As a brazilian, I respect a lot Madlib for his knowledge in all these musics, I mean, not even brazillians knows all that stuff... My favorite producer!!
the thing that really sets verysick apart is the fact that many of his videos are not exclusive to certain daws , machines , etc. // he teaches in a way that’s simple enough to pick up no matter what you use , no matter if you’re a beginner or advanced , i’ve watched a lot of producer videos but he undoubtedly is the best as getting the message across.
I would love an episode on JPEGMAFIA cause he literally used ASMR as a basis for one of his beats. His album Veteran just blows my mind. Totally changed my perspective on how hip-hop can sound
I agree with you on that one. not only does peggy use crazy ass sounds to give hip hop a completely different flavor, he also gives nods to more traditional style sampling like in Beta Male Strategies which is one of my favorites by him
This is the second video I watched from you and I decided to subscribe! You're a great teacher, really creative, engaging and knowledgable and I love how you show the detail in everything you do. And your personality is awesome! As a growing producer, I'm glad that I watched this, it was super helpful!
Legend Filt. I enjoyed the whole video and all the points you mentioned (I saw the beat change coming!). Never seen anyone covering these this well. Can’t wait for the next one. Peace!
dope video but madlib does do a ton of chopping and a ton of micro chopping by the sound of it (lots of samples starting and cutting off on snares/off beats as well as uses of tiny fragments of vocal chops)
Wow! Highly innovative here. It just doesn't matter, you can use any kind of sound to make a hit. First thing that comes to my religious mind is the scripture, "Let everything that hath breath praise the Lord. Praise ye the Lord." Ps 150:6 KJV

Dope vid right here. Definitely sounds like Madlib. He's what I call a "blender" producer. Similar to Q-Tip finding insane loops making incredible beats.
Hey J? Couldn't you just go to the site and find a song you like and then just search for that song elsewhere and not worry about downloading it? Or do you need a paid subscription just to get on the site. Just the paying twice might be an issue with paying to find the song and then paying to clear it. Actually with an RCA to 35mm cable you could sample directly from the pc into the mpc. I do prefer using records to get the vynil distortion. But if the website has the sound effect and manipulation features on it makes it worth it thou. That and the sample clearance method. The vocal sound in the beginning makes it sound like Mickey Mouse getting funky. 🤣👍
good points, that's why i like that u can try it for free and if it's something you feel is worth it, go ahead and join but yes you don't need a subscription to dig although the songs won't play all the way thru without joining
Loved the video!! I know this video is on sampling but it wouldve been really nice if youd broken down how madlib does his drums. I always end up really interested by his percussion because it's never out of the mix but always very intricate, you always know when its Madlibs drums. I was wondering if at any point you planned to break down his drums?
one of the chillest and most welcoming dudes Ive seen on youtube dealing with beat making, love these videos man

Facts
Madlib is the GOAT. His contribution to hip hop is beyond what many have even hoped to acheive and never will. He is in my top 5 of all time greats.
salute
Word
Madlib is top 2 and not 2, no one can match his level of sampling. He’s too good
what's so insane is how he flexes that he's not only the best producer but also the best dj every song, incredible
J.Cole & T-Minus got the sample for 'Middle Child' off of Tracklib and got it cleared for $500 and made millions! salute

This was the motivation I needed man. It’s easy to find breakdowns on trap beats but not so much for the underground styles. Much appreciated bro!
