As recently as the 1980s The Florida Keys were a nice destination. It wasn't much more than a collection of marinas, bait and tackle shops, and mediocre little restaurants. Lobster traps were stacked on the sides of the road, the local folks piled coconuts at the end of their driveways - with hand-painted signs advertising that they'd like to get 25 cents apiece - "self-service". It was a quiet, out-of-the-way place where a souvenir t-shirt was not easily acquired. But then they were "discovered" by The Rich and Pointless, who rapidly moved in to "improve" things to their standards. And the party animals began coming down by the thousands. The last time I was there, I never saw a single lobster trap, and the bait shops had become bars filled with noisy drunks, while the self-service coconut stands were replaced by high concrete walls - with massive, towering monstrosities behind them. You used to be surrounded by all sorts of tropical fish the second your face hit the water; spiny lobsters were everywhere. Now all you see is beer cans and wine cooler bottles when you are snorkeling. And you have to keep a constant lookout for morons blasting around on waverunners who have NO CLUE what a "diver down" flag means. It's all over but the crying.
This brings back beautiful memories of my childhood in South Florida. I didn’t live in the keys but I did visit several times and absolutely loved it! Florida will always be my home☀️🌸❤️♥️🏝
i was so in love with this show and it inspired me with every amazing scene and amazing foods if there is one place id like to visit in the states this would be miami and the keys,been to florida a few times and fell in love,i def will put the keys on my list one day,i enjoyed this show so much i had to find it online and chromecast it on my tv for the family to watch ,they loved it ,thank you
