I have owned a Vstrom for nearly six years and 54,000 ks love it, It is just so damn good and had no thoughts of replacing it. Went to a motorbike museum and saw a red Tiger 1050 belonging to the museums owner (Long story but this guy has won multiple NZ titles racing bikes). Fell in love with it I think I may have found the Strom's replacement. Like the Strom it sounds a great allrounder. Most my trips are long rides 600 - 800 k's on NZ's open roads. Which the Tiger sounds perfect for. I take it your bike has ABS now compulsory here with new bikes.
Yes this is the ABS version, I had a V strom as a winter bike for a while, it was a great bike , just not very exciting ( to me ) . Thanks for watching, I appreciate it.
@@JonnyLeeguitarist Well I bit the bullet and bought a 2009 Triumph Tiger 1050 three days ago. First impressions compared to the Vstrom 650 it 'seems' lighter, it is easier to ride. The windscreen and mirrors on the Vstrom are superior. The engine at low revs is still very smooth and still pulls like crazy by comparison the Vstrom was a bit like a tractor. The handling and brakes unsurprisingly are superior to the Strom. That engine is just glorious, utterly sublime. Seating position is good and at 5' 11" have no problem putting my feet on the deck. I think I am going to love this bike - my niece is begging me to take her for a ride. And the bike looks great, it looks bloody superb with the matching panniers on or off.
Three years late to the party, just picked up a Mint condition 2008 in black with 25k miles on it. Planning to dip my feet into some early retirement touring on it.
My 2022 R7 Anniversary Edition hits the excitement itch for me very well on the road, but I needed something I could tour on and keep the extra miles off the R7... I believe this will be perfect.
Agree with you on the bandit 1250, just sold a gsx1250fa great bike with loads of give it some torque! 😈 It had a crap seat, which I had re-upholsted into a ugly comfey one! Sold it as have no use for it now that I've got a TS1050. Missis prefers it on the back, loads more space on the seat, and now she doesn't fly forward when I shut the throttle off, which I had a habit of doing on the Suzuki with its immense engine braking!😉
That rare thing - a both entertaining AND insightful review. Great work. Lost the sound towards the end. Polite Nigel’s revenge ? As a 2010 SE owner I agree with all the comments.

I have just sold my 1050, as you say it's a tall bike, quiet engine, and wind buffeting really annoying for me. I have gone and bought my third Suzuki Bandit, the 1250, my other two were the 1200 engine. The Bandit is a great bike as you know, this one's a keeper!
I've recently bought an 07 1050. I've put over 2000km on it so far. Comparing it to my 08 XJR1300, I find it a bit top heavy and the lean angle on the side stand seems too steep. Rides nice, especially for long distances. For manoeuvrability in the city, I prefer the XJR. For raw power, either real or perceived, the XJR. For weekends away and touring, the Tiger.
I just picked up an 07 1050 and I'm pretty excited. Traded it for a Bonneville T100 I loved but my knees felt like they were in my chest and my ass was sore after 2hours. So far I love the comfort and the power.
