acid (or both), but you can't be sure of course.

Thank you for this!! Strangely enough the MAC Studio Fix Fluid in NC10 does turn yellow on me. :( Have to try NW10 because I like the formula. And I've had luck with shade 102 in Maybelline, but the Superstay foundation rather than Fit Me. Wish I could wear my Kat Von D in L42 more, but it feels too thick & heavy for everyday.

Hi, what about the lancome shade 005 on you ? It's my go to foundation since 5 years it's simply amazing in my opinion ! I'm blonde and very pale just like you, but I've tried the 008 new shade and I assume it was too neutral or too pale for me. 005 looks more natural on me. Kisses from France

Thank you for this video. I have tried 4 different shades of the Lancôme and they didn’t quite work. I have to mix 2 together. My face is super pink and neck has some yellow. Ugh. Love the Marc Jacobs but that packaging is so awful. My bottle is a mess.

I use the lightest of Kat Von D but it's still too yellow.
All the pale foundations are ussually very high coverage which I don't like at all since I am 18. and I am extremly neutral that i look pure white I don't lean yellow nor pink. Mufe hd concealer in lightest shade is okayish for my skin. Kvd L42 is way too dark. I'd be glad if you can recommend me something ^^
+mekselina türker The Sephora Airspray Foundation in Cream is pretty amazing for very pale skin and gives a nice light coverage! Best to spray directly onto a brush or beauty blender, and then apply! I have an old review of it on my channel x

I still haven't found my holy grail foundation. I'm very pink and normal to dry and brands just do not make products like that. The kvd 42 looks like a nice shade but but formula for my skin type and I only use cruelty free cosmetics. I'll have to look at the illamasqua shade but I don't know of any shops in aus that sell the brand these days. I have too faced snow but it's a too yellow for me.

I have tried lancome and maybelline but they both are very dry and chalky looking. What moisturizer do you use under it?? Do you use primer? I don't have oily, just normal, that can be sensitive .Thanks again
I use the Hourglass Mineral Veil Primer :) and the moisturiser I’m using at the moment is just pure Marula oil x

I love the nars sheer glow foundation, but the lightest shade Siberia is way to yellow, and the next shade Mont Blanc is way to dark. I could cry! 😭😭 Is there any pink color mixing drops or something like that?
Haha seriously I’ve literally wanted to become rich by producing undertone adjusting drops because damn we need them!! My suggestion is to buy Mont Blanc and use a white mixer like Illamasqua Skin Base in 02 (or actually go check out Thataylaa’s video on white mixers!)

What is a good full coverage foundation for dry skin? Can I use the Lancome one or I would look cakey?
Lancome works ok, but even better with an emollient base underneath! x

How are these foundations for settling in fine lines? I was matched to a $60 foundation and found that it settles in my smile lines and ages my face (even with primer), which is ridiculous since I'm only in my 20s! Also, it seems that the hypr.lik links are not working - I got an error on the Kat Von D Lock It Tattoo Foundation link.
I would avoid the Marc Jacob’s remarcable as that definitely settles into lines. The Studio Fix Fluid or Lancôme might be your best bet!

Have you found any other drugstore foundations that match the shade of Maybelline 102? I really want another drugstore option in my life but I haven't been able to find one.
Try Nyx HD Drops in Alabaster or Porcelain (there are a few pale shades... not sure exactly which one would match Maybelline 102) xx

So strange my problem with the Kat Von D L42 is it's way to neutral and no where near pink enough for me so it ends up looking chocky without a peachy pink tinted setting powder over top of it and the L44 is like 4 shades too dark but the Marc Jacobs 10 Ivory is perfect for me not too neutral and has just enough pink to match my undertone. The Hourglass Immaculate Finish Matteifying Foundation in Blanc is totally full coverage and comes in a shade pale enough. Sadly I cant try the Lancome in the 007 or the Canadian color 110 since I seem to be freakishly pink since it's such a pain finding shades pink enough but I just cant do it.

Arna Alayna Yeah but it sucks that it's so damn expensive what I wouldn't do for a foundation in my shade that works on my skin that dosen't cost $70 a bottle.
Tammy St. Jean Revlon colorstay in 110 is very pink toned. It's light enough for me but way to pink I have to add 4 drops of white mac face and body foundation.
I have always been curious about the lightest shade in the Hourglass, I might have to try it out. Thanks
kikibuzz25 Thanks for the suggestion but I cant use Revlon either I'm a 100% cruelty free with all the products I use and Revlon tests on animals.
I love essence they have a bunch of amazing products but if you need a foundation cheap I would go with the Wet n' Wild Photo Focus it's under $10 and has lighter shades I have to use the Rose shade and add white drops to it since I'm so pink but the Shell Ivory should work sadly the Porcelain is yellow as hell. As for cheap mascara NYX makes a few really good affordable ones but the best I find is Physicians Formula for mascara. Oh and the best white drops out there are The Body Shop ones their only $23 Canadian as the MAC ones are $45 Canadian.
