Really? I didn't know that!!! So they're two of my favourite bands lately. I'd love to have been in one of those gigs. It was an international tour? I imagine one introduced to the other.
Their cd was accidentally included with an order from amazon. Listened to the cd and was hooked after their opening song Big. Makes me reminisce of my younger days 30 years ago listening to my favorite punk bands in junior high and high school.
My brother in law in the UK first showed Chequeless Reckless about 1 year and a half ago and I was smitten! Since then I've been obsessed and can't get enough of this band. Talk about raw, beautiful and evocative magic. It just takes me back to a place I didn't even know I missed.
Fontaines DC are fucking great. I love Kevin from KEXP as well. He’s such a good interviewer. Actually I love everyone at KEXP because this just ruled so very hard. Thanks all.
Like every great band, they will inevitably draw comparisons with previous greats but still have a fresh sound - I hear The Smiths, The Clash, The Sex Pistols and Joy Division but above all, I hear Fontaines DC!
Look I grew up with Joy Division; the Clash; the Jam; the Smiths; Cure; ... I could go on for a very long time. I have not been this excited about music since the 80s. This band is just gifted and great.
Great interview with these young Irish men in the middle of the video. Putting words on many of the things that preoccupy us on a daily basis. Cutting through the media waffle and getting to the heart of the matter
I first thought about Joy Division but holy damn they're good. The singer looks and sing a way that remind me Ian Curtis. And that's great. Also the bassist looks like Aaron Paul haha KEXP still made me discover great bands, no doubt Fontaines DC is one of them. Thanks guys !
By far best band from Ireland. The energy and passion way of playing are far beyond brilliantness. Lyrics and the sound becomes me every time goose bumps
bravo and thank you kexp! love the heart of this band! raw sound filled with intimacy, warmth, simplicity and nostalgia! the debut album is just amazing
Je suis drogué ...Un groupe avec une âme et un chanteur envoûtant . Ce qui est arrivé de meilleur depuis très longtemps. Rien à jeter. L'album Skinty Fia est juste fantastique ,le meilleur à mon avis.
Great band. I'm surprised no one has thrown in a similarity to BLUR in some of their sound. He sure sounds like Paul Weller (The Jam) when he sings on Dublin City Sky. I heard of these guys long ago, but finally gave them a spin. I'm glad I did and will have them at the top of my playlist going forward.
Just heard a song this band on radio South Winds Blow which sounds great, after checking Fontaines D.C on youtube and listening to a few of their tunes my ears pick up on a great mix of MC5, Damien Dempsey, Shane MacGowan, Billy Bragg, Joy Division, a little Dylan, James Joyce. The music is great, it, it is raw, it is real, they tell great stories, they fully believe in what they are doing, they grab your attention. What more do you need to enjoy great music.
John Peel cannot say how much he'd 've digged this band. So, with no qualifications whatsoever, I'll say it for him. "Philosophy and all that stuff" dealt with.
roy's tune is a beautiful song
For people like me
who are close to 60 years old, this band gives hope for the future
Fontaines is to post punk what IDLES is for punk, great to know they've toured together
Really? I didn't know that!!! So they're two of my favourite bands lately. I'd love to have been in one of those gigs. It was an international tour? I imagine one introduced to the other.
I reckon idles are to shit what Fontaine's are to shoes
@@carnivalsad3639 I don't get anything...
@@Lunaticaceleste idles are the shit on Fontaine's shoes.. divvy music
@@carnivalsad3639 I can't agree with that at all but hey... Everyone has their own taste. I just think one should be nicer when it comes yo criticize.
My favorite new band. Already dying for a second album from them and Shame.
I prefer Shame ....but this band is also good.
a second album eh? have i got news for you
Love Shame, love Fontaines DC... check out Protomartyr and The Districts too for great tunes...
new album is out:)
you should also check out IDLES and sleaford mods
KEXP is just a wonderful gift to the world.
Their cd was accidentally included with an order from amazon. Listened to the cd and was hooked after their opening song Big. Makes me reminisce of my younger days 30 years ago listening to my favorite punk bands in junior high and high school.
Jeff Nelson that’s one hell of a way to find new music. God bless that useless amazon employee haha!
garageflower maybe that employee did it intentionally?
Same thing happened to me, ordered a vinyl and got sent the Dogrel vinyl. Now I can't stop listening.
Feel bad for the fan who ordered the cd
Lmao, one of the best accidents I have ever heard of.
The sound qualitiy on this is outstanding.

Ben Smith Absolutely! I think they made the best album of 2019
Agreed
@@SlinkiestTortoise23 and they keep making Year End lists every time they have a new album. Great lads!
The standard of talent here is amazing. It was the cranberries that really first made sure their local accent was heard.
The la la la in The Lotts gives me cranberries vibes
The Lotts' intro is heaven
The outro is pretty savage too!
just like heaven. close, couple albums earlier.
It really reminds one of the post-punk coming out of Eastern Europe recently.
Lotts....best guitar track ive heard in decades.....

One of the best new bands in years, they are going to be really important.
My brother in law in the UK first showed Chequeless Reckless about 1 year and a half ago and I was smitten! Since then I've been obsessed and can't get enough of this band. Talk about raw, beautiful and evocative magic. It just takes me back to a place I didn't even know I missed.
Charmaine Porter Just know that they’re not from the UK.
I keep coming back to this. I'm besotted.
Fontaines DC are fucking great. I love Kevin from KEXP as well. He’s such a good interviewer. Actually I love everyone at KEXP because this just ruled so very hard. Thanks all.
I'm falling in love with this band and the singer speaks so well. Great stuff.
The guy who hosts this show seems so chilled and cool.. Also Fontaines D.C are excellent!
Like every great band, they will inevitably draw comparisons with previous greats but still have a fresh sound - I hear The Smiths, The Clash, The Sex Pistols and Joy Division but above all, I hear Fontaines DC!

Well said
what a fantastic band
JUST FANTASTIC . LOVE THIS BAND WITH A PASSION .
I wish my band sounded awesome like this....
Feeling the raw energy yet matured in composition
My atual favorite band. Congratulations from Brasil.
Great sound from these lads. Could listen all day long!
Great interview with these young Irish men in the middle of the video. Putting words on many of the things that preoccupy us on a daily basis. Cutting through the media waffle and getting to the heart of the matter
A great sound from these guys, first listened on my headphones out walking and knew instantly i was going to like them a lot.
best new band in recent times!
I first thought about Joy Division but holy damn they're good. The singer looks and sing a way that remind me Ian Curtis. And that's great.
Also the bassist looks like Aaron Paul haha

I wish I found out about this band way sooner. They are new favorite band. 😍 So amazing
These guys hold so much promise. Such great music.
03:10 Love the shirt of the bassist!!! Love this band! Hope to see them live soon!
Lookin through best albums of 2019 n these lads popped up on few sites, they're from Dublin my home town, great!
I saw these incredible musicians live about 2 weeks ago, a truly great band. I’m glad to see how successful they are becoming. Well deserved!
It's been awhile since I've heard a band and thought it would great to get a pint with these dudes. They all seem cool and friendly.
Gotta love Kevin Cole (and Fontaines!) - He seems like a really humble guy.
Awesome Music
great interview - love these guys. best new stuff around. his poetry rocks.
It’s the funny Lotts intro reminds me of the cure and that dude is wearing a cure T-shirt
I thought the same thing!
3rd song also starts just like a Cure song (Sha Sha Sha) - particularly 10:15 Saturday Night by the Cure
Omg t shirt 🤘
But the way he holds mic its like ian curtis
My thought
sha sha sha reminds me of the clash's london calling :) glad to see a new band bringing back my favorite genres
Best band in the world 🍀🍀🍀😘
The guitars on the Lotts songs are incredible.
bravo and thank you kexp!
love the heart of this band! raw sound filled with intimacy, warmth, simplicity and nostalgia!
the debut album is just amazing
such a great fusion between punk and new wave music. gotta love this band!
Amazing. Step outside Ireland lads. This world needs your soundscapes. :)
saw these guys with idles in brooklyn for the first time. listened to dogrel after - really good!
first minute, frontman reminds me of ian curtis. Looks and the way he moves.
Cant believe on kexp again already! Fucken amazing band
FAVE NEW BAND LOVE LOVE LOVE!!! SHA SHA SHA!
"Roy's Tune" reminds me a bit of "Ceremony" and "Dreams Never End" by New Order. I'm really enjoying what I've heard of Fontaines D.C. so far ♥️
I love how he pounds his chest to the lyrics at 31:50
They are just too great 💆🏻♀️
J’adore ces mecs. Pure talent.

I think you'll be happy to know NME agrees with you in March 2022
Wow, I just heard of these guys two days ago playing in a camgirl's stream
Were they frolicking?
@@jtaylor8059 No pretty sure she was stripping
Wow, a Camgirl who listens to good music instead of garbage reggaeton or edm im surprised
If this is true, then that’s fucking amazing 😂
Extra tokens!
What a performance
Shane Macgowan never dies.
I wake up at 4 o'clock this morning to listen to the boys in the better land ✌️
Saw them in Albany, NY on this tour. They were great. Their new single is🔥
They’re just so damn cool
Great band. I'm surprised no one has thrown in a similarity to BLUR in some of their sound. He sure sounds like Paul Weller (The Jam) when he sings on Dublin City Sky.
I heard of these guys long ago, but finally gave them a spin. I'm glad I did and will have them at the top of my playlist going forward.
the way grian chatten moves in performance is incredible and oddly captivating, sort of reminds me of ian curtis

these guys need to get together with Shame and tour
They did
Wasn't aware, I recently discovered Shame as well. Both bands are a real breath of fresh air
First time I heard of Fontaines D.C was when they opened for Shame on their UK tour last year :)
They (FDC) will play Sonic City Festival in Belgium. Curated by SHAME. The Murder Capital will play there too (and many others, probably Idles, too).
Add Parquet Courts, Total Control and IDLES.
that WAs sick !! thanks alot for sharing !
joy joy joy Fontaines DC
Guys, you're awesome! Greetings from Russia! Wait for you at Moscow this summer!

I love how they bond with people. Proud to be Irish.

Reminds me of Trail if The Dead meets Interpol. I love it!
The boys in the better land have got the goods.

These guys are so down to earth, they’re already friends with Kevin
Dan Tenorio who tf is kevin

To me, they sound like a combination of Wedding present and Joy Division and personal talent. They're good.
Great young band, top first album and looking forward to catching him live some time.
