If this is Bridgeport she is having a much more enjoyable experience than I ever had. My BC wanted to break the record for most days up on the mountain without going down. So we were up ther for like 19 days I think. Of course he took his track down to base camp while we suffocated in snow covered tents. None of my problem now tho. #DD214

Too many studies have been done on this subject to ignore. Putting females in infantry units reduces effectiveness considerably. If you want to let them qualify as snipers - and they pass - that's about the limit you can integrate the genders together. Separate units is another idea that's been tested, but the all female units seldom do as well as the male units (and by "seldom", I mean "never"). Last I checked, 4% of females were physically able to pass basic army infantry requirements, so that number would be even lower for Marines. I'm not saying females should be excluded from all combat tasks, but putting them in infantry is a bad idea, and I hope someone in authority pulls thier head out of thier fourth point of contact on this before lives are lost. And frankly, the female is the most likely to wind up in a casket if it goes down.
Unless the goal is to kill females, in which case, carry on.

@SkoomaThurman speaking as someone whose pulled butts on the range and watched the wm's shoot, I'd say that about 1 in 50 or so are very good shots. The rest barely pass, if they pass at all. There were some celebrated female snipers in ww2, but they were vanishingly rare, and their kill counts never quite matched up with the men. I say let em try, as far as that goes, but don't expect an elite squad of female snipers to appear anytime soon. And snipers have to do other unsavory stuff, like pee and poo in a bag so they can remain in thier position for days at a time. Asking that of a guy is a lot. Asking that of a female is even more.
That's not even taking up the question of weather it's a good idea to put men and women together in survival conditions that reduce people to animals. Reproduction is a survival response.
The whole thing is a questionable idea for many reasons. I wonder at the motive of the guys pushing this. Is it just optics (in which case they can all go f*** themselves), or is there a longer game in play here?

A Marine is a Marine, doesn’t make a difference if you’re male or female. If you meet the requirements, and complete the training. I don’t see an issue with a female Marine, being in an infantry unit, or even Recon. Hell, some of the females would probably do better than their male counterparts . Anyway, a ton of respect goes out to all the Men and Women that serve in the United States Marine Corps. Semper Fi.

steve Howell As a matter of fact, I have served, spent my last year in the Corps, with H&S CO.,3RD RECON BN. 3RD MARINE DIV., OKINAWA, JAPAN. Prior to that, I was with 1st TANK BN., 1ST MARINE DIV. CAMP PENDLETON, CA. Which is who I was deployed with, for Desert Shield, and Desert Storm. I also, have a son who is currently serving in the Corps.

were you a 0300/0311 ? and if the girls were as good as the men in your unit your unit must have been weak as shit. sorry but that is the facts. if women could perform like men then girls would be in the NFL. you are just being pc. in all my years I have only witnessed 2-4 females even being on par with a guy who scores a 250-275 pt test. and I never saw even one who could out perform a male in all areas. sure every once in while a female who ran cross country in college could run a sub 18 3 mile. but that same female could not do 20 chin-ups. and suer as hell could not hump a 75 lb rucksack. hell the Corps even ditched the 9 mile , 120 lb rucksack march in the INF PLATOON LEADERS COURSE Cuase no girls made the cut off time. And they quit having the CET a pass or fail cause no girls passed. so blow that smoke somewhere else.@@adrianholland6787

steve Howell Go back and reread my original comment. I didn’t say every female Marine should be allowed to join an infantry unit. There is no doubt in my mind, that most females could not handle the strenuous requirements. But for the small percentage of females that meet the requirements and can pass the training courses, they shouldn’t be disqualified from a certain unit, due to their gender.
