the clock speeds dont matter so much since they barely go up to their full potential when using them regurarly or even playing games especially in the mid and e cores wich in this case the A55 has 4 of each but the pixel has an extra Cortex X3 P core thats why it beats the A55 in by a huge margin in the single core. I think that google has done some software thing to slow down the phone with opening apps or its just not optimized yet
I think the internal storage is faster on the A55, that is why it opened some apps faster.. not that the cpu was faster. I went from a A52s 5G (Snapdragon 778G) to the Pixel 8A. I like both phones, best would be the internals of Pixel 8A in the A55 body :)
Yes but the G3 is stronger than the 1480, and this processor There are 8 in the 8pro but the A55 competes well even though the 1480 is weak compared to the G3

Why I skipped the A55 was cause the A52s 5G in geekbench 6 does 1000 in single, and 2900 i multicore, against A55 1100 in single, and 3100 in multiscore.. not really a performance jump after 3 generations, but I guess it has todo that Samsung went back to their Exynos cpus after the A52s 5G snapdragon.
My A55 arrived this morning, I upgraded from A52s if you can call it an upgrade, specwise but looks and feel wise... HOLY F! It feels like an Iphone but looks like S24, it honestly feels like it costs way more
I am in the Netherlands and am going to update my phone in 2 weeks. The phone I have picked is the Samsung A55 256GB and I did look at the Pixel 8a but it was more expensive and didn't give me anything great over the Samsung as I am not a gamer and the Samsung looks a lot better. At the time I will buy my phone from my carrier which is Vodafone it will cost me €390 to buy the phone outright. Looking forward to playing with my new phone.
Not a bad choice, the Galaxy A55 has quite the features for the price and also the 256GB has 12GB of ram, so I think it might even perform better than the one I shown here In this video
@@nickackermanchannel In Sweden the 256GB model is still 8GB so not 12GB for all markets it looks like. Also, in Sweden it was the other way around :) I got my Pixel 8A for free with my contract (Free as in no extra monthly charge), while the A55 was $5 extra I think.
Well the pixel 8a is a newer phone, it needs some updates but after that it will probably crush the a55 for sure. Let's not forget that we have basically the same chipset that on the pixel 8 and 8 pro so no doubt that in a couple of updates it will be way smoother and faster.

I have the 8a and really love it so far. I can confirm that it chops up, but it's very subtle, and only when opening, closing, or switching from certain apps.
I'm specifically looking into the 8a because of its shape and size, including the bezels. I don't know, I just like that the phone visibly consists of more pieces of hardware, not just a slab of edge-to-edge screen. I don't like thinking of my phone as a screen, the hand feel matters a great deal more to me. thank you for this video, it's helped a ton

A comparison test between the Samsung A55, Pixel 8A, and Oneplus 12R in any combination would be great to see. I feel like those are main 3 in this price segment in the US.
This video made me think maybe the Exynos is not that bad. Samsung just needs to fix the lag when multitasking and navigating between apps. My 2 year old A53 stutters at the same conditions as the A55 (closing the camera, launching Ram apps), which just proves it's a software optimization issue.

Me personally I’d choose the 8a all day long. Not a fan of the heavy OneUI skin and to me, the animations on everything just looks more smooth on Pixels. Plus you’ll get the updates first on them.

Stop moaning about bezels & nitpicking. Nothing wrong with plastics its more durable depending on the polymer then glass for the back ect. The Samsung exynos & G3 are both based off of a similar desing from Qualcomm they make them to Samsung & googles design needs. Secondly the G3 is not a midrange chip set is the equivalent of the Qualcomm snapdragon 8 gen 2. However the 8a G3 chip is underclocked & from my experience i cant really tell the difference between that & a S24 in terms of how snappy it feels. 7 years of updates on the Pixel 8 series easily makes it a easy choice for me. I have the 4a,7a & hopefully soon the 8a my 4a still handles everything under the sun but i dont game on my phone its not a toy. I think the jittery bits you mentioned is probably the lack of ram that the flagships have or memory speed.
The a55 128gb version has lpddr4 ram and ufs 2.1 storage type, but the 256gb version has lpddr5 and ufs 3.1 storage type. So if you used the 128gb version on the test, the 256 would definitely perform better, especially booting up.
Here in Europe the OnePlus 12R costs twice as much as A55 and and also a lot more than Pixel 8a, so it wouldn't really be a fair comparison. Prices seems to be different in the US though. Even OnePlus Nord 4 which should be a direct competitor to those 2 phones is somehow 150-200€ more expensive than A55.
I've noticed samsung loads apps faster but the pixel is just there with animation every time you open a app we first see the app icon than a fading animation

Unfortunately in Latin America you can not buy Google Pixel, officially. Buying it would mean giving up the warranty and paying an extra cost, it ends up costing more than an Apple or Samsung device that are sold officially.
The difference is indistinguishable. These kind of tests are no longer relevant. In terms of clicking on apps, I don't think they've been relevant in years. More relevant would be testing stuff like rendering speeds for video editing and so on.
I just got A55 but the colors look washed out and the battery is draining pretty fast. My old A52 looks more vibrant. Is it really like this or am I the only one with this problem?
I have the a54 it drains faster when 120 hz is on. When I turn it off the battery lasts more. So you may have 120 hz enabled on your phone. 5G cand drain batteries too
The battery lasts a long time. Display is more natural and less vibrant than before. Even on vivid mode. Looks odd at first but quickly get used to it.
PS Pixel will probably be a little choppy and warm in the first few days as it continues to set up and get accustomed to the user. After a few days to about a week everything should be buttery smooth unlike an 🍎 60hz screen.
With manufacturers giving longer software updates, buying a midrange phone doesn't make sense anymore. It's much better to buy a previous year's flagship at a discount which has much better user experience

Get the S24 (EXYNOS) you can keep it for longer as it has 7 year updates and I think it might be the same as S23 (SD) in performance

With manufacturers giving longer software updates, buying a midrange phone doesn't make sense anymore. It's much better to buy a previous year's flagship at a discount which has much better user experience
