Funny you NEVER see these empty hand against blade techniques in sparring (full contact gear with hard but blunt knives) cos it doesn't work. And as a silat master said - if you can't do it in sparring - where you don't wanna get cut - it won't work in real life where you REALLY don't want to get cut. Too systemized with fancy bs. Keep it simple and practice, practice, practice.
and if someone attacks you with a knife and you dont have a knife ? rene latosa and bill newman ??? they are not martial artists anymore, now they love money more than the art of fighting !!!
Please tell me how the hell you hit the abdominal aorta from the front? That's just BS it's beside the spine at the back. So you're not gonna hit it, this is one of the reasons why I dislike sayoc They bs to much.
Mark Wright because if you are behind him then he can't tap and there's no point in putting it in a drill. Plus they attack from the chest down which have ribs to stop it. Also once past the ribs you Will need a longer blade then a karambit. So why not show their karambit template?
Did I say from behind?? They who ?? Only from the chest down?? Authentic karambits are much larger. They show videos of them hacking through full grown adult pig carcasses ... they have tougher skin and organs than we do. The principles are the same . once again - a visual reference point rather than the actual target area on the surface or directly under the surface ......When teaching various arts the template is the same when fighting empty hand or with a weapon.
Mark Wright you asked me how I am assuming the opponent is facing you. if he wasn't then you can target the abdominal aorta. If he's facing like they are then you won't hit it. When you go from chest down with any blade. Plus they might use the long karambits but they focus on the tactical focus of blades. So smaller karambits. You even see a vid with Harley saying he uses or you would have a very small one. They are the guy with the knife since they are a feeder base which to me means then attacking an unarmed opponents. Thay uses the cross body parry way to much which always ends in them getting trapped and finished. Yeah the receiver can tap to a different position but they always train for the blade to win. Which screws then for tapping I say when using the cross body parry. Since they only stand there. If they do faster drills with more movements like footwork because you can always get out. Then they don't need tp do the standing drill. Only just to get the rhythm with their training partner. The fast as more you put into drills the faster you will process. Yeah gutted pigs and probably small ones abs guesss what even if they are big metal cuts flesh so easy. So why are they do eager to put their arm out to get cut? If they want to teach angles then they would but they want to be the deadliest fma guys so they go for vital targets. So if you want to hit the target then you have to know where it is.
My Sayoc instructor told me it’s because you open them up so much and attack so forcefully that your hand and blade goes in deep enough to reach the abdominal aorta.
Tom Kier is a destroyer
JMHO on 26 Jan16--listen to what the instructor is saying---makes good sense to me-

You need to explain convincingly and SHOW why. Otherwise, you're just typing.

Why are you assuming the opponent is facing you? Reference point for the trajectory angle of the stab??
