Thank you for this video. Years ago, I sat in a conference, and one of the legends of that field were speaking. I hung on every word. Looking for those tidbits that would make a difference. I looked around the room, and it seemed as though no one else was paying attention, They were on their laptops or phones, engaged in other things. I could not believe that they would miss out on a presentation from someone who had had the success they could only dream of. When I get the opportunity to hear or see a legend, I want to be like a sponge, and absorb anything and everything I can.
Tim, a great tribute to these gentlemen. They say don’t meet your heroes, but it’s clear these guys break that tradition. Thanks for sharing these tips and stories.
Thanks so much, and you sure said that correct! Hope all is going well, and appreciate you taking a moment to comment. Tim
The best comment that Tom Rosenbauer said was “ I have days that I don’t catch fish” . Is honesty and is so down to earth refreshing. I tend to listen to those guys
Tom is one of fly fishing's top ambassadors, and an excellent individual to listen to. Thanks for taking a moment to share! Tim
This the best content you have ever put out
Thanks so much, and glad you gained from it! Feel free to share with your fishing buddies, it's appreciated. Tim
Who I look up to and follow and are Legends to me are Pat Dorsey, Charlie Craven, Kelly Galloup, Greg Garcia, Hopper Juan, and Tom Rosenbauer to name just a few. From tying bugs to tips on the streams, these guys are the top. And Tim, your list is pretty damn good as well. Thanks for sharing!!
Appreciate you sharing, those are some legends! Tim www.troutandfeather.com
This was really fun to watch and inspiring. When I was a little boy, my father had friends named Ed and Lee Baun. They lived in Bishop, California and both were world class fly anglers. Lee used to compete against some of the best like Joan Wulff. I remember them practicing in their backyard, dropping flies into a thimble from what seemed like an impossible distance. I didn't learn to fly fish back then. Which I wish I could go back and fix. But I think of them all these years (56ish) as I continue to learn the magical journey of fly angling. It's my favorite thing to do. And I am certain for everyone commenting here, that it's your favorite thing too!
Really appreciate the story, Dave, and especially this part: Fly fishing is a magical journey. Well said. Tim www.troutandfeather.com
Really legendary lessons! Thanks so much Tim.
You're welcome, and please feel free to share with others! Tim
"Tim, your video on Fly Fishing Legends was absolutely fantastic! I thoroughly enjoyed every minute of it. The way you highlighted the rich history and showcased the legends of the sport was both inspiring and informative. You really captured the essence of what makes fly fishing so special. Thanks for creating such a memorable experience!"
Thanks so much, Richard, that means a lot to me that the video spoke to you. I hope all is well! Tim www.troutandfeather.com
Thanks for this video Tim it was very informative
You're welcome, Mario, and I hope all is well!
I saw Mr Humphreys at a demonstration. At the end he he said if any of you want to stay and askkl , questions, I'd be glad to answer. And then he said people sat I have great equipment, no wonder you can cast so well. He said it's no the equipment, it's the technique. He peeled all the line out of his reel and took the tip of his 4 piece Winston rod and cast all 30 yards plus leader flat on the ground!! Unbelievable
Definitely a legend! Thanks for sharing that story. Tim www.troutandfeather.com
Thanks Tim, I was thinking I had not seen a fly tying or fishing video from you in a while. Glad you did this. These guys are just what you said and we are blessed to learn from them. Tight lines.
Scott, thanks for checking in! Many of my videos have been posted as Shorts, as I spend most of the summer fishing (Iceland, Alaska, and OBX this summer). There will be a bunch of new content to my channel this fall and winter...stay tuned! Tim www.troutandfeather.com
Thanks Tim, looking forward to them. Tight lines.
Love it, Tim. Thanks for sharing.
Appreciate the kind words, Cory, and hope to connect with you soon! Tim
Fly fishing legends come from PA!
Some definitely do!! Tim
This is a wonderful, and very moving, video, Tim. I found the segment devoted to Joe Humphreys especially riveting. It did occasion a thought/question. The way Joe fishes is very different from how the comp anglers (like Devin Olsen) go about it. In your view, is the Humphreys' method "outdated" when it comes to the highest level of nymphing in today's comp world (that is, if it were comp legal to fish the way Joe does, would a superior angler using this method stand a chance against anglers using micro leaders with no added weight besides the nymphs)?
Hi Alex, and thanks for taking the time to comment, always great to hear from you! Re: comparing methods, that's tough to say for many reasons. For example, in fly fishing competitions, they are restricted (i.e. no split shot). Also, fish respond differently to various techniques and presentations. In short, the best anglers use a variety of techniques and tactics, thus many parts of Joe's fishing (tuck cast, fly placement, fly design) would be welcome and effective. This is just my opinion and would love to hear others chime in. Thanks again for starting the conversation! Tim
Your amongst them Tim.....
Very kind of you to say, but I have a long journey ahead before I get anywhere near their level. Thank you for such kind words. Tim
Good stuff Tim! Though you couldn’t interview Lefty it would be interesting if you did with his apprentice Ed Jaworowski (near Philly). Have known him for years - a true Annie Oakley of fly casting and has several books out on the subject.
Thanks so much, James, and if you're able to connect me with Ed, that would be great! My email is: tcammisa@gmail.com Thanks!
