That's a very nifty system, and really quick to swap between settings, top job! One thing sticks out as a missed opportunity though, is having the ability to have different buttons activate when crossing the detent deadzone depending on whether you're coming from above or below. Like for example some planes in DCS have separate mappings for "Stop to Idle" and "Idle to Stop", and supporting this behavior could be very useful.
No worries, our VO will submit shortly a recording of him reciting DEEEETENTS 1000 times, otherwise he's not getting paid. We'll post that as an apology :))
Will the 5 position selector be available to use in game when you don't press the grey button? As in, can I bind controls to it without losing the detent swap functionality?
So, a replication of an A320 throttle would be possible. The first detent with lever action for the reversers, the second for CL, the third for FLX/MCT and on 100% TOGA. With the interchangeable detent sets and profiles, it's also extremely simple to switch between an Airbus config for MSFS/XP and a fighter in DCS. That's incredibly easy and flexible at the same time. Can't wait until it is available in the EU store.
I'm also considering this product to play MSFS ! I know it's more for things like DCS but the flexibility to jump between airbus and boeing with just a thumbscrew is amazing. For Airbus I think 2 M-shape detents (CLB, FLEX) and one L or V-shape detent for reverse should do the trick !
this type of on the fly customisability is what wins me over. damn, maybe STECS is all I need! still curious about the reviews of the shape, button feel, and rotation length, before buying.
The flexibility looks very good, especially the swap of detents is genius. EDIT (now I see @jubuttib also wanted this, great I'm not the only one): I'd love to see two events per detent though + few new events. Consider the STOP/IDLE transition which in many planes in DCS requires two different bindings. I'd need event like "leaving the detent up" (and down) which would fire a button press of some short (perhaps customizable) duration. Or is there an alternative how to bind throttle stop/idle commands in a different way directly on the throttle? (I know it does not have to be on the throttle, but why not?) 🙂
Can anyone explain the various detent styles and why you’d choose one style over another? Is it purely a matter of preference/feel, or are some aircraft bindings (in DCS for example) set up so that one is better than another?
For future versions, you guys might want different textures or unique markings for the detent frames for those who are color-blind. That's not me, but some people may be turned off from a purchase due to this. I'm gonna pick one up today.
Dear VKB, thank you for the excellent device. I enjoy it very much. I have a question though: how do I assign negative throttle values to lets say 0-20% ? I want to use this range of the axis for the reverse thrust, and unfortunately didn't find a solution by now. A link or any response will be appreciated. Sincerely
@@VKBSim Thank you. Though I wasn't lucky enough to locate strafe/full throttle in the VKB Config app. Could you help any further. P.S. in User guide I couldn't find "strafe!" as well. Or should it be done in the game settings?
It's even better than I thought !! Just a quick question : is it possible to use the trigger on the grip to "go back" through a L-Shape detent (like enabling reverse) or you just do it by pulling with force ?
Oh my bad ! Since the "phasing in" STECS video, I though this was finger lift (didn't know the name so for me it was the same as a trigger) 🙃 Superb product anyway !
+vkbsim *The ST⩥ECSᵀᴹ detents could be set up for the Sukhoi-33 or -57 Korabeln'yj Perekhvatchik with an L for idle, W for MIL, and V for MAX.* Would be nice if ye provided a "tall W" for catapult stop (the "tall V" is already in production).
You can see the base plates measurements here: forum.vkb-sim.pro/viewtopic.php?f=27&t=7552. Add 2-3 inches at the front for the grips, as they go further at max deflection.
@@VKBSim I've got two blocks with 3 detents and one with 2 detents. Maybe they were in the box of GNX-THQ ? Old order (2021). So there are no 4-detents blocks?
Will the detents and rails be sold separately in case we want even more detent configurations by using additional profiles? How many detents will be packaged with the throttle?
The reddit post for Phase 1 laid out the plans: The Mini models will come with 1 detent frame and 1 of each L- and V-shape detent type (total of 4 detents). The Standard and Max models will come with 5 frames (all the colors), 4 of each L-shape detent type, 5 of each V-shape detent type, and 2 M-shape detents (total of 20 detents). They also mention the following: "All modules, rubber inserts, detents and detent frames will be available separately, too."
Hmmm. I only have a black #1 Free and nothing else in my Detents tab. A little annoying to figure out what's wrong from that point. edit: Putting it on and off again apparently resolved this for whatever reason. :D
That, and just the wrong vowel sound (should be more like the "di" in "ding" rather than the "de" in "dentist" used here). I mean it's not a big deal, of course. =)

Never say never, let it cool down a bit and we'll see if that feature could be implemented.
I'm pretty sure this is doable via the advanced functions of VKBDevCfg
As long as the game doesn't do anything funny when you hold pressed either of those you should be fine mapping buttons to the axis range
@@VKBSim Great to hear this is your attitude, though if I'm honest I never doubted you. =)

You could have up to 3 detents per detent frame.
Where can I find the VKBDevCfg 0.92.86 version in this video? The latest one in the website is the 0.92.79

When using primary colors like this, they don't blend together as strongly as you'd think.

You only need to assign the axis to strafe instead of full throttle, this way you'll have throttle fwd and throttle back on each half of the axis.

They are, check your local store (links in the description).

Yes and no, the mini comes with one frame and one of each detent I think. Standard comes with all of the frames, switches, and more detents
