- Hey everybody, I wanted to do a video showcasing the rise and fall of Keri Hilson's music career (circa 2006 - 2011). Keri Hilson was big American R&b/Pop artist who had hits like "Knock You Down", "Pretty Girl Rock", "Turnin Me On", and the "The Way I Are." Keri was also a successful songwriter, who worked with producers Polow Da Don and Timbaland. She penned hits for artists like Beyonce, Ciara, Britney Spears, Mary J. Blige, Usher, R. Kelly, etc. Keri Hilson was on the rise to become on the level of her peers, like Rihanna, Ciara, Alicia Keys, and Beyonce. However Keri's remarkable hit making skills were over shadowed by her fabricated beef with Beyonce and Ciara. Because of the negativity that surrounded the drama, Keri Hilson diminished her presence in the music industry. However Keri is not completely done with music. She is currently working on her album L.I.A.R, which may be available next year.

There is a lot of Beyonce bashing in the comment section, which is unnecessary. Keri got blackballed because people who worked with her cherished their affiliation to Beyonce more, and avoided Keri after she dissed Beyonce. Producer, The Dream, even said that he wouldn't work with Keri out of respect to Beyonce. I wish I made that clear in this video. It takes more than one person to get someone blackballed. Also the Beyhive's influence helped cause her downfall on social media. But there was conflict behind the scenes that caused Keri to step away from the music industry for awhile. Also Keri was very outspoken and didn't play the music politics well. She's super talented though, so I would love to hear more music from her

Like when she was featured on the track by David Guetta-- which she both sang and wrote-- he credited everyone on the song except for her! So people thought it was Nicki Minaj singing the chorus but it wasn't. It wasn't until sometime after the song was released did he finally list her. Then when G-Eazy performed "Me, Myself, and I" at the MTV Awards, he replaced Bebe with Britney Spears and didn't tell her-- she only found out as she was sitting in the audience and they started performing. And she wrote "The Monster" and recorded it as a demo, which Eminem bought but he replaced her parts with Rihanna. However, they kept her demo vocals on the track, which are the yodeling sounds in the chorus. Again, people thought it was Rihanna's vocals but it was actually Bebe uncredited. When she spoke out, Rihanna fans started bashing her.

It's unethical for a singer to take credit for writing a song they didn't write. You're robbing the writer from reaping the benefits of their creativity and hard work. Keri Hilson was in the right to speak out on her experience. Beyonce was in the wrong to continue taking credit for writing and misusing her clout to bully writers into sharing credit with her. She got that sense of entitlement from her father. Songwriters should stick together and they should have had Keri's back. The production/writing team makes the artist more than the artist makes the team.
