They actually edited out the parts when they were giving their views on the state of the country. Instead they filmed them when they were pissed and mucking about. As to make them look like clueless morons.
none of them look stupid, but c`mon they drink a lot, do drugs and are unemployed, their ideology is anarchy right? no job, no authority, no school, no pointing in doing anything apart from drinking, music, drugs, other pleasures and style...but I`ve never met an unpleasant, or nasty punk, they were kind & polite if ppl were okay with their looks...
I remember seeing this in the 80s. Enjoyed it. In July 1986, I went to Leeds to see the Angelic Upstarts. As the train pulled into Huddersfield, there were loadsa Punks n skinheads over the platform, and they swarmed the train. Me and my mate got talking to some of em, but none we recognised from this programme. I know Camilla, as I often meet her & her boyfriend at gigs in Newcastle. She looks quite normal now. Later on, I worked in Whitby, and stayed at a goth-themed BnB. The landlord was the lead guitarist of the band.
I like Camilla. She has great rapport with the old people she works with. You can see she really cares for them. I hope her life has turned out well for her.
I LOVE these parents!!! My mother was the same way; my mom never condemned the way I dress ("punk," I suppose 🙄) and even encouraged me to express myself through my clothing and hair. The only time she ever drew the line was when I wore a skirt that was too revealing because she was worried about my safety. And what did 19 year old me do? I took the skirt off. Why? Because my mom NEVER asked me to change my clothes so I knew if she was asking, her concern was real. Respect and love your kids, and they will likely respect and live you.
Yeah it is true, school took our all time that we could have a good time instead. I studied at school and then at home. And still ended up doing odd low paid jobs...Some friends ended up going to the uni and ended up same as me. The best learning lessons came from living my life.

In the UK they were definitely the first and did have those flat tops, Especially 'the wreckin' crew ', sometimes still mohawk style. Rockabilly quiffs but 'took a razor to our head'. psychos used tons of hairspray and mixed up all subcultures, that was the point, to have fun, and not be pushed into one genre. At its peak, I had a Quiff that was more than 30cm long, it was a bitch to drive around in a car! LOL @@JimmyHandtrixx
Here in Canada we still have a few punk rockers, very few. I'm 52 now and still love the Clash, the Jam, Pistols, etc..... I'd say the "Grunge" movement produced some great bands and music as well. 😎

It's a shame proper subcultures don't exist anymore. Back in the day it was a lifestyle, now it's just a look. The anxieties & problems talked about by the characters in this film, both back then & at any time, are the same problems & anxieties felt by any teenagers, regardless of what music they might be in to. The best bit was the girl juxtaposed with the ladies in the old people's home which could have been explored more....other than that what's the film actually about?
