0:34 pro tip: export all of these regions first. to a temporary folder called “chops” inside your project folder. they might come in handy later for some background vocal accents or other creative post production
Hey charles i have two questions. 1) ( most urgent ) How to I record a punch on a new track lane (vocals) then edit it into a separate take on another track lane. No quick swiping. ( so i can here my old take in monitor) 2) why do my audio files (vocals again) sometime some out looking like chunky bit mario blocks and i have to zoom WAY in to see the audio waves?
When you were bouncing the midi, how did it know you wanted to specifically keep the eq but not the analog lab? Because you chose the option to bypass the effects plugin.. I’m confused
Help! I'm editing some breaths out of my vocal tracks, but when I merge everything together with command J, I don't get the usual notification that a new audio file will be created, instead, everything I've cut out just comes back! It's like I'm hitting the undo button (though the tracks do merge into one). This has never happened before, any idea what's going on?
@@isaac8361 this tip from @soundslikenery worked for me: Oh yeah, that is a very annoying bug in Logic. I’m sorry you had to deal with that! Whenever possible, Logic seems to try to “heal” the cuts in the region instead of creating a new audio file. Here’s my suggestion: To force Logic to create a new audio file, don’t select the regions with the pointer tool. Instead, make a marquee selection, and then add just a bit of “dead air” to you marquee selection to the right of the last region. Now when trying to merge, Logic will likely create a new file without the breaths you edited out. Let me know if that worked:)
Hi, Mr. Cleyn, I knew sth. about this, but not everything. Thank you for these valuable tips. 🙏🏻 May I ask a question? What about bypassing the plugins/effects that are part of the sound in Logic? By bypassing the effects the sound would not be the original one again. But you can‘t choose the plugins you want to bypass when bouncing (in place) and those you don’t want to bypass for example. Either all or none of them? Is that right? It’s the part with Analog Lab and FAB-EQ. The EQ is still there although you bypass the plugins? Do I misunderstand sth. here? So, if I use a Logic sound there are some effect plugins which make the sound as it sounds. When you bounce with bypassing the plugins, do these Logic effects still work for the sound?
hey man, I'm pretty sure flatten and merge is doing almost exactly the same as bounce in place. However, it doesn't fuss with your channel strip.. i think it's specifically designed for comps in logic.
nice video, just wondering how do i listen to the track that i have just bounced? I cant seem to play the original track after i bounce it, even if i unmute or press Solo on it.
Hi charles i've learned so much from ur tutorial, easy to be understood, thanks so much for ur hardwork providing logic tutorials for us, really really useful 😄 I have question tho, on the minutes 04:41 there are 2 tracks (track number 17 VOX_Verb & 18 VOX__DLY with yellow bus on it) how do you create that kind of BUS tracks on the main track window? Thanks in advance
I have two songs that transition together, how to do I separate them to make two songs so the transition is smooth and doesn’t stop for a split second and then continues to the next?
I have a question: When I have 3 tracks (MIDI) for a production purpose and I want to bring all these 3 instruments together so I have one Audio File (I usually do Bounce in Place with all 3 tracks) basically, the melody. But Logic doesn't keep my leveling I did on these track each before. How can I solve that?
Thanks for this video. I'm doing the first steps. But for some reasons whenever I get to clic on Join (Command + J) and hit create, it doesn't create the audio like is shown here. Even If I go to the comp track and I click (Compact + Flatten) Even if I use "The glue tool" It just creates and empty clip with no sound. Is that a glitch? Does anybody know how to fix this? Thank you
I always bounce everything and have just one hidden track with all my MIDI data for remix purposes for my label . A good Video as ever . It’s funny but I have most DAW’s and always always go back to Logic ! ❤
Why don't the tutorial guys address how to get your joined clips in a nice 4-bar loop? If there is no audio on the 1st downbeat, how do I fill in that space? In Cubase, you can draw it in. Here it only lets me draw a slab of midi.
Let me have a tinker when I get home from work and I’ll try and remember how to do it. I feel certain I’ve done this before at some point but can remember the process. Watch this space and hopefully I’ll have your answer in a day or two.

Thanks for the vid! After trying to figure out wtf bouncing is for or how to use it, you nailed the questions I’ve had
Clear, well presented, gets straight to the point and very informative. You are THE man I go to when I need to learn anything. First class!!!
thanks so much for the kind words :)
I REALLY APPRECIATE THE WAY YOU TEACH. YOU COVER BASES AND HAVE A GGOD WAY OF NOT MAKING IT CONUYSING

Nice video! You clarified several points for me. It's important to remember that bouncing can print the effects while joining doesn't. Appreciated!
Happy to help and glad you found it useful
very clearly explained ! Thanks !
You have some exceptional videos, Charles! You have been very helpful and have a great method of explanation.
Excellent explanation! Thanks so much!
Great video. Ez to follow, well timed, direct. Thank u
You’re very welcome Primo

Love your videos and emails! Thanks so much!
Thanks Genevieve, I really like what you're doing on your channel as well :)
This helped me so much! That you so much for being a great teacher!
You have a scammer using your name, Almost got me lol
At around 6mins you mention hiding a track (pressing h). How do you ‘unhide’ the track if you need to make changes to it later?
Hey Angela, to unhide you can press "H" again to see the hidden tracks. Go to the track and press "h" on the one you'd like to unhide.

When you Bounce In Place, do all tracks become "audio" with wavelengths? (Great stuff. Thanks!)
Yes, exactly. And you choose if you'd like the plugins to be involved or not.
I always bounce everything and have just one hidden track with all my MIDI data for remix purposes for my label .
A good Video as ever .

Smart Lee just to have them hidden and frozen in the back end
Excellent as always.
Thanks a lot Kieron
Thanks Charles, lot of sensible advice in this video.👍

@@peterbondy thanks man, it looks like as long as the marque tool has a section highlighted it will fill it in.
Ya, Logic, isnt' great for that but you can copy a piece of empty audio from another track and paste it in there and then bounce/join.
Sweet vid 🔥🙌
amazing video. this is excellent help
If the volume of one of my vocal takes is louder than the others, how do I mix that take specifically before flattening and merging?
Hey you can do gain levelling. Increase the gain of the quieter one.
Thank you so much brother always helpful
You're very welcome
Was looking for tips on this and look who popped up haha
Thank you,life saver
This is great!

Great, but stop using pitch control. Do you want history to hear you, or a fake you? Stop pitching things, and learn to sing.
