You guys (and gal) are like the Orange County Choppers of recumbent trikes. You all make a good team, and I love watching your video's. I can't believe you guys go to such great lengths to provide custom solutions, including machining custom improvements, sandblast and powder coating, etc. You've got a a cool business. Can't wait until I get some free time and can drive down there (from Tooele). Maybe I can get Lewis to autograph my chest with a sharpie marker. You are all youtube stars.
Yeah I love mine absolutely anything I've bought in the last 10 years... this thing is a blast to ride as much fun as they look like they having on these videos here they absolutely are having that much fun!!!
Got one and get one if you can. Our Amish are buying em out...12 sold in a amish bike shop before i check one was left. They also made seats to make 2 seater 's. "Popular "
I like mine.. geared Bfang 750 watt mid drive.. easy forty miles with level one assist 9 kw battery.. (rated 14) not sure I need the four inch tires.. 2.75 would be just fine.. Hate the fenders that I ordered for it from Utah Tikes.. they rub at every bump and you have to move your handle bars back.. I basically had to re design re weld the mounts to be higher and not interfere with the handle bars.
The montage was curiously devoid of Lewis’s lyrical scatting magic. It is for this indiscretion that I am unable to give you six out of five stars. Although Dillon’s mic joke was perfectly timed, the next video absolutely needs Wyatt on a Radio Flyer (with tassels).
Great review. I've been thinking of either adding fat wheels to my Annihilator X90 or going with a dedicated second fat trike. This gives me more to think about.
Yes! This is the one I want! All decked out out too. This needs to be my commute trike. I won't be doing any off road stuff but there are frost heaves along part of the route that I take. (maybe they'll finally reoave it this spring?) does the fender on the back fit the bigger rear wheel upgrade? Also I would like the rear wide wing rack thing you guys have on the site. Like I'll be transporting a medium sized suitcase and a medium cooler to my garage where I pick up my motorcoach bus to drive on long trips.
I use my Fat Trike (ICE brand) also for commute, shopping, visiting Mom and even I go on holiday/ tour with it. A rear fender is necessary, or mud and water droplets are on the back of your head and neck. I extended the fender with an Ass Saver and it works well. So, Robert, buy your Fat Trike and have fun 100 %.
Those wing racks only hold like 20 to 25 lbs. :-( I want the racks but I'm wondering if they can add a brace coming from the frame where the shock mounts. Maybe an extension of the frame tube, then another small tube coming down attaching to the rear inner part of the rack to allow more weight and less torsion on the rack.
I mean I can pack a suitcase worth of clothes in pannier bags I just figured with the wing racks I could just bungee cord what I need to it. Worst case scenario I get a trailer but I would need a strong motor for that.
@@RobertMcClure I want to mount large 52v 14S7P, maybe larger, battery packs on the wings plus some miscellaneous items. The wings have an attachment on the front and about a 1/3 of the way back. That's lots of stress on the rest of it and why it can't handle a lot of weight. With a little modification it could be vastly improved.
I bought one of these used that you guys set up with the 1000 w Bafang mid drive. It's fantastic! Took a long ride this morning up and down hilly terrain, the most fun I've had all winter. I'm so glad I found it and that you guys set it up and upgraded key parts like the idlers and steering bearings. I think I'm gonna want front fenders cause my hands got cold from puddle spray and maybe a larger rear wheel. Will the UT custom extensions accommodate a 27.5 rear wheel?
@@ak1ra1i I just bought a fat tad cxs with a 1000w mid drive bafang, upgraded chain guide and fenders, with a headrest. It takes 6-8 weeks for delivery.
Hey there, I see on your site you list the cxs Ackerman arms for $60. Is this the only part I need other than a shorter tie rod? I just bought a cxs fat tad new in Minnesota and had sealed bearings and upgraded idlers installed. Also I'm a big guy, 275 lbs. I picked the trike up today and it hardly steers. I'm going to realign it tomorrow with me sitting on it. Love the videos. When will you post the video showing how to do the Ackerman arm addition? I will be calling some to order parts Thanks
I’m this close > < to buying another trike. I just ordered the parts to add a mid drive assist to my existing Catrike expedition. maybe I should put the motor on this. Decisions decisions.
I love mine I need to do some upgrades on the front end do you guys have a video on how to grease I believe it's called headset bearings?? Thank you for putting out good videos
Yes and no, it depend on......inflation. With low inflation of 1.0 bar/ 14 psi or less, YES, good suspension. But it comes at a price; higher rolling resistance of the tires. I ride my Fat Trikes mainly on the pavement, I inflate them to 1.5 bar/ 21 psi. So my FT rides almost like a normal tire trike. But my FT bounces like a basketball, so I like suspension. Or I ride the no suspension FT on smooth pavement.

Why no video showing trike being pedaled through even a modest amount of snow?
My wheels are shaking all over the place with that new setup, i might need the original arm also ?

We are working on a new beefed up rack that's even a bit bigger now.
I wonder what will happen if the Fat Tad CXS becomes available in Europe? The price is really nice.
Tough to say. I would think that if brought to Europe the price wouldn't be so good.
cool trike ! I got to call y'all find out what i can do to upgrade my KMX trike!
We actually have a retrofit now that allows you to put the CXS suspension spindles on the front of the KMX.
