Blue on blue… love it and glad you did it. Not sure why one wouldn’t put great wheels on a restoration. Thank you!
Some just like to stay as original as they can - it just isn't for me....
Paul that paint job is amazing!!!! So simpler is better.
Not always, but yes - simple has its place!
Awesome restoration on the Mercedes Paul! She looks beautiful
Many thanks!
Beautiful paint!!!
absolutely gorgeous one of the nicest Mercedes they ever made
Nice, clean sporty car, right?!?!
@@pauly7218 they make some nice designs nowadays but like BMW they had some boring arse designs for a long time back in the day
Beautiful restoration!! Looks better than it did when it left the Mattel Factory!!
I think so too!
Beautiful Paint!
Worth the wait! 😃👍
Thanks Chris!
It looks wonderful Paul! :) "Right now" was simply the "right time" for it. :)
Gorgeous paint job!!
Thank you! 😊
nice restoration, details and paint job 👍👍
Glad you like it
Truly outstanding. Great job Paul love that deep blue and the new tires make it Magnificent! Take care Paul as always I look forward to the next video. ✌️
Thanks 👍
Outstanding! As always.
Thanks for the kind words Ray.
Super nice in my favorite color blue, great restoration Paul!!👊👍
Thanks 👍n. BTW, I'm looking forward to the upcoming Police build!!!
@@pauly7218 me too! Gasland, hilarious 3BM story, the "fun time favorites" batman mask, the mouse with blue hands😂 this may be my best one yet!! I hope everyone else is having as much fun as I am!👊👍
I save my old redline wheels and use them in wasteland gaslands apocalypse car and diorama builds.
I have that same casting, it’s been in my redline case for 2-3 years and I still haven’t got to it lol.
Awesome work 👍🏻🔥🤘🏻
Very cool!
For dodgy, old paint, this one looks great Paul.👌 I must admit, I prefer the Matchbox version; it seems to be a more accurate casting but Lesney seldom managed to get a paint finish like that.
Fair enough!
love the end result Paul, cheers 🍻🍺KC Cradle Mountain 🇦🇺🤝🇺🇸😎🙂👊👍
Very nice paul
Thanks Z!
At the end of the videos, it would be nice to have close up before and after of the finished product. Awesome video.👍🏻👍🏻👍🏻
I do add the glamour shots at the end, so to be clear, you are wanting me to add before shots, yes? If so, if I can lock that into my feeble mind, I will try to make that happen....
@@pauly7218 yes indeed. So as to have before and after close up comparison. That would be extra fabulous.👍🏻👍🏻👍🏻
Very nice brother looking good, gotta love the Flitz Calcium Rust Lime remover lol 😆😆
You got that right
Came out killer !........but about your lighting - when you have that head light on it blast's so much light that
you can almost not see the piece your working on, I made sure it was not on my end an was not because
there was a shot over a yellow towel that was perfect and you did not have head light on but the combo of the white paper along with the head light
made the viewing of the object unviewable - been like this for about 2/3 car resto's.......good choice of blue....M
I have been seeing it too, and fighting with the poor camera software to get stuff balanced. As I do multiple videos a week I have to fight the fight in between so sadly, some sub par video is sneaking through. Trust when I say, I am fighting the exposure and focus issues. Keep updating me please!
Nice Restoration, the color looks beautiful. Only the wheels seems to be a little to big for that mercedes 280 sl. They didn't look right .
Udo, I'm an old school hot rodder, and in the 70's, that's how it was, so, I do indeed hear you, but to me, that is candy in my eye!
ah, the SL... when "SL" still meant "Super Lightweight". XD
love the blue, deep and rich, and even an easy resto is still a resto. :)
Thanks for the info! I had no idea what that stood for...
@@pauly7218 neither does Mercedes, as the cars got bigger and heavier with every following generation...
Paul, I have to slightly disagree with you on cutting off above DECENT tires. I have a 52" TV and was 10' away sitting down and I saw the red circles and a decent amount of chrome on at least 3 of the tires. I save mine from restored cars to use on redlines that don't need restoring that has bad wheels. Just like a real car, a wheel change can "make" a redline go from ehhhhh to YESsss ! I've only snapped one bearing of well over 80 cars I've restored. It was an AMX with wobbly bearings that had rusty axles and toning all over the body. Since those had pinched in axles, I did the next best thing and gave it a straight capped axle. In my opinion, it looks better since the wheels sit straight. Also, I have sent wheels to guys that needed some. He sent me a couple recent (then) regular THs.
I do understand the reasoning behind cutting but again, even with the most tite-looking wheels, I've always been able to extract them mostly using the Dremel collet tool and the redline wrench tool going around the circumference very gently.
All great points and I really can't argue against them. Still, for me, I have a zillion old redlines and have never once dug some out for anything, BUT, I have pulled a bearing off, thus my position. Still, it seems you have a great system that works for you so I say more power to you!
Krickey! Another beaut by the best of the best!!
Nice job brother Paul!!
GOLF CLAP!! ")

That is one car that eludes me. Other than paying ridiculous eBay prices...Ive never found a reasonable one.
I "think" the car predates the cap style wheels. To be honest I totally missed that you were talking about that until you mentioned that you were wrong. I was totally on board...lol.
Anyhow the casting looks amazing.
Far be it for me to be judgey ...but are you not enjoying the hobby with the more complicated builds? Honest question. As far as not being a master at this....well sir...you kinda are. Figuring out what works best, finding the methods easiest to do, coming up with work- arounds to achieve the desired results...you dont need a university education to become a professional. I would suggest that you and others who have regular content and a large following are in reality a small group of diecast restores with an expertise most of us do not have. Consider the fact that you actually make gentle suggestion on how to achieve a desired result like a professor at a University might...well, there you have it. You are a professional.
I enjoy all aspects of this hobby, but every now and again, it is nice to keep it simple, de-stress, and just roll through an easy build....
Love it looks very sweet Paul thanks an will be on the lookout for your jell goo Lee
