The first pair "Arakis" has been discontinued. Looking on the Icon site it looks like it's been rebranded as "Contra2". Sold on Fort9 for about the same price.

I've been watching your older videos and I'm impressed at the quality right out of the gate. I appreciate Ryan's laid back attitude. I do enjoy Revzilla but I find them to be more "in your face" and I don't always need that energy.
I do wonder though, is Ryan the only one who works at F9?

Thanks! I'm definitely not the only one working here! FortNine is an online store for motorcycle gear, so most of TeamF9 works on the retail side of things. For UA-cam, it's usually just myself and my videographer buddy working on these videos. ~RyanF9

Thanks for your excellent review as usual. I bought Olympia Airglide 3 on sale for $130 US shipped. Hip and knee armor but no tailbone armor.
I haven't yet worn them on a long enough ride to comment however.
Stay with it. You are amongst the best reviewers on the interweb.

A little late but... Alpinestars Sonoran Air Drystar pants from FortNine last year, in grey/black. Like them a lot. 6'2", 34". Mesh with water/wind liner and D30 knees. Supplemented the hip armour with the pads from my replaced Rhino pants. Fit great, comfy, fit over big Corozal boots and look good without feeling like a snowsuit. Cool in summer, add liner, and long-undies with the seasons. I rode 4C in them, no probs.

I've been loving my tourmaster venture air pants, they have a rain liner and a quilted warmth liner. They are a perfect year round pant for Texas since it never really gets super cold. I don't look cool wearing em, but i'm not trying to so who cares. Safety>Fashion. Plus the venture air 2.0's came out, so the original models are on sale if you can still find them in stock somewhere in your size.

I'm sporting the Sedechi Alexi mesh pants.
    Pros:
    Price
    Ventilation
    Thermal and rain layer
    Fits is pretty spot on
    Cons:
    Weight
Extra layers you have to lug around if not worn.

Like normal textile gear, mesh protects pretty well in a slide (it's tough cord material), but while loose/relaxed fit is best for airflow, in the event of an 'off' it also allows knee/hip armour to move around. I've seen people have accidents where they're unhurt except for the damage caused by the armour pads cutting into them during an accident (not too bad but bad enough for a sane person to want to avoid it).

What I find so interesting is that some of the things you review didn't even exist when I was riding a few years ago. Motorcycle pants??? Motorcycle shoes??? And the advancement in helmets and other items that did exist is just unreal. The Skully helmet is a perfect example. I'm watching your channel, not only for the reviews, but to see what's out there. What? I can buy a pair of shoes that are protective and I can wear them at the office, What??? It's a great time to be riding!!! BTW, another great video Ryan.

Got a few buddies that ride Harley's but one reason I got myself the Vee, besides the off road capabilities, was that I couldn't see myself riding around like a pirate. Lucked into a pair of riding pants from BMW, w an MSRP of over $700, they were on sale for $120. Now that's a steal Arrrrhhh matey....

One important thing for me in a motorcycle trouser is having options on leg length. I'm 5'10" but still find most regular lengths too long and the knee armour sits below my knee.

I'm very happy with my Joe Rocket Alter Ego 13. The zip-off panel provides great ventilation. That said, the only armour is at the knees. But i ride a Cali 1400, so tail bone and hips armour aren't as critical as people with way more aggressive rides.

I found myself watching quite a few of your videos. I did subscribe. Admittedly, I questioned your baby face look but I suppose that's part of the charm. Your production quality is good and you're quite thorough. To reiterate the youngness, puts off a lack of experience but you seem to age well and probably older than you look. 22-23? Wish you luck.

I used to be one of those. Now I'm an old guy who rides a lot mostly when my wife lets me out. Ride a small dual sport or adventure bike at home where summer is long and temps are usually 95 to 100. I went to the US for 4 months and the virus kept me there for 11 months. Don't think I'll be allowed out for a long time. Not a problem as there is endless riding in Argentina. I would like some pants for extreme heat though

My propouse is Touring. I already have the boot and the jacket icon dkr. On the glove I saw you recommended Icon Patrol gloves, as here the temperatures range here is 0-40 celsius do you think I will be able to use here? And on the pants, it is difficult to find, I would like to keep the DKR set but it does not have very good ratings. It is great value for the quality and safety it offers. What do you think of the DKR pants? What could you recommend for pants that are WP and have good safety at an affordable price? Thank you Ryan!

I know this is an old video but for safety sakes people don't keep your keys on your body while riding. They will puncture a lot more than your pants or jacket in the event of a crash! They don't take up much space so find a storage place on your bike.

I guess for people like me who commute on their bikes, I don't want to be changing pants every time to I get to a destination...

Not having hip pads on moto pants is a deal breaker. I def don't want a hip replacement surgery done on me.

It's terrible that almost every piece of motorcycle gear seems to be black or muted. Especially summer/mesh.

  • @ReferenceFidelityComponents

Loose and baggy is a huge No No on a motorbike. It’s silly. Little to no real protection as knee armour will end up anywhere but your knees in an accident. You really haven’t sold it well because it’s the last thing most experienced bikers would use. Motorcycle trousers are the hardest thing to buy. They’re all a compromise between breathability, protection, waterproofing etc. some of the single skin aramid reinforced jeans come close. Sizing is nuts. All manufacturers seem to use their own unique tape measures😂

oliver saverino technically "pant" is the proper word. Just most Americans use the word "pants" now a days . Pant was common even in America back in the day though.

We're planning on it! Pretty tricky to test the gear, as a lot of women's stuff doesn't come in large enough sizes to fit me. But we're also considering getting a female host for ladies' gear videos. Either way, we should have something for you in the future. ~RyanF9

Does anyone sell, an intended to be unseen, tight fitting, Kevlar 'yoga-pant' legging type liner that I can fit under all of my favorite jeans and forego the bulk. (I'm a girl and our choices are ugly and significantly less attractive than the plethora of options for men) 'mesh Long johns' may seem like an odd concept, but I want some. May not be as great as hard knee pads but a little extra thickness protection on hip and knees beats the hell out of regular denim.
