I am from Pittsburgh I grew up in homestead I left in 96 I have a lot of family there sometime I miss home and a few friends I have there but I talk to them and they tell me you are not missing anything they want to move now I live on the west coast and I love it here I was there when the whole gang thing started some people sleep on Pittsburgh you will get your head knock off that's for damn sure .

He's a 90's baby from Pittsburgh. Wopo is from the Hill. He's a young buck from the Hill. That was out here. The young bucks be into gun play heavy in Pittsburgh. But that was the era they were born into unfortunately. a lot of their dads sold crack. Wopo grew up in an era where young boys got rich off selling stampers. So he did what was being done. But Salute to him for doing something positive with his life.

You are talking about Now. When I said dudes was selling dope getting rich I was talking early 2000's to about 2013. I've been around dudes that had it. Maybe you weren't. But that's neither here nor there. They did what was being done. You say they messed up their neighborhoods... Like these babies didn't see their fathers, uncles and older brothers selling crack. If you grow up with little opportunities and you see people making $400 - $10k or better a day selling coke in the 80's , 90's and early 2000's ! What would you do ? Work at Mcdonalds ? My thing is you shouldn't judge people if you don't know what really happened. They shut schools down in the black areas and then they pump dope in. after all the dads either got killed or went to jail. The answer to the drug problem and the violence is education and understanding. The people buying the dope 9 times out of 10 don't live in the inner city ! So how can you blame these kids for doing what was being done ? Blacks were shut out of most unions. They closed South Vo Tech down. So now you have to go to Bidwell or one of those trade schools to learn a trade. all this shit is socially engineered to be this way ! However, What you said is partly accurate. Yes most of the city is gentrified. but a lot of black people own their homes. I live on the South side. I own my house. (No mortgage) I know dudes that were getting real paper hustling. most of them are in Jail, Dead or they found Jesus or Allah and have turned their lives around ! They tore St. Clair down. But the people that lived up there. moved to Mt. Oliver, Knoxville, Arlington, Carrick, Bon Air, The West Side , The North Side, or Out East somewhere Wilkinsburg etc. And The young bucks still fued with the young bucks from Beltzhoover. Alot of black people bought those properties and bought land especially in Beltzhoover. So when you say niggas got pushed out. Are you referring to the hill or all over ? There's still hope in certain areas to buy land or buy homes for the low. Our people need to wake up. That is all !
I grew up in Beltzhoover. I went to Knoxville middle school. I lived what happened. I'm not blaming a few people for making a little money. I'm blaming them for not seeing that "the game" is just a business. I'm blaming them for not seeing the long term effects that their making a little money had on their neighborhoods. If you get rich but your method of doing so ruins an entire area of your people, is that worth it? And yes, I chose to work at McDonalds and KFC while I went through college. I have owned just one pair of Jordan's but now I've got enough stock in Nike to buy what I want... I just don't want much! Big up to you owning your home. Not many homes left in Beltzhoover, but if you have any "disposable income" start buying land over there. "They" have got big plans for that neighborhood in the next 20yrs.
I've been telling people to buy property for years. One of my closest friends is from Knoxville Beltzhoover he was heavy into buying property. until the feds nabbed him because of a rat. But yeah. I have friends that work in the dept of planning they told me about what is currently going on 15 yrs ago. When they closed all the mens shops downtown that we all used to shop at. I knew it was over for us ! I too went to college and I worked. I always kept a job. But there was a time when I had to do what I had to do to help my mother pay the bills. I was born and raised in Braddock. But became a man on the south side. I've been coming to the south side since 1995, But I've lived over there for close to 15 yrs. spending most of my time between Beltzhoover and Arlington. But I've been all over the city ! The city of Pittsburgh is small. everybody knows everybody. pretty much

I am 35 and from Pittsburgh my entire life.There is plenty to do here and we have plenty of people. We actually had one of largest populations in the country up into the early 80s. I don't why people think crime is so bad here . It is actually lower than all the cities near by. Cleveland, Detroit, Baltimore. Pittsburgh is just like any other average sized American city.
