    Koji Totani, may you rest in peace. May you rest in peace too, Kaneto Shiozawa.

    Both Koji Totani and Patric Zimmerman are definitely tied for normal Revolver Ocelot.

    Despite the different voices, the Japanese version feels exactly like the American version we're used to.
    They both seem to have the same atmosphere.

    Wow, never heard Ocelot's voice in Japanese before. I like it! He still sounds like a cocky bastard. XD In a good way.

    Kojima actually said in an interview several characters, Gray Fox especially, were based off of American comic books. He's got a lot of influence from the west.

    Quite interesting to hear the Japanese voices. I have to admit that the Japanese voice of Grey Fox sounds good.

      It's awesome isn't it. I actually played the Japanese version first back when there was a big period between region release dates and one of the disappointing things about the English dub is Grey Fox's voice not being as cool.

    Liquid Snake and Revolver Ocelot are two different characters. Revolver Ocelot lost his right arm, as you can see in this vid, so after Liquid's death at the end of MGS1 he had Liquids arm transplanted to his body. Liquids spirit took over Ocelots body during MGS2, so he had Liquids arm removed again and replaced it with a mechanical arm.

    Only the GamePLay names, not the "credits". But most of the modern Japanese merchandise has english text on it.

  • @johnnysasaki
    @johnnysasaki 16 років тому

    too bad he passed away before he could voice him for a final time in MGS4. Because of that,they used Liquid's voice to replace him,but as a homage,Ocelot's final words in MGS4("you're pretty good")were spoken by his original late voice-actor using a re-used sample line he spoke in MGS1

  • @SiriusLoveGirl
    @SiriusLoveGirl 16 років тому

    Aww, that's sad. But it's cool that they at least got him to say 'You're pretty good'! I didn't know that!

    Okay, to be fair, he was pretty good in MGS4 again.

  • @juustohoyla
    @juustohoyla 15 років тому

    I partly agree, but since the dialogue and the characters are kind of anime-ish, it somewhat feels more cozy in japanese. If you've ever seen anime with original japanese voice actors, I think you'd probably get my point.

  • @juustohoyla
    @juustohoyla 15 років тому

    Yes actually, I do. Don't get me wrong, I was a real anime freak back in the day. But there are certain character types which are very common in most animes.

  • @l901
    @l901 13 років тому

    @DarkWhite1000 そうだ means " that would be so" also 来い is imperative command form which is very rude. do not use. a more polite form would be 来てor 来てください。 the root form is 来る・

  • @filipeflower

    I DON'T doubt that Hideo likes the English voice acting. In fact, Hideo Kojima decided to include the original English voice acting in 'Metal Gear Solid Integral'...but he also added the Japanese subtitles.

  • @HannesHansen
    @HannesHansen  15 років тому +1

    Metal Gear Solid
    The one with english voices is Metal Gear Solid: Integral.

  • @KazuoKiriyama666
    @KazuoKiriyama666 17 років тому

    I enjoy both versions. Japanese. English. Both sides of the voice acting in this game are phenomenal.

  • @toaker

    i have the first print and it also says ocerot it was fixed in the Integral version

  • @juustohoyla
    @juustohoyla 16 років тому +1

    The japanese voice acting is waaaay better than the english version. Whether it sounds cheesy or not.
    This is only my opinion and I don't care to argue if someone disagrees with me.

  • @ShiroKreuz
    @ShiroKreuz 16 років тому

    In that situation it means come.

  • @Omegatron666
    @Omegatron666 13 років тому

    @redagent21 No it doesn't. It means "Come". The Japanese doesn't really have a word for "draw".
    Just because he says "Draw" in the English version, doesn't mean he does the same in every other language as well.

  • @HannesHansen
    @HannesHansen  16 років тому +1

    However, he (Revolver Ocelot.) used nanomachines and psychotherapy on himself, so that he himself would think that he was still posessed by Liquid Snake and thus, becoming Liquid Ocelot. He did this in ordner to fool the Patriot AI.
    And no, I didn't make this up.

    @l901 thanks

  • @CanderousXOrdo
    @CanderousXOrdo 14 років тому

    I think it's safe to mention that Ocelot's japanese voice actor died. That's why when Liquid "takes over" Ocelot's body, you hear Liquid's voice instead of Ocelot which would've made sense.

  • @ronki23
    @ronki23 13 років тому

    @HannesHansen I'm so angry with that- how is it 'he tricked himself' yet in MGS2 he had Liquid's voice,veins on his forehead and double heartbeats. I'm annoyed he discarded his arm (thus Liquid Snake) like trash. Although I like to think the nanomachines came from Liquid's arm and had Liquid's memory and he did it to 'restore balance to his mind'- still would rather they made Ocelot keep it

    It's actually "ii sensu da". Japanese can't hear the last letter 'e', therefore they replace it with the letter 'u' which we westerns can't hear. It's all about language and pronounciation.
    And yes, I know. That was very nitpicky.
