We're back with another milestone video! I love doing these little update videos for Rocket and Bindi, and seeing how much they've grown in such a short time. It's funny looking back and seeing little baby Rocket compared to the big DOG he is now! (But still always a puppy at heart 😉.) Let me know how old your puppy is in the comments below!
The Blue heeler that I'm going to rescue from my friend who is fostering her for me is a female 7 weeks old as of yesterday Friday the 12th, so far so good I just hope she doesn't grow up having way too much energy
We have a blue 9 months. She looks like a dalmatian in color. I have read that if they're missing a tick gene they won't get their color. She's beautiful with brown eyes that look human. She doesn't play fetch much witch is weird, but she loves playing with her 1 yr old chihuahua sister. She goes thru any chew toy like butter.
I’m on my second white blue heeler. I think it’s getting double white ticking gene. It’s not considered desirable in the breed but let’s face it they are gorgeous.
i love rocket's milestone videos!! i can't believe he's ten months 🥺 tobey is also ten months and weighs 21kgs, we call him our fat little boy :) our pups have so much in common - tobey's favourite thing to do is play ball as well, he likes to keep a ball in his mouth while he tries to herd another ball... those chuck it balls are saving me so much money!!
Thanks for watching Emily!! :) Rocket is definitely a chubby boy too! haha. I love hearing about Tobey! The chuck its last sooo much longer than tennis balls.
Sounds about right lol my blue heeler was born October 8th… I feel like he is somewhat smaller the average heeler but his age… could you maybe measure their height at the Withers? (Shoulders)? I don’t think my guy is particularly “small” but he is my 5th heeler now and all my others were adults and bigger when I got them so I’m hoping he’s just young and will grow some more.
I have a 6.5 mo old blue heeler and we've been using Taste of the Wild puppy (buffalo (prairie i think it is called) to start but now she likes the one with fish (pacific one)) - so we will probably continue with that brand when she becomes an adult. My girl is already 42lbs! she's going to be a big girl! Vet estimates 50-55lbs O_o - Lilo loves the chuck it balls too! She still barks a lot at other dogs including in her obedience class, it takes a lot to get her attention on us or other things so she isn't barking... it's been tough to work on that and is also so embarrassing when we are on a walk and another dog is walking by and she is barking like a junk yard dog and the other dog is calmly moving along and the owner is giving me the stink eye... she really just wants to play but she is loud and doesn't realize still that barking at the dogs isn't how you get their attention (she lives with cats and she'll bark at the cats who also don't seem to give her any attention when she does it so i don't know why she keeps doing it) lol. Any advice on the barking?
No he's not broken.....my red girl is the same...i mix it up a bit...i get her to sit 20ft or so and say "go round " and she runs real fast toward and around me then away from me and she knows I'm going to land the ball perfectly in front of her to grab on full acceleration...
have you encountered any difficulties during the teenager stage? tobey knows the command 'leave it' but he's been pushing boundaries lately and i'm slowly losing my mind having to reteach things he already knows
Oh yes, Rocket is a little troublemaker, let me tell you. These past couple of weeks have actually been better, but he DEFINITELY went through a teenager phase of not listening, or hearing and just looking the other way. We just kept fighting through the phase, continuing to give commands, and kinda just letting him know that we know what you're doing and it's not going to fly here. haha. It seems to have passed for the most part! But I feel you, definitely a tricky time. Bindi's starting to be in that phase too.
Her reply is spot hmmmm lol its a heeler...don't give up ..don't get angry...do it a couple of times a day every day...give treats and cuddles for what your heeler already knows then throw in what is new don't give treat if not responding....keep lessons short but at least 2 or 3 times a day every day.....you have to be patient.....good luck.
Before I even watch I can tell it will be a great video can you next video be a milestone vid for bindi please 😀 my healer loves ball to so it isn’t just you😂
Gary is 8.5 months & was great with his commands. He doesn't listen anymore & only knows when I'm not bullshitting & something is dangerous; so stop! "Wait" has become a 50/50 & for where we live, it's imperative he "wait" & not run into the street. "Come" is now "let's go." I accidentally bopped him with my giant murder purse when he was 7 months. I didn't realize it happened & he was fearful & mad at me for 2 weeks. I finally figured it all out & have also burned the purse for him (fire soothes him. It's weird. He's kind of a pyro). Anyway, Gary's a blue heeler JRT mix. I've tested him in so many ways to see which breed he identifies more with & he's all blue heeler. He also has an asshole for an owner. Dude got him & literally 2 days later (at 8 weeks old), went to his "drill weekend" (military). He bounces the puppy all over, wherever he feels like Dropping Gary off. Soooo, since that didn't fly with me since second 1 - the dude has been gone for a month & im with the puppers every second of the day & night. He's got his own car seat in my SUV 😂 I just need to know that even if I'm not with him at some point (puppy Gary); that he's going to know what to do & not do. My biggest fears are for his safety (like god forbid getting his by a car). His alleged legal owner, wouldn't even address the fact that I found gary had Giardia. I'm glad I'm a smother mother - but I need a way to get those commands; or that knowledge to stick with him - ALL THE TIME. Next up for my baby is a big move to a new place far away. I'm at the point where, even when the owner is coming home; I dip out bc being around the guy just pisses me off. I've done everything to make sure Gary has been well fed, trained, sufficiently vaccinated & licensed. I'm like a week away from just trying To find a way for this a hole to lose ownership. I have MS & I walk him THREE times a day/night - my legs are literally breaking: but I'd do it all again & never stop for him. If you or anyone knows how I can drill the safety knowledge into Gary's head in 4 more weeks or less - I need to hear it. I'm legitimately concerned for his future. He is also VERY aggressive on the leash. I used to think it was "because he's a puppy & wants to meet everyone." Perhaps it was until 7.5 months.....now - please just end me. Owner will do nothing for Gary's well-being & overall health. I really need an SOS here on all of the above issues. Yes, I'm overly attached to the puppy & yes, he can be a giant pain in my ass; but of all the dogs I ever had/knew - (labs, huskies, border collies)...He has been the most unique & honestly the BEST dog I've ever met. Gary is a hero to me. If it weren't for him coming into my life when he was 8 weeks old - I believe firmly, that I wouldn't be able to walk anymore at all- or something much much worse. I met him 4 days after I found out "why do my legs hurt so bad." - I never would have made it if it weren't for him. I need him to have the happiest life possible; with such a negligent asshole for an owner.
Do you have any potty training tips, I just picked up my 14 week old blue heeler, her previous owner didn't work much with her on basic obedience and potty, she my puppy Glacier, followed her mom and dad dog outside to potty and I thought she had it down, but is now peeing and pooping in the house, not on the training pads!
Congrats on your blue heeler! :) Some puppies pick up potty training quicker than others. I highly suggest getting a doggy doorbell or bell, and teaching her to ring that whenever you go outside. I'd also only use potty pads by the door as an emergency catch-the-mess type of thing. Dogs learn where to pee because of what they feel under their feet, and you don't want them to learn to pee on pads, then have to re-teach them to pee outdoors. If you catch her going inside, pick her up immediately, put her outside, and praise for going outside. Don't scold inside, just pick up and move your pup to where it's okay to go potty. Also, if your house has carpet, they might be confusing that with the feeling of grass. Sometimes it's easier to train on hard floors than carpet. I hope that helps!
I have a male blue heeler and a female red heeler too and our blue heelers name is Chester and our red heelers name is Miska and our blue heeler is almost 8 months old and he is already 61 Ibs pounds he is like almost bigger than Rocket and our red heeler Miska she is 2 year old red heeler and Miska is much smaller than Chester Miska is around 37 Ibs pounds
Arrow loves fetch.... i throw it until he looks like he's gonna have a heart attack.... If i refuse to throw fetch , he runs to me and throws them at me.... Chucki it's are MONEY!
YES. All the time... which is why when they're playing in the backyard or playing too rough, we'll take off their collars. It's safer that way, especially since our yard is fenced in.
I recommend this dog food for Rocket and Bindi because they can both eat it. This dog food line was created by a vet with years of experience and my heeler loves it. www.chewy.com/dr-pol-high-energy-chicken-recipe-dry/dp/259040. There's also many other flavors of this dog food. My heeler can be a picky eater but not when it comes to this dog food👍

My heeler is 9 months old and she’s 40ish pounds I’d guess but boy does she love ball haha. Love her so much
We really love the exclusive food brand. We use the puppy for daisy and adult food for bo. Honestly good price and both dogs love the food.
Thanks so much for the suggestion!! We'll have to check it out! :)
aww i have one... 8 years old now... looks just like it
