- The Yonex Astrox 100 ZZ badminton racket is the latest top of the range racket from Yonex.
Expect a completely different hitting experience with this racket due to the new head shape, solid core shaft and the latest in carbon-fibre technology. Will this latest racket from Yonex rise to challenge the amazing Voltric 80?

Hey Paul, glad to see a new video from you. Always looking forward to them.
Kevin Ching there are many more to follow!
Great review Paul!
Thank you Paul for this review. It took a while for the 100zz to be available here in the PI and now mine is coming. I am coming from various Astroxes and glad to know that this one though still head heavy tends towards being even balanced in feel and maneuverability. I hope you can review the 2019 LD Force (Crystal Red) as I heard it feels different than the first LDF that you gave very high marks. Thanks!
Great review Paul. Interesting to get your thoughts on this one and surprised that it's your new favourite!
Volant Wear it’s rare that I test a racket and don’t want to put it down
So glad for the solid core shaft. I never liked the hollowness of the Nanometric shafts. Especially on the head heavy rackets since they felt very unstable compared to racket shafts with standard thickness. I can never get the stability of my shots with an Astrox 100 ZZ in a Z Force 2 or Lin Dan Force.
Such a nice review. Makes me feel happy i made a pre order for this racket. But it made me miss my Voltric 80 as well when you mentioned it again-i already heard you refer to it before in your other video. It really was such a great racket and ive used it for 4 yrs, til its frame broke when ive had it strung more than its limit by accident.😄 since they dont sell it here anymore, i have to move on. Thanks Paul for this review.
Nathan S. You are welcome. Playing with this racket will make you forget Voltric 80
Just found your review! The Voltric-80 is my favourite racket of all time too. I’m down to my last one now, so I’m in the market for a new one. Will definitely look at Yonex100zz
Danial Hughes I’m loving mine. Hopefully you will be able to sample the racket
Hi Paul, i really enjoy your review. I need your advice on this: 4u 88d and 4u 100zz, these rackets offer very good smashing power, but which racket is easier to access the power?
Hi Paul, in terms of speed, is the 100zz faster than the Victors, i.e. Auraspeed, bravesword 12 etc? Thanks for all the awesome reviews!
Is it much better in term of the power shot and control than astrox 88D?
1st to comment. Always cant wait to watch your review. I am a fan of yours, Mr Paul
Lee Tuan Ling Edison thank you!
It have been a long time since you praise Yonex racket. This racket must be really good!
Never Buy at Retail Price it certainly is!
I currently owe and use several LD Force rackets in 3U and 4U (doubles) weight. I am thinking of changing my doubles racket first. My question is how does 100zz compare to LD Force? I am mostly the attacking type of player but like to mix things up. Since there most probably won't be chance to test this new racket for considerable period of time in our country I am asking you if it is a big upgrade on LD Force? I like forgiveness, ease of use and plenty of power and feel from LD Force but sometimes lacks a little bit of speed in my opinion.
Hi Paul. Really great to have you reviewed this racket. I too am a fan of Voltric 80 and Astrox 88D. In your opinion, is it better then Astrox 88D?if so, in what aspect?
Azmi Yusof I liked Astrox 88D which plays so well. The feel in this racket through the flex in the shaft is a major leap forward. It may not feel as powerful as 88D as head weight distribution is different but is much faster in all departments. It’s worth testing to understand what the differences are to you
It’s only better if you deem it is better.
Well if you want power over control, 88D, if not, 100ZZ all the way
Great review Paul. Could you please do a review of the latest Astrox 99 PRO? And perhaps do a comparison with the 100ZZ in a separate video. I'm sure there are many others dying to hear your thoughts on this too!
I will be recording a video comparing many of the top Astrox rackets. Also, my review of Astrox 99 pro will be recorded this week
Hi coach paul,
If we compared with ax 100 zx, can u explain me the difference feeling, control, and power with ax 100 zz. I play double as rear court, so i need racket control and easy to generate power, thank u
great review, thank you. A question about the grip sizes - do you not find the G5 grip too small and therefore need to add a grip (and therefore more weight at the handle?). Kind of turning it into a 3u/G4 anyway?
I prefer G5 and would like to test G6. Grip size is personal although from my experience, there is now a tendency to move towards smaller grips
I use the astrox 99 4u. I like the Astrox Series for their Head Heavy feeling just when swinging.
But id like a Note heavier one because the 4 Feels Quite Light.
If Love to Compare a 3u 99 and a 100 3u
How ist the 1004u in comparison to the 994u
I found the differente verwegen the 77 and the 99 just in the litte More heaviness whole swinging...
Can't wait for your review of the 99 pro
Sorry I haven’t recorded one yet. This is due to the difficult supplies of the racket
@@TheBadmintonCoach No worries. Always looking forward to whatever you review either way :D
@@nix4o493 it’s tougher to complete reviews these days as there’s so little stock of product retailers don’t release the rackets
Hi Paul it is very detailed answer and nice review.
In the yonex matrix rackets, astrox zz is top right corner which head heavy and upgrade version of duora z strike you think ?
Rarely to see gold stars review from yonex since Lin Dan Force you had review in the past.
Wilhelm Yip no this is not a Duora upgrade. It’s a completely different shape head and although there different racket.
I agree there haven’t been too many Gold awards. However, that’s also a good thing otherwise you may think I’m too generous with my rating
Hello Coach Paul,
Thank you for the review!
How do you compare the astrox 100 ZZ to victor rackets (JS10, Thruster, BS12)?
If that could help you, the closest thing to the 100zz is the thruster 9900 or the tk-fc from Victor.
@@dj0n1t56 thank you 😊
Hi Paul, thnx for the video. A quick question. I am in a long time search for racket with the same characteristics as the arcsaber 8 DX. Just a month ago the last arc8dx made its way to walhalla. I cant order a 8dx more. Could this be the one? FYI, my history in rackets are titanium 10, armortec 900 power, bravesword LYD and the beloved arcsaber 8 DX.
Kinderbijbel I remember the Arcsaber 8DX. Do not expect theAstrox 100 ZZ to be similar, this is a serious upgrade
Hi is this beter than ZF2 in smashing ? I prefer single playing and like to smash and attack. Which should I buy? I am planning to upgrade my racket. Your suggestions will be very helpful. Thank you
Joma Piku it’s a great racket for smashing. I hit harder with this than ZF2
Hi i need your opinion on getting a new racket. I play both singles and doubles and the racket im using now is the Voltric Zforce LCW version. Im a fairly aggressive player, love smashing etc. Therefore, im thinking of going for either the voltric ld force or the astrox 100zz. Which would you recommend and why? Im open to differing opinions on this matter. Thanks and have a great day!
Ask the question what is missing from your current racket? Until you understand this you are no closer to the answer. A new racket is not a magic wand. So if you are struggling to perform in certain ways, is it the racket or your technique?
nice review, did u also try the 3u? how is it compared to dzs?
Xavier Goh I only had 4U but expect the only difference to be added weight in the handle
Hi coach,
Just wondering how much does a quarter inch difference in grip size make? (ie: G4 to G5) Been using G5 for a while, contemplating for a change to G6.
Lucas lee it’s a lot tougher to find rackets with G6 grip. I would really like to see more with this option. Most of the pro players use G5
Great review, I recently bought a 100zz 4u and I love it. Can you compare 100zz vs Li Ning N7 II, I know you gave a 5 star for N7 II as well.
It’s tough to review against a racket I played with a long time ago. I don’t keep rackets so I only have current demo rackets and my personal rackets
Hi Paul,
I currently use a AX 88S 3UG5, would you say the AX 100ZZ sits between the 88s 3UG5 and 88d 4UG5 when it comes to head weight and defence speed? I found the 88d 4UG5 is a little too head heavy for my liking.
Thanks
D Y it definitely sits between the two in terms of head weight
@@TheBadmintonCoach Thank you so much I will be putting in an order today.
hi paul, is it 3U or 4U for doubles rear court plyer. I love hard smashes
Chathura Karunaratne I found 4U had plenty of power
Can you please rank these rackets in terms of extremely powerful smashes?
1. Voltric Lin Dan Force (2019 Red Edition)
2. Astrox 100 ZZ
3. Voltric Z Force 2
Keep up the good work Paul!
Trairat Korpanitchkul in my opinion, Astrox 100 ZZ is first, z force II next then Lin Dan force
Would you recomend for me between astrox100zz or astrox 99 in 3U .. well i am double player thanks paul you answer will very helpful for my confuse
Fadhil Daniel they are both great rackets but I cannot tell which you prefer. You need to hit with them and make your own decision
99 is generally a singles racket
Hello Paul,
Will there be a written review coming out?
Yes, I hope to get it done in the next few days
Im always waiting for your review video sir 🙏🏼
Glad to see you reviewing racket again
So the frame shape is like vtzf ?
Vincentius Garin no this is a new shape
This head is wider than zf2
Today’s my first day of astrox 100ZZ and i felt My clears are not going good with astrox 100ZZ can you say why it felt like that. And also I would like to mention i strung the racket with BG80 power 27lbs. Or can you give any suggestions which string and tension should i go with for easy effortless clears and powerful smashes for the 4UAstrox 100 ZZ ? Thank you🙏🏻
It could be that this racket just doesn’t suit you. Maybe the tension is too high at the moment and the frame is too stiff.
@@TheBadmintonCoach today's my 4th now i am a bit not much but a bit I'm getting used to it but thank you sir for talk😊
@@d3or0P you are welcome and I am glad you are getting used to it.
Hi Coach, I saw your written review and knew that you strung the ax100zz at 25lbs for review. Would 23lbs be too low for ax100zz and affect the performance of the racket?
Arlo Lo the string and tension are personal to you. There is no reason why a lower tension would dramatically effect the racket
Paul Stewart Advanced Badminton Coach thanks for the reply Coach!
Arlo Lo you are welcome
I've been playing with the original z force with the 2012 limited edition paint job for a while, so I'm wondering if switching to the 100zz can be worth it? I'm mainly a back court doubles player
By the way, great review as usual
DJ 0n1t I’ve been asked this question a lot. Personally, I believe this is a better racket than ZF2 but it really depends on the player and their personal preferences. It’s definitely a good doubles racket
@@TheBadmintonCoach Thank you, as I'm more of a back court attacking player, I think this could be a worthy successor indeed. Performance wise, it reminds me of the thruster f
@@TheBadmintonCoach A year passed by, and I can honestly say that it became my holy grail of badminton rackets. Didn't like the 4U at first, due to me using other head-heavy rackets, but the 3U is perfect fot those playing backcourt doubles and singles. Indeed, the heavier head with that shaft is a killer. However, we need to get one of those before it sells out as in Asia the 2020 model is already sold out
@@dj0n1t56 thanks for the update
How does it feel compared to the Doura Z Strike in terms of smashing Coach ?
Đạt Nguyễn Astrox 100 is a bigger hitter although this really depends on the player. Some hit harder with a lighter frame and cannot generate the same power with head heavy rackets
In terms of head-heaviness, how do you compare 3u 100zz, 4u 99, and 4u zf2?
Ricky Yu tricky as I don’t have the other rackets to compare. I would probably say that Astrox 100 sits in the middle. Both the other rackets, especially ZF2 is top heavy balance wise, so that can distort the perception of weight.
Hi Paul, will you review the victor as 98k ? Best
André Fischer yes I have this racket for review but we went into lockdown so I have to wait before commencing reviews again
That's a lot of accomplishment, wow. How is the 100ZZ compared to Voltric ZF2? On Yonex's racket selector map, 100ZZ and ZF2 are overlapping each other.
Steven Lian completely different feel. Not quite as head heavy as Z Force II but feels so much more. A step up in my opinion
Can you list the top few favourite yonex rackets of yours please, Paul Stewart Advanced Badminton Coach
Kuang Chen carbonex21, Voltric 80, Lin Dan Force, Astrox 88 and both 100’s
Hi Paul can you please review the victor auraspeed 080x?
RedDraws -Art I can only review the rackets I am sent from retailers.
hi paul, is this racket suitable for doubles? thanks
Yes it is suitable for doubles
If you had to choose one between the astrox 100zz and the duora z strike, which one would u choose ?
I already use Astrox 100 ZZ so I already made my choice. BUT that doesn’t mean my choice will be right for you.
@@TheBadmintonCoach Aight, thank you
Can you please elaborate on "very stiff shaft but also very flexy as well" ??
Also VT80 had a rating of 5 stars and many rackets have surpassed that rating over the years. Was this the first time Yonex have surpassed it's own creation finally?
Vincent Chow I changed the star rating system. Yes, I believe Astrox 100 is superior.
i play singles i use headheavy racket like 4u of astrox 99 , as 100zz is litlle less head heavy shall i opt for 3u version of 100zz , i only play singlesss plsss help me
You play with the version you feel will provide everything you want in a game
How does it compare to one of your fave reviewed rackets, the ld force? (I use it and am looking to use a new one) thank you!
P.S. i need more red rackets! Damn Yonex!
Z3R05G very different feel in flex and delivery. I prefer it to LD Force
@@TheBadmintonCoach great news coach! Got the LD Force out of your recommendation and I loved it to bits. It's so amazing that you found something better! Mad props to Yonex as always! Will def get one. Prob is that I have the 3U LDF, think I should get the 3U ZZ? Thanks again coach!
just use red string and grip instead 😂
@@Ahmad_Sya HAHA dammit! It doesnt go well with calmer colors though T.T
Very helpful review. Sir I am huge fan of this channel and specially the racket reviews. Your review alaways help me a lot. Sir, I am confused about choosing a perfect racket for me. I want your recommendation about it from your racket review experience and knowledge. I am a single player and I make smashes and hard shots a lot. And because of that not every time but sometimes when I play consecutive games sometimes It feel pain in my shoulders after games. So I want a perfect High-end reliable Racket for powerful smash shots, backhand, easy to use and control and which will not put pressure a lot in my arm. Suggest one or two from you experience according to my need please..
Love❤ from Portugal🇵🇹
Please read my article on choosing a racket on my website. You will then understand why I can’t select for you
@@TheBadmintonCoach Actually I already went there🙂. I am confused, So I just want a racket which is good quality racket and reliable. Not very hard to control and best for smash and backhand but not too much heavy
Abu Sayed you are not understanding. There is not a best racket for smash or backhand.
Test rackets to find which racket allows you to play these shots best.
@@TheBadmintonCoach okay Thanks:) As you said I will. Do you have any recommendations of any good rackets from your knowledge of reviews and experience which is ideal for single players with medium stiff shafts
Abu Sayed there are so many great rackets. Many singles players prefer head heavy rackets but it’s irrelevant if your preference is even balance or head light
paul, did this racket make your hand fatigue while you using it ?
Not at all. I love using it and I don’t suffer any fatigue
@@TheBadmintonCoach them tendons and muscles have been in use for decades right Paul 💪
I used 88D 3U and it feels very heavy for me. Which one you recommend, Z- strike (Available only in 3U) or 100ZZ with 4U G5. Planning to buy a new racket.
Go for 100zz 4ug5
@@wintoj Thanks
Go for Astrox 100 4U
Ax 100 zz 4U or Nano flare 800 4U
Would this be a good upgrade to a 3U Z Force 2? Really torn between the 100ZZ and the 99. Thanks for the video!
Crashie-Kun 100 and 99 are great rackets. You may find 100 in a different league in respect of feel and playability
Hi Sir, how many stars u gave to both zz and zx? Since u give 5 star and a gold to LD Force haha
Toalson Camblade N 059 is Great
Frans Sugiharto I don’t know the racket as it’s not a brand we have in the UK
One more advance couch, will this extra stiffness make it difficult to handle. I mean pain in the arm
Chathura Karunaratne I doubt it. However you know your body and understand which racket specifications suit you best
Which one is more powerful in smash? 100zz or 88 d pro?
That depends on the player. Some players hit with more power with lighter rackets so there really isn’t a better
Hello coach. Thanks for this review. Ive been reading your reviews for years. How would you compare this new astrox 100 zz to voltric LD Force (the 2016, not the newer 2019)?
He liked the 100zz more, check my comment, good news for me bec i love and use the ld force as well!
Astrox 100 versus Lin Dan Force, both great rackets. The overall feel of Astrox 100 is amazing. and you should find it a simple transition from your exiting racket. I feel the power from Astrox 100 is superior
Paul Stewart Advanced Badminton Coach
Thanks for that advise coach.... now ive been using a lot of 88D 4U. Mind if you can comment/comparing 88D vs 100zz?
@@calbalad the 100zz racket thread at badminton central had a comment saying that the 100zz is a more accurate, more powerful 88s. That basically means it's both the 88s and 88d in one with a little bit lower power than the 88d. Can't wait to get one myself when this lockdown/quarantine is over.
@ Z3R05G you’re right. Ive read that thread too. I find, in my own opinion, 88d is more powerful than ld firce (having same set up bg80 28lbs). I also have 88s same set up. i hope the 100zz is better in terms of power than 88d. My 100zz is delayed for delivery in Singapore due to covid-19 issues. I can’t wait also to find out the feel, the power, the stiffness etc...

Bought this today
I hope you like it as much as me
Hellow I am an offensive player,so should I buy astrox 100 zz ?
Gaming Tube I have no idea which racket will suit you best. This racket may be perfect for you but until you test it, you will not know
Thanks, will 3U be difficult to handle in doubles but provide significant difference in power compared to 4u?
Chathura Karunaratne I doubt it. The weight difference will come from the handle rather than the top of the head.
Thanks
Which is faster racket 88D pro or 100ZZ?
I would say 88D Pro is faster
Hi Coach, is 100zz similar to nf800?
Arlo Lo no they are completely different. NF is head light whereas ZZ is head heavy. Very different feel
Paul Stewart Advanced Badminton Coach thank you
With astrox 88s, which one better coach
The best racket is the one most suited to you. Nobody can tell you which racket that will be, you have to test and feel it yourself
where did you buy it?
It was provided on loan to me by Yonex UK
How can it be stiff with good flex
MuGuGai Dinky because with all rackets you can feel the flex in a racket. The degree of flex is down to the stiffness of the frame. The flex is different on this racket due to the new style shaft
Astrox 100zz or 99pro? I'm a singles player and need more control
100 zz
@@iimiboy thank you

Finally
those who says astrox 100zz can smash harder than zf2 isnt strong enough to handle zf2😂
Joe Tan that’s not true. They are different head weights and some players will find Astrox 100 ZZ easier to swing. Others may find Z Force II easier
