Can you imagine being born, barely able to walk, can't see, only thing you know is to eat, yet you're able to contemplate murder and a takeover of the whole nest? It's survival of the fittest but that's a bit diabolical.
It's no like he is conscious or any sort when he do it, I read that it's just some part of his back when it's touched it makes him do it instinctively, but actually it's just linger for some days after he is born. It goes away after that and he wont try to kill any of the other birds anymore. It's just something that worked more for him to grow and survive, but nature is for the fittest sure.
It's not contemplating anything... It's how their instincts work. It's for their best survival, so the ones that have pressure on their back that push back have a higher chance at survival (more food, less competition) would be the ones who do better. They're not trying to eradicate the host birds completely because if they did, they'd have no nests to lay in...
This is an innate reflex action by the baby cuckoo. They did a study where they placed a small stone in the nest of a baby cuckoo and it reacted in the same manner as if the stone was another nestling. That's nature for you.
There was a Cookoo bird who lays its egg in the other bird nest at our farm whic has already 4 egg ,, my dad discovered it and tell me so i just took out that Cookoo bird egg boiled and ate it,,, 2 days later the Cookoo came and lays one egg again lmao I don't know if it was the same one who put her egg earlier.. this time im having other idea to take away the Cookoo baby once its hatched and feed it to our cat
This is what I don't understand about evolution Millions of years of evolution and yet not one single mama bird species has the ability to identify if a chick is not of her own? While the cuckoo bird has evolved to give the babies an instinct to kick out other chicks / eggs? Very odd.
Some birds by nature are able to identify cuckoos chicks as foreign but still keep them in their nest, but refuse to feed them. Some other birds are able to distinguish cuckoos through trial and error if they have the brain power to do so, which is why cuckoo generally target smaller bird species that can’t get around the simple notion of: If not friend, why friend-shaped?”
It's my understanding that some birds do recognize the cuckoo chick as an invader but feed it anyway since the mother cuckoo is watching and if the chick dies she flies over and trashes the whole nest. That's what I've heard anyway.
Maybe this is because the cuckoo is similiar to a parasite: While not all the nests of its hosts are affected by the cuckoo, this is rather "unimportant" to the other birds in the big picture. But for the cuckoo it has become one of its most important features. So evolution mostly disregards the other birds defence, while it shaped the cuckoo's deception into a fine art.
Despite of the size , the baby bird did a great job flipping the cuckoo baby off the nest. What a fight. No sympathy for the cuckoo baby who always got the free ride .
Oops you’re confused right there, the cookoo bird its the small one even if it looks like the bigger one is and look at the title it says that the cookoo bird took the other bird out
Hating an animal for doing what nature has wired them to do for hundreds of millions of years is kiiiinda weird. But then again, I guess hatred is wired into humans, so, carry on.
Yes, it was rather strange. Usually, they are the first to hatch, and are born bigger in size. This one looks newly hatched, the other one more than a week old. I hope it wasn't staged.
They likely did not as with recording the wildlife or taking photos usually it is opted to let nature take corse.. granted though if the person doesn't follow that rule it is also good. Either way, the mom will know something happened in the nest which hopefully doesn't chase her away.
Europe had no choice but to start the Crusades, they were being attacked, many Europeans were kidnapped, raped, etc. There is a new invasion sort of like a virus, where they are coming in and winning just by having more babies and slowly taking over without having to fire a single shot. Although as there are the terrorist attacks and as they increase their percentage of the population make additional demands, like Halal food, they get into politics, etc.
Only species of cuckoo which egg dump in any nest they can are the ones who eliminate the competition. species of cuckoos that are specialized to one parasitize one species have babies which simply try to out compete their nest mates and often the nest mates survive alongside the cuckoo chick. In North America, there are no parasitic cuckoos, that niche belongs to the cowbirds and NA cuckoos build nests and raise their young.
Can’t watch this. The poor baby bird that was pushed by cuckoo bird didn’t know what happened and still asking to be fed 😮. Want to know what happened later.
Yep, that's actually how cuckoos take over the neighborhood, since they can't fight bigger birds for territory, they lay eggs in the nests of the competition, and let the babies do the killing. Pretty sick, but very effective😢
Yo lo que quiero sabes es como sovrevivio hasta ahora por qué ese pajarito ya le esta saliendo las plumas, no sera que le pusieron ahora? Para los videoz
So from what I'm gathering with the comments the mother cuckoo actually hangs around and watches to ensure the other mother bird feeds her kid or she trashes the nest. I'm wondering if the other mother bird has ever attacked the cuckoo mum (either killing her or enough to get her to fuck off) and then killed her baby?
Other bird literally said "If I go down, I'm taking you with me!"
Can you imagine being born, barely able to walk, can't see, only thing you know is to eat, yet you're able to contemplate murder and a takeover of the whole nest? It's survival of the fittest but that's a bit diabolical.
I was thinking very similar!! HOW does it know???!!!
A volte la natura sembra crudele, ma sono certo che un motivo ci deve essere se il cuculo fa questo.
It's no like he is conscious or any sort when he do it, I read that it's just some part of his back when it's touched it makes him do it instinctively, but actually it's just linger for some days after he is born. It goes away after that and he wont try to kill any of the other birds anymore.

I swear, the Cuckoo is one of those birds that I just look at nature and go..."Okay...why?"
Diabolos est Deus Inversus

Basically it was wired to do it but did it the wrong way and got basically darwin awarded.
Yes, I saw another video where the cuckoo was given some big chew balls. He tried his best and eventually got exhausted, but couldn't drop them.
the Bird said if I'm going down you're coming with me
To quote andross "If I go down I'm taking you with me!!!"

good job well done💯
I've heard a few anecdotes and saw one video of the mother cuckoo destroying the nest if its egg or hatchling is rejected.

Poetic Justice. Nature is Ruthless!
Welp, I think mama bird's going to be understandably upset about this.

There's a breed of ant that enslaves other ants. That's super specific lol
@sidjay What "evolution" ??? Just plain Original / innate sin.
When getting rid of the competition goes wrong.
I hate cookoo birds. Poor big fella lost his life but took the crappy cookoo with him.
Saved future bird chicks by preventing that cookoo from reproducing, in which case its offsprings would threaten other nests.
Despite of the size , the baby bird did a great job flipping the cuckoo baby off the nest. What a fight. No sympathy for the cuckoo baby who always got the free ride .
Oops you’re confused right there, the cookoo bird its the small one even if it looks like the bigger one is and look at the title it says that the cookoo bird took the other bird out
My man smaller one is the cuckoo bird 😬
I now see why people say that cookoo birds are the devil 😮
Wow that little bird fought for his life 😢
My literal mind:
Baby cuckoo has slain baby bird
Baby cuckoo falls down into the void.
😂 evil itself.
Where all my cuckoo haters at?

I do not feel sorry for the Cuckoo baby.
100%
Why? it's just a baby, doing only what hundreds of millions of years of instinct tell it to do.
I don't know if I've ever seen such a size disparity between cuckoo and the bird it was able to flip over or out of the nest.
Yes, it was rather strange. Usually, they are the first to hatch, and are born bigger in size. This one looks newly hatched, the other one more than a week old. I hope it wasn't staged.
Epic video lol with that ending! But it looks like quite a fall to the ground sadly. Did either bird survive?
Когда этот монстр тоже выпал из гнезда, он пошёл и вытолкал из дома автора этого ролика. Теперь он живёт в доме, а автор в гнезде.
This is called, if I am going down , you are coming with me too baby.

NOT bad Ending......
Little bird pushing: " Im so sick of you hogging up all the food you massive over grown turkey! " 😂
Отлично что кукушонок сам выпал тоже 😂
Seeing this reminds me of the human nature and the people who have been doing the same thing!!!!!
Survival of the fittest ! It didn't want to share the food ....karma got ot
Hoist by its own petard.
Looks like the younger one just boxed it right out of the nest
I hope the photographer put back the rightful chick!

Everyone seems to think the larger bird was the evil cuckoo spawn. Please look again at which one is doing the pushing.
When I first saw the act of cuckoo baby in other video, I was stunned!
Same situation in the UK happening with the locals.

Какая радость!Кукушка и себя выкинула из гнезда
They’re called cuckoo birds for a reason. Little crazies.
The other chick was like if I go down I'll take everyone down with me
If cuckoo's needs life insurance, their babies insurance premiums must be super expensive 😮😮😮
Justice served.
You jump, I jump.
I wonder why Cookoo’s baby has to push other babies away? Are there any birds they can coexist?
Spotted Cuckoo and Carrion crows (the one in the video is a common Cuckoo) can a do co exist.
Only species of cuckoo which egg dump in any nest they can are the ones who eliminate the competition. species of cuckoos that are specialized to one parasitize one species have babies which simply try to out compete their nest mates and often the nest mates survive alongside the cuckoo chick.

Amazing the little bastards evolved to push out the other babies without even putting any thought into it. It's all instinctual.
There is One in every family,…😢
Yes, but the cuckoo is the "adopted" one, not even related!

So WWE Royal Rumble got inspired by this and the winner goes to baby cuckoo as the new WWE champion! 🏆

For those who don't know. The baby bird is not making a sound. This video is being narrated by Sweep from the Sooty show.

Cuckoo's baby always free ride...
A lot of comments demonizing the cuckoo chick when its perfectly normal for sibling chicks to rip smaller ones part. Its not evil, just nature.
Why cuckoo's baby is so badly? Why God created that bad bird?
