If you want to be considered a legit channel, stop with the click bait titles and cover photos.

I think I missed the "almost crash".

Hmm, Ercoupe is 2 place side by side so assuming here a passenger was doing the videoing.
So with full fuel, 2 bodies on board a full fuel and high density altitude on a summer day and yes I would vote for close call.
The first clue he was in trouble was when I noticed I had drank most of a cup coffee in the time it took him to get off the groung let alone clear anything.
Used to fly my 65hp Champ here in Central Idaho's Backcountry..
      I can relate........

Aircraft barely clears the tree line. Low rate of climb, high density altitude, maybe. I’m not familiar with this airport. I’d say it’s almost a crash. Be careful out there.

The people in the comments section have never been there. They don’t know what they don’t know.
I felt the pit in my stomach and hairs on my back watching this video.
Glad you made it. Nice thing about the Ercoupe is you can’t stall or spin it so you’d likely survive the crash.

Good job staying with it. The Ercoupe, like all low powered aircraft, appreciates total energy management. Not much can be done for fuel energy help as the Stromberg carburetor doesn't lean as well for the extra rpm. We can, however, find extra natural energy. Get the nose wheel just off as soon as possible as in the soft field takeoff, get the mains off as soon as possible as in the soft field takeoff, push/pull the yoke dynamically and proactively to level the fuselage in low ground effect (we want all wheels off for friction reduction and a level pitch attitude) for maximum acceleration possible, and pitch up to just over the trees. I assume it was a down drainage egress, critical especially at high DA. I flew the Ercoupe and all the other small Continental engine airplanes in the mountains. It is an underrated but fine airplane.

Thanks! It's been some years since this happened. But I am still grateful for all I learned in the coupe. I still have it but don't get to fly it nearly as often as I would like.

Every takeoff in an Ercoupe is an almost crash

    High density altitude?

Sounds like all these experts have never experienced High, Hot and Heavy or 85hp Ercoupe . You flew your plane all the way and never made things worse by using more elevator. You probably know your plane better than those expert commenters. Hope your still flying'

Every one of my A-65 powered Luscombe take-offs in Idaho is almost an accident. Yep, all 2,000 of 'em.

One of the easiest aircraft to fly ever built, unless you strap a coupe of deer carcasses to the fuselage.

Brake on full throttle yoke all the way back in your lap and go for take off.

Flying in the Mountains in an underpowered aircraft is kind of a DUMB thing to do! The Ercoupe struggles at sea level, who's the Brainiack who thought flying in the mountains would be cool?

I think 'amost crashes' was putting it a bit strong, sure the climbout was a bit shallow (possibly because of the thin mountain air) but no real danger.
