The Esprit is one of my all time dream cars. I think the original Giorgetto Giugiaro are the purest form of 70's Lotus wedge but the Peter Stevens update was definitely of the time and gave the car a more sophisticated appearance. The early cars didn't just borrow tail lights, I seem to recall Marina door handles too. Renault 25 gearboxes I believe also appeared in some versions. With regard to movie appearances Bond had three Esprit, the early car in The Spy Who Loved Me and two Turbo's in For your eyes only as there was also a white one which exploded early on in the film. The X180 did indeed pop up in Pretty woman but also in Term Agent (also titled If Looks Could Kill in some regions) The S4 looked very sleek with slim front turn signals and curvavious rear spoiler and side skirts. I remember the V8 launching and the Sport 350 pretty late on in the life of the Esprit. There was a magazine shoot out featuring a V8 esprit and a Ferrari F355 and the Esprit managed to put grip the Ferrari in the bends.
Over the past 45 years l've kept almost all of the sports and exotics l've bought. In 2003 l bought a new S4 V-8. I knew it was soon to be discontinued and figured l'd add it to the collection. It broke constantly. Trans exploded, dead short in the wiring harness caused a small fire in the dash, misfire that took 3 months to isolate and a few more things. I had enough and sold it. The brief periods that it worked it seemed nice
Hi man I live 5 miles from the factory in the uk. I have a 85 turbo. Glad to see you loving this lotus.
Nice! It’s a place I’d love to visit.
Cool car ! I've liked the Lotus Esprit for as long as I can remember. Great video, great channel, thank you, and cheers !
Thank you for the kind words and your support, it is very much appreciated!
