I am SHOCKED at how expensive some of these courses are. Thank you for presenting alternatives. So many youtubers who discuss UX design don't mention how unnecessary spending $10k + on a course is. You can 100% learn how to design on your own w/o spending a ton of money.
so when you learn on your own, is it easy to get a job? i'm so tempted to spend money on a bootcamp just because im worried about spending all this time learning on my own and not able to get a job to show for my hard work or time
@@yo-sd5ly Certifications MIGHT help you a little bit but overall it's just a matter of luck. I NEVER studied UX, I graduated as a Graphic Designer with just 1 UX course in my entire 5-year degree and I've worked on really cool companies with very nice salaries. Right now I'm a Senior Product Designer and I just started this journey on 2019. Being honest, UX is really easy to learn, it's not that complex and the majority of the work is speculative/using citeria. Yes, you have methods to validate your hypothesis but in the end it's the client trusting these "validation methods".
@@fcallo It's nice to know that it's not difficult to learn. I've heard that creativity to be used in the job is not so much as it sounds, is this true? Thank you. Most people who talk about being self taught never actually say what they did or they did a boot camp which is not the same. I was feeling hopeless and now I have hope.

This is my first video for being a UX designer self taught. I'm so glad to see this as my first video. I have motivated. The phase I love to here over n over again is " No one believes you, I believe in you" Super content broh... Keep up
after 3/4 way finished with my Masters in UX concentration, I can honestly say, i'm able to teach u everything i learned within about 3 weeks or so. It's really nothing that challenging, no complex algorithm to solve, not a ton of theorem to remember, no need to have crazy artistic skills to design a good UI. Just a lot of practice. But I can say the same for like 2/3 of the jobs out there. Having a fancy degree is really just to help you stand out in front of competition, doesn't make u a better ux designer or researchers by any means. But what university does help u is, 1 to keep you disciplined, make sure you develop a good time management skills so you can meet tight deadlines and 2, help you develop self learning skills. So in the future if you want to pick up a skill you don't have to pay 12k for a bootcamp. Those 2 I feel like is more important than any technical skills you've learned in school
You should create a structured programme that would teach all you know in 3 weeks. Then have a road map to act as a guide of how to keep progressing and monetizing the skill. People would pay for this.

I'm deciding on starting my self taught journey, I love challenges, but i feel like a fish out of water, not having any type of structure or guidelines as to what i should do, but i believe in myself. I know it's going to be quite an uphill climb from here, but anything worth doing is worth the effort. i'LL DEFINITELY be taking on the pdf. thankyou
That’s so awesome! And yup! Being self taught can be challenging! But I believe in you Anne! Keep at it and don’t give up 🙌🏼 best of luck
