Nothing spectacular but since a few of you have asked, why not share it, right...? 🤷🏻♂️😎🔥
can you give the text you use
@JorisHermans do you film shorts separately or do you get them from your main videos
As a YT rookie, I started without teleprompter. Or any scripts. I just thought to myself I'm gonna improvise as I do when talking to people. But boy was I wrong. It would take me an hour or more to record 10 minutes of usable footage. So a couple of months ago, I got myself a teleprompter, and got into habit of writing scripts. Probably the best investment into my channel ever. A 10-minut video now has like 20 minutes of footage, so I also lose way less time in editing. Not going back anytime soon, although I do have to work on my presentation. Which will come with time and practice. Thanks Joris, you're a big inspiration and source of knowledge!
Which type of camera do you use that works well with a teleprompter?
@@VioletEmerald it's not about the camera as much as it is about the lens. If they are too wide and the teleprompter is too small, you'll see prompter's edges in frame. I'm using a Sony A7 IV with a 20mm 1.8 G lens and it works perfectly with Desview T3 teleprompter.
I really appreciate that this video isn’t 18 minutes long :)
Thanks for sharing your approach! It's enlightening to see how others structure their process. I've been on the hunt for "the right way" for my own work. Currently, I use a table in my writing program with three columns: the exact script, the visual elements like effects and memes, and the audio cues. Always evolving and learning!
Highlighting the parts of text where there will be BRoll is genius. That would probably work for me
Thanks for the video
I’ve always been a creative writer, but since I’ve been toying around with video, I’ve struggled so hard in the storytelling aspect. My creativity and personality just hasn’t been able to come through.
I stumbled onto a video about scripting which led me to another, which led to more which got me here.
This video spoke to me. Thanks for providing a great kickstart!
Cheers!
I love this. I just started doing something like this a few weeks ago, and I also write down all the specific b roll shots I will need. As always, great video! Love it. ❤
This is exactly how I do it, but I still need to practice how to be a bit more comfortable and “free” on camera. Thanks for the video!
What a Timing! I was working on the script for my next video and then got notification about this! The keyword tip , Really Helpful
Wonderful technique Joris! I make my videos exactly as you do, I use keywords on the script and then create the concept directly in recording!
Thanks for this. That makes perfect sense. A bit of white, a bit of yellow. And, of course, it reminds you to put in the plenty of b-roll to keep the viewer engaged.
I love it when you do weird things. Feels more connected.
You have no Idea how much you've helped me. It might seem simple to you but this doesn't come naturally to me. I always spoke the script word for word and you can see me looking at the teleprompter and there are tons of jump cuts 😅
Bless your heart!!! ☀
Discovering that this is how others do it, is a great relief.
I always had a voice in my mind judging me for recording after I just read my script. I used to believe all other creators were flawlessly talking improvising, without a script.
So thank you!☀
If I would improvise all the time I would literally NEVER get to the point 😅
@@JorisHermans yes 🥹 it’s a great relief. thank you for sharing !
Same
Long awaited scripting method. Love your transparency bruh. ❤
Thank you so much. I try to do UA-cam in the past with criminal case and always thought how people relate and can retain so much information without making mistakes.
This was fantastic! I've been so frustrated with my stupid scripts and trying to be real, but reading a script has been killing that idea because it's hard to trust people when they're obviously reading something. It's a bizarre phenomenon.
Great advice - thanks as always, Joris 🙏🤘
Thank you for sharing. It is an inspiration for non-native speakers.
Loved this video man! Thank you.
This was SO helpful!! Thank you!! 😊
Thanks for this! Short and to the point.
Amazing advice! It's definitely help on my scripts for my travel vlog in my channel 🙏
That is exactly what I needed! I'm also a non-native English speaker and I find it difficult to speak spontaneously the whole script. It's hard, but manageable.
I love your b-roll garage shots. 👍
thank you so much. this was very helpful
🎉 - building concepts and bullet points with Keywords first..... fantastic. And not skipping broll.
Great video bro - subbed 🎉
love this content!!
I just like your character man! Dope guy!
Thank you. Its Helpful
Thanks for this!
Brilliant thanks!
I use same method, thanks for the idea with yellow parts! How often do you usually repeat a part before you are satisfied?
Thanks. Good food for thought :)
Was looking for scriptwriting and I stumbled upon this video but hey... I just LOVE your lastname 😇
Hi Joris, I have a question. How to set up a yoga studio for streaming or recording lessons? Thank you
Good video. Thanks.
THANK YOU!!!
Ahh, short segments! That is where I'm going wrong in talking-head- trying to do really long takes. Yeah, why try long takes when I end up cutting due to all the mistakes anyway?! I like the tip on yellow highlighting the B-roll but I don't have my B-roll script within the A-roll script, just this symbol- [B-roll] -to let me know I expect to add some B-roll there. That is because I haven't nailed down yet what B-roll I will actually be able to find at my 3rd-party resources. Also, I have a never-used teleprompter still in the box because it just seems like too much hassle and effort. IMHO, you do things really right, and I don't. So I appreciate this particular video you have shared and will be giving it a lot of thought as I Hermans-ize my process. Thank you.
This was really helpful, i find it hard to memorise so i usually just bullet point, although i am working on a better way to stop going on tangents lol
I am doing that in a similar way. Mostly technical so i have a lot of notes.
Nice!!
That's a cool approach and way less stressful. I may adapt that into something for me. Thanks!
Let me know if you end up using it. I'll send you an invoice. 🙃
@@JorisHermans I'll make sure to give you thanks and Kudos. 😉🤣
100 thanks and 30 kudos! 🙏🏻🔥😅
DUDE!!! This is brilliant!
Glad you liked it, Jeffrey. I almost didn't upload it because I thought no one would find it useful. But I was wrong 😅🙏🏻
@@JorisHermans i liked it!
informative video
I do something similar for presentations. You have only the key information available. What’s the take home message, so what, and then add meat to the bones. Then practice until it’s fluent.
Great! Can you tell the power of the light :) ?
Genius
how do you do thubmnails? is there a free versoin of it or replacement
I have to admit I do the scripts but I feel very scripted when I use them, I try to remember pieces but also get tongue-tied, I think I will give your tips a try sounds like it works better.👍
how do i read the script without seeming like im reading it on film
Make 50 videos first.
👍👍
I went from fully scripted, right to totally unscripted, then back to fully scripted.. I think I might switch to "talking points" style notes instead
this was exactly the permission i needed to not write exact scripts. thank you.
This has me motivated to try talking to camera 🫡
