32:51 Fred Rogers was also an ordained minister at his local church, so for a religous figure like him, especially around that time period where being gay was like a death sentence and immediate ousting from society and as secular/taboo to the church, it says alot of his kindness for someone like him to protect a fellow neighbor.
Rogers tried to convince Clemmons with his homosexuality as a secret by marrying a woman to keep him from being fired or unable to get a job, but eventually, he relented and told him that God still loved him and let him lived his life no matter his status. Mr. Rogers is always still teaching even after death, he still spreads random acts of kindness. Even 4chan of all people will absolutely ban *ANYBODY* talking smack shit to Mr. Rogers. No matter what corner of the net, his legacy is that much to be admired.

@Curiouserandcuriouser999Exactly, people really don’t understand just how hostile and different the climate was back then. If they think the USA is a religious cesspit now, it was WAY worse not even 20 years ago. You could not only get fired from your job for being gay, you could even get arrested because it could be considered “public indecency” if someone complained about your appearance or if someone saw you kiss someone of the same gender. There was no mercy and no tolerance.

There’s a story that supposedly says Mr. Rogers car was stolen, and then retuned by the thieves when they realized whose car it was. I don’t know if that story’s true or not, but even if it isn’t, I think that alone speaks to the magnitude of just how beloved and revered he really was.

Putting aside the irony/hypocrisy that this is coming from Bill Cosby for a moment, this is actually a very important message that we need to be reminded of every once in a while.
If people commit significant crimes, yes, they should be punished. But we should never forget that they are still human beings like the rest of us, capable of very bad and very good things, and just because they did something very bad doesn’t mean they can’t do anything good ever again.

Off topic but this is basically my thought when people talk about Gypsy Rose Blanchard and how she could've done something different. What she and her ex did was horrendous and wrong but, with a "mother" like DeeDee, it should not be surprising. You wouldn't be who you are if you had the same childhood as Gypsy.
As for what happened to Fred Rogers, I still remember seeing a skit from "In Living Color" where he was portrayed in a similar vain as Cosby. Did the writers know about Cosby at the time? How did Fred Rogers react to the skit?

Global warming is disrupting the polar vortex, which is ostensibly what is meant to keep the absurd levels of cold of the Poles contained.

@@5Akecheta4 CLEARLY you've forgotten about that whole "Change The Channel" movement years ago...
While it nessicarily didn't do any good in surviving its OWN reputation years afterwards, it STILL managed to prove to me that Doug Walker is a really rotten egg and isn't worth my time and effort.
And even without "Change The Channel", there are several OTHER videos on UA-cam that can prove it. If you want, I could provide you some links, but I think it'd be easier to type "What Happened To Doug Walker's Reputation" in the search bar...The first result you get is two hours long, so if you don't want to waste that much time, the second result is only 13 minutes.
I don't know how you want to use your time, and frankly, I don't care.
