Excellent video, btw! I really appreciate your honest opinion….. You and Jess are really on our side, not fake and no false motive! THANK YOU! Your Honesty is GOLDEN!
He would be stupid not to have used the $5 off $15 coupon they gave him to use! I got a coupon in the mail from Publix last week for $5 off $50, but the only time I spend $50 there at once is if I buy some meat that is on a good sale, which they don't right now.....
Usually....when a New Business/Grocery opens...they have A lot of WOW price staple items...to attract future customers. I think they have already shot themselves in the foot. I won't be making the hour drive ...sorry. Thank you Dano for doing an awesome review!!
Being honest! I waited in line opening day at 6:15am. I did get a gift card for being one of the first 100 customers. Which was very nice of them. I appreciate it. 😊 But I was not impressed with the prices 😮 But the price tags are crazy. The elsewhere prices are ridiculous. It's a nice store. But people are looking for real savings. I wish them luck. But I'm a bargain shopper. Thank you Danno
Also, if you have the app, they regularly give you $5 off $25 coupons And this week, I think everyone got the $5/ $15. And they do a drawing where you can win what you saved.
Here in PA we have stores with those ELSEWHERE prices. Chunky soups at Giant 3.49, the large box of Cheerios 6.19, challenge butter 6.59! For me, I don't like running around to all the stores looking for the deals. If I am out and see a deal, I grab it. But, if I want to do the majority of my shopping in one place, Grocery Outlet works! The prices are consistently lower... for the most part. These are the regular prices, the WOW deals are the sales. That cream cheese is $7.59 at two of my local stores. We also have Weis Markets and they have some good deals, but the everyday prices at Grocery Outlet "average out" lots better, if you can't or don't shop the sales.
There were a few things with good prices. Keeping a price book really seems essential to get the most for our grocery budget. The distilled water was great. Gallon jugs are near 1.50 most places. Great to see what this type store is all about. They should have given coffee to everybody in line. Shouldnt dissapoint customers before they even get in the door.
I will say that when I waited in line since 6:15 a.m., they did come around with packs of little Debbie muffins and bottles of cold water. Then, up by the door, you could go and get free coffee and lemonade. So Danno just got there a little later in the am. The people were very friendly. They partnered with a church , and they helped with water and giving people carts as you entered. 👍
I did see you leaving when I was waiting in line. I tried to get your attention, but I didn't want to mess up your video. I did get the 99 cent tomatoes on the vine and the peaches I also found Nature's Own Butter bread for $1.19. I bought my husband some of that swordfish to try. You are correct about the hit or miss bargains, you really have to look at everything!
I'd love to see this place. Please continue to point out when things are NOT bargains. I have so many people going to Walmart, "Save-A-Lot" and "Dollar General" where they pay more, but have it stuck in their heads that "Kroger is so expensive". On some things, maybe , but the prices are high and the quality low at the other places. Like you know, Kroger sales ROCK.
I am surprised my local kroger can be open or at least the deli and the bakery departments when they cannot get a safe water test. they don't care because as soon as this kroger albertson deal ever goes thru if it does that is one of the stores being sold off to the third party. they do have the bubblers covered and a sign in the bathroom not to drink the water but what are they washing everything with? Heard the other kroger store by me that they rent was sold to a third party for 12 million, not sure what will happen there when the lease comes time to renew.
same goes with Publix, sale prices cheaper than Walmart. I do Aldi as well for other items but if you stock up on the sales you can be like me this week not even going cause no deals worth it.
Check experation dates on their canned and boxed goods. We have 2 in our area and if its really cheap it usually is about to expire. We don''t go often either due to the prices not being that great
Are you sure you're looking at the actual expires date and not the best buy date? Took a friend with me to mine and she told me the cheese I was buying was about to expire but she was reading the best buy date. I was going to freeze it so the best buy date being days away was no issue.
@@laurijohnson7754 I haven't been to Costco in yrs I find them at grocery outlet for $2 but look at the dates or sometimes Aldi's will have their brand which is the same as trader Joe's. But Walmart is gonna be cheaper than Amazon lastly.
I would go back in a few months. I have found that they tend to have random good deals. I’ve found the super expensive bacon on sale for $.28 a package just because it was close to expiration (I put mine in the freezer). The trick is knowing your prices well and Danno does.
Good morning Danno ! We have a grocery outlet bargain in my town and to be honest with you I wasn't impressed with them, they were high and the only thing they had was what they had on sale that day... I will not go back I'm very disappointed in the store... Thanks for the video and you and your beautiful wife have a wonderful day
Hi Dan, GO is ran by an entrepreneur in the area. They are suppose to go by the prices in the area. Yes, it's from CA, but only the name. I used to work for the main distributor in Emeryville, CA ;-)
Hi Danno, we have several in my area of central California. You said it right, "random stuff" is pretty much it, but there are deals. Those kettle chips for 1.99 is a great price. Try the trufffle oil ones. YUM. They also have great wine prices. Karla in Cali.
something I have observed....every store seems to have clearances, sales, markdowns....from time to time...I buy what I need. at a good price.. I go to several store and buy the loss leader...
Good video. None of those near me. I guess I would have to go in person to see the store even though you hit some good items. What is a bargain to me may not be one to another shopper.
GOBM is like a treasure hunt! You never know what you'll find and they carry some pretty cool items. I love shopping at GOBM!! 🛒🛍 Sacramento, California USA 🇺🇸
I have one relatively close by. Very hit or miss. Prices are ok. Nothing to rave about. CHECK EXP DATES. I know food is good after it, but just beware.
Thanks for showing us what are really deals and what aren’t. Challenge butter is really good! It is my favorite. That is also a great price on it too! Thanks for what you do! Tell Jess Hi! 😊
Doesn't seem worth the trip to me. I live in Cincinnati also and see better prices other places. I am suprised you didn't ask where they are getting their other store numbers from.😊
Danno did a great job sogging deep and trying hard to find positive things about grocery outlet. The reality is it was paid full to watch because this place was a complete, total waste of time for groceries. Their delusional regular price myths we're absolutely insane. Save your gas $$
Unfortunately in Washington we do not have Ollie’s and Aldi and other discount stores. If you watch the prices grocery outlet is our only discount store. In our town we do not have the Walmart super store so again not a lot of bargain stores. We have Fred Meyer haagens IGA they closed all the Albertsons so limited bargains. You are lucky you still have your bargain stores. Our two closed during Covid and never returned.
As I just moved to Japan and get to explore supermarkets here as well, I’m super curious about grocery shopping in other countries as well! So cool to see what your supermarkets have to offer 😍
I spent $27 and my receipt said I saved $59. No idea where they get those elsewhere prices! I just picked up some of the discounted things you’d find at stores like Big Lots, and some of the produce that was sale priced and actually a sale price. Overall disappointed though.
So it was driving the voices in my head crazy, so I had to get “patch’s maracuya” translated. It translates to “passion fruit” according to my phone. 😂. The voices are now content until the next thing that they want to drive me crazy with. 🤣🤪🤣
“Patch’s” should have been “parcha”, so I had to re-translate it again for the voices and it was “passion fruit”. Now on to the next issue they are curious about!😂🤪🤣
Thanks for the review. I will still check it out but im betting dates near expiration. Im seeing alot of products you dont normally see in Ohio. Thanks again
good price for canned tuna..if it is in vegetable oil...when i can find it (drain out oil and tuna is already seasoned) i pay $1.59 a can at meijers and krogers. every can of tuna now packed in water and you need to season yourself...and has more darker meat.
I remember in like 2009 seeing Meijer turkey tv dinners at the grocery outlet in California. Here in Michigan we have Daily Deals that are like Grocery Outlet but it is leftover surplus for the most part. We also have Family Fare instead of Kroger on the west side of the state which is like a dumpy Kroger.
The California GO USED to be gold mines. Now, their prices have shot up too high. I still go every so often hoping to find the bargains they tout they have? Sometimes I come out with excellent bargains and other times - not so much!
Lol I am old enough to have shopped at this store when it was called Canned Foods. have not been there in many years but way back it was weird products you usually didn't see at your local grocery store like Rice Krispies with Arabic labels that for some reason did not get to the Middle East. It used to be an adventure to find weird things!
I would have grabbed that Pacifiic Foods red pepper soup. 1:99 is really cheap. Retail at most stores us 5.99. I was always getting it at Costco but ours hasn’t had it for months. Its very expensive
Grocery Outlet used to have quite a lot of deals prior to the Pandemic followed up by inflation. What I believe happened and could be totally wrong is since inventory has gotten so tight since the Pandemic, there are no closeout deals that the company could leverage on as the past. Also, another issue is a lot of these off brands are not the bargains they used to be for the combination of inflation and large privately owned family businesses sold to private equity.
Our grocery outlet is comparable to Walmart. Some items less some more. You have to know your prices. Sometimes they have very cheap things, like I got 5 boxes of Belvita cookies for 1.00!! Great prices for pet foods.
They are popping up all over the place. Gotta check dates. If close to expiration they will reduce by dollars. My store has huge deals on plant based items.
I live within one block of a Grocery Outlet in Tigard Oregon. Its very expensive and experation dates are nearing the experation. Dont go there any more. Safeway sales are way cheaper.
You can sign up to get an email daily about their specials. There are always weird brands I have never heard of before, but most of their items have been good. Some things I only like the name brand - knockoffs just don't taste the same on Wheat Thins and Chex cereal.
Hardly any produce is a good deal at GO. Grape tomatoes are okay. I just bought red onions for 49¢. a lb. Winter squash is sometimes 49¢ a lb. Avocados can be reasonable. Look for expiring dairy, cream cheese, gourmet cheese and cold cuts, jam, and other canned and packaged items. Home goods, like Cascade, can be good deals. The "fresh fish" like tuna steaks and salmon are worth buying. Avoid the frozen fish. Always look at other frozen items. From fruits and veggies are worth buying. Frozen pizzas and appetizers.
I noticed that some can good had started to put the best by date are being put on the top of the cans. Some have best by date’s are showing shorter time. TX550
when you look at dates you need to read what it says in front of the dates too. some dates are when it was canned. threw me off the first time when stocking at the store wondering why the whole pallet of veggies was old stock, here i was reading the wrong date on the cans. wasn't aware they added them to the cans.
You would think this store would have checked the prices at Dollar Tree and a few other stores here in Cincinnati. Then they should have met their prices or went down by 5 cents . Everything is higher priced than our stores. This store isn't worth driving from the western side of town . I haven't bought organic since I found out that farmers fertilizer is horse manure in the water to keep away bug, that is why the food looks perfect. People wonder why there are so many recalls! Thank you for sharing this information about a new store. ❤
I love my Grocery Outlet. Been finding great deals there for years..but you gotta know what is and isnt a deal. It means knowing current ad and store prices.( i work in a grocery store.) Grocery Outlet usually has great deals on coffee, pet food, cheese, fruit and bacon.
I think as far as Grocery Outlet goes, it depends where you are located in the country. I used to live on the West Coast and their produce and some meat (especially chicken) prices were amazing!
We shop at the grocery outet we have them every 10 miles or less . Everytime you go you can get good deals depends what they have where we live we are really blessed we have five differnt types of grocery stores like grocery outlets. we livein Central Pa . We are able to save for retirement (24 months to go )and fill many blessing boxes which are many .surrounding wherer we live.
I don't think we have these in AZ. I will confirm the Challange butter price though. A few weeks ago Albertsons/Safeway was running a coupon for Challange butter, $4.99/limit 2. Regular proce was $7.99. Thanks for the tour Danno! You're my secret weapon in these price wars.
You have such a nice way of stating when an item isn't such a great deal. I'd be like, "OMG, do you see that. What a rip off." 🤒 Also, your talent for remembering what the prices in other stores is a huge advantage! I can't even remember what I had for supper last night. You are very much appreciated. 👍
I love my Grocery Outlet. And yes, you have to know your prices at other places. But I can often grab boxes of cereal for 99 cents, and the onions are often between 99 cents and $1.49. You do have to watch the dates, especially if it's marked down real cheap because it's probably close to date. But I've gotten hot dogs for 50 cents, and 3 pounds of bacon ends for $5, and yogurts for 5 for $1.
I'm sorry it was a disappointing trip, but thank you for making the effort. I went to a "grocery outlet store" about an hour from here (I was visiting a friend, so was there anyway). When we got there and started looking around, we noticed there were signs up that the cost of the items were as marked PLUS 10%! Then our 7% tax on top of that! We left after figuring that some items were twice as much ... or more ... than some other places. The produce looked good, but very little loose items. My friend said that about 2 years later they were advertising a going out of business sale. He went to see about the prices, and the "sale" was removing the 10%. Most of the shelves were empty, and the refrigerated/frozen items were gone. This was probably 6 or 7 years ago.
you're right those fries were not a deal. for $8.58 you can get 8 pounds at sam's which breaks down to something like $1.07 a pound. so for just over $2 more you get 6 pounds more.
Ya know, grocery shopping is stressful for some….if stores had a monthly “party,” with a few hefty loss leaders and different music, lighting, samples etc… people might really go for that. Like at the beginning of the month or on a Friday evening after payday. Dunno. Just an idea. Once a month wouldn’t hurt. They could chop up cakes and things that would go on the “day old” section the next day to entice people lol
Grocery Outlet isn’t really a deal persay, I’d say at least 90% of the items tend to be higher than Aldi/Walmart/ or other stores on their weekly sale ads. Honestly, you’re better off shopping sale ads elsewhere. The savings they announce is full price retail, not the regular store prices. The grocery outlet is just hype. You can find some deals on seasonal or overstock, but it’s not going to feed your whole house.
We have GO in NJ for a year now. It’s run by an incredible family and has amazing deals! Boneless chicken breast is currently $2.09 at mine…but it’s recently been as low as $1.27!! I just used my $5/$15 coupon today!
I used to be able to save 4 times my cost on a fairly often basis. And the price comparisons were more valid. 2 to 3 times savings over what I bought was fairly standard. Certainly at the local Grocery Outlet, we are not getting the same savings, not putting as much in our cart, and not going as often.
Frank from Philadelphia we have about five or six of those grocery outlets in our area what they do they have buyouts so you got to watch out expiration dates there's a few things cheaper but they're all about the same
Three of us went there today ......overall ,we were disappointed ......some good entryway prices ,but i did get 150 feet of heavy duty aluminum foil ......no food 😢
That tomato and red pepper soup was really good! It's pretty sweet for a tomato soup, but didn't have a lot of extra added sugar. I agree, you need to know your prices before you go in.
I've had Grocery Outlet by me for many, many years. You will find that you can't go by the 'elsewhere' pricing. If you like an item at the price they are selling it for, buy it, but 'elsewhere' is false! They have done their false 'elsewhere' pricing forever. I don't shop there very often just because of their deceptive prices.
Hi Danno and Jess, I really enjoy your show, but I live in Southern California. I don’t pay any higher prices than the stores you showcase. Winco and Walmart for pantry items, different stores with meat and produce products on sale each week. I have 5 different stores within a 5 mile radius of my house. All stores are busy, so I’m not the only one 😂
Excellent video, btw! I really appreciate your honest opinion….. You and Jess are really on our side, not fake and no false motive! THANK YOU! Your Honesty is GOLDEN!
It seems like you need to know what's a deal and what's not at this store. Thanks for checking it out!
They never expected our price expert, to show up.
After a while you get a feel for it. GOBM has some fantastic deals!!
Need to know prices at all stores.
I get a lot of amazing deals at our local Grocery Outlet in Calif. - Definitely my favorite store!

Good moning Danno. Thanks for this video. I am not anywhere near one. I'm not that impressed either, so that is ok.
Blessings❤
Our grocery outlet is comparable to Walmart. Some items less some more. You have to know your prices. Sometimes they have very cheap things, like I got 5 boxes of Belvita cookies for 1.00!! Great prices for pet foods.
Oh they've met their match with Danno...!! 😅
Grocery outlet is awesome! You just have to know yourown price points, the produce is not overstock so more regular prices.
Nothing screams 😱 great deal .just so so prices. No impressed.
Maybe an upcoming contender for the franchise war? IDK time will tell. 😂
Great video with your commentary on the "elsewhere" prices.
I love my Grocery Outlet. Been finding great deals there for years..but you gotta know what is and isnt a deal. It means knowing current ad and store prices.( i work in a grocery store.)
Grocery Outlet usually has great deals on coffee, pet food, cheese, fruit and bacon.
Don't have one of those where I live, but it would be a no go with all that hollering about "savings" going on. 😂
Was any of that meat lab grown?
Thank you so much
God bless🙏♥️🙏
I don't think we have these in AZ. I will confirm the Challange butter price though. A few weeks ago Albertsons/Safeway was running a coupon for Challange butter, $4.99/limit 2. Regular proce was $7.99.
Thanks for the tour Danno! You're my secret weapon in these price wars.
Hi Danno and Jess❤❤❤ Did you buy anything?
The vegetables do look good enjoy your weekend Danno and jess cream cheese at my Shaw market it 5.99
you're right those fries were not a deal. for $8.58 you can get 8 pounds at sam's which breaks down to something like $1.07 a pound. so for just over $2 more you get 6 pounds more.
They are opening one of these stores near me. Can't wait. Another bargin hunting place .😊
Idk if it is for every publix but the 16oz containers of strawberries at my local publix are .99.
Danno, Grocery Outlet used to be a great store but they are just as expensive as other Grocery stores.
Used to love shopping there.
Danno, the prices were great compared to food prices here in Hickory, NC.... nothing is cheap here. You are lucky to have such cheap groceries.
Over the PA..."customer just purchased a bottle of ketchup and saved $100"! Woohoo!
Check out the tinned shelf
