I hate it when parents literally destroy their child's belongings to teach them a lesson and the fact that it's almost always done right in front of the kid is actually kind of fucked up. I mean, is there really no other way to punish and/or discipline them? What is so difficult about simply taking whatever it is away and putting it in a place where they cannot get to it until they learn to behave? Yes, there are a ton of kids out there who are little shitheads but that's not justification for aggressively breaking their things no matter if the parents bought it for them or if the kid bought it themselves. It's totally unnecessary. Just my personal opinion.
I was scared shitless about telling my Dad I cut myself years ago. As much as he was supportive and understanding, but not all parents are. This subject is not to be joked about, especially when his main demographic are in their mid to late teens! They’re impressionable and they take his advice seriously! It’s not satirical, it’s bullshit! Therapy is not an instantaneous solution! I’ve sought out counselling and it hasn’t worked for me. Ugh, Onion is reprehensible! 😡
Know I’m going a bit overboard with the comments but Samaritans is a good helpline to ring if you’re dealing with issues of this nature. I live in the UK but these people will listen and understand, there are probably a lot of helplines in the US who do similar. Along with the hobbies I engage in, when I need to vent I know I have someone to talk to who won’t mock me or mock my pain!
I think my favorite thing about Stevie (both post Stevie and present day Stevie) is, even when he's angry/swearing, he's still incredibly well spoken and articulate. He puts Onion boy in his place better than anyone, he always has.
