Back in 1975 as a 18 y/o teenager living in the country near Lodi California, I was thinking this song as part of our 200th anniversary of our nation and patriotic sung by this talented singer.
I don't think the Norman Rockwell parade is Philadelphia, chech out Fresh Prince's "Summetime" because while closer to the truth, probably still isn't Phily.
I never figured out 'Why Soul Train' invited Elton to their show --- He was not an RnB singer -- and this song is nowhere near RnB sound ---- I wonder why Don Cornelius wanted Elton on his show ?
Who really cares? This and Bennie and the Jets were two of the greatest hits of the 70s and as a black guy myself, they’re two of my favourite all time songs ever! The Soul Train crowd loved them, Elton loved being there and it gave the show more audience reach. Simple really
@@SC1Wso true. Also my 2 fav Elton John tracks. This was on the radio this morning as I was getting ready for work. Been in my head all day ffs! Cape Town,South Africa. ❤
