Just bought a 94 RHD because of this video, (RCA here), my 2009 Wrangler was bankrupting me in parts. Cherokee has been a Godsend! Thank you!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
When Jeep updated the Cherokee, in 1982 as a 1983 model, like this one, I was working at a Jeep/American Motors factory dealership. After these demo Jeeps were serviced coming off the trucks, we took them out for a spin. Lighter and smaller bodies, than the models these replaced. Then we had a ride and drive for all the Jeep dealer sales people to see. They sold like crazy. We also sold the Jeep CJ5 and 7, plus the Scrambler. A jeep with a bed. Then the truck came out later. Brings back memories.
That Jeep was the first one I drove then I was hooked I drove my uncle Mike’s Cherokee when I was 17 years old then I purchased a Jeep Grand Cherokee 1998 then traded that one in for a 2006 Grand Cherokee then traded that one for a 2012 Jeep Wrangler unlimited sport then traded that one in for the Jeep Wrangler unlimited sport JLU ! Jeeps are my life!❤️
They do come in two-wheel drive. This one is four-wheel drive though. I would hate to only have rear-wheel drive in the Wisconsin Winters. And thanks a lot man, appreciate it
@@PostalReptiles yeah def your local and what you use it for 4wd is a must. And I did not realize this was not your golden nugget channel. That is the one I watch a lot. We do not have gold in our mountains here but i would love to play around looking some day when i retire. Thank you for your response and have a wonderful day.
@@Denver1976Man which golden channel are you talking about? This is the only UA-cam channel I have that I put stuff on. You must have me confused with somebody else haha I wish I was a gold miner though, I love watching Gold Rush
@@PostalReptiles Dan Hurd is the guy.. I was paying more attention to the jeep i guess..lol guy thing? You will enjoy watching Dan if you like that sort of thing. and u will see why at 1st glance I thought you was him...
If it is, there is a credit union specifically made just for rural carriers to buy vehicles through called USPS FEDERAL CREDIT UNION. I have never used them, but I have some co-workers who bought rhd vehicles and financed through them! It gets set up with good interest rates and small payments that come directly out of your paycheck. Worth looking into at least
It depends on the route. Most rural routes you have to supply your own vehicle that is either right hand drive or that you can drive from the passenger side. And they then pay you a generous mileage pay, which now is 84 cents a mile
I just got a rural mail delivery job and while filling out papers they’re telling me I’m going to have to get some sort of 1000 dollar installation to drive in the passenger seat. I MAYBE would have considered that if they paid for it, but I’m not paying a thousand bucks for them to tear up my 2019 Jeep Cherokee to work 1 day a week while waiting for the main guy to retire.
Yeah you have to have a vehicle you can deliver out of as a rural carrier. There are some vehicles available that you can drive from right side if there isnt a center console. Ford Taurus and older Honda Cr-vs work great. I don't know the office you got hired at, but I know there is a huge RCA shortage nationwide and most offices have their RCAs working 5+ days a week. The job only "guarantees" 1 day a week, but most offices will have you working much more. You can also always learn routes in nearby offices for more hours if needed. They are pumping out rhd delivery vehicles for all rural carriers as we speak. So theres a good chance within the next couple years you might not need your own personal vehicle for the route. It's a good job once you get the hang of it, and having a good vehicle for the route makes the job 10x easier. Good luck.
I have never seen a two-door right hand drive Cherokee. I would imagine they exist in other countries, but I've never seen one or heard of someone having one here. I have seen plenty of two-door right-hand drive wranglers though. I don't know who would want one for their route though unless it was a very small route
Keyword is not jeep, it’s Cherokee!! I have a 2009 RHD Wrangler that is absolute total junk. Bought a 94 Cherokee as a backup, the backup has became the main. 😅

Love rhd jeep
are these privately owned vehicles or does the USPS legally own it and just let you use it
Privately owned. Most rural routes have to provide their own vehicles

My credit isn’t the best in the world, would financing be a problem for getting a Jeep for my route?

Maybe if it was full time, but at 1 day a week that isn’t worth it.

Why is right hand driver seat important for mail carriers?
Mailboxes are on the right side of the road, so you need to be sitting on the right side of your vehicle to be able to reach the mailboxes!
