This mod looks fantastic. However... is it really worth the hassle of installing Halo 2 Vista on my computer in order to play it, especially with the MCC coming to PC later this year? A part of me says 'YES' but another part of me is cautious and wary. Plus, given H2 Vista's limited number of installs, I'm not sure if I have enough left. And even if I do... would this still be worth it? Also, does this mod only affect the game on Legendary, or does it affect all difficulty levels? Can anyone who's installed this mod give me some answers when they have the chance?
Never mind. I went through the hassle and it is FANTASTIC! Well worth the trouble of installing Halo 2 Vista. And it turns out that it DOES affect all difficulty levels. Tragically, I now realize that the shotgun will play the same in the hands of the Flood as it does in my own hands. I won't cry. I made a campaign mod for Halo CE where I gave the Flood rocket launchers that could track targets. I'd be a hypocrite for crying about shotgun Flood in someone else's mod, especially when I made shotgun-wielding ELITES in the levels Two Betrayals and Keyes in my mod. Where do I find the programs to edit Halo 2 Vista for modding?
Hokie, I disagree about your hardest difficulty philosophy to an extent I think they should be your equal on the second hardest in a game with 4-5 difficulty settings, and should be stronger than you on the hardest That said, I agree with the statement that abilities should be congruent among the player vs enemies on all difficulties EDIT: Hokie, I agree with your opinion on Jackal snipers. Always have, always will
Fanamatakecick - I meant your equal in terms of offense. If they are stronger than you defensively, but _don’t_ deal out insane ammounts of damage, then that can be acceptable to some degree for a hardest difficulty. But if they are capable of things you are not, such as faster firing and more damage with the same weapons, then that enters the realm of cheap bullshit. Jamie said it himself: You don’t make a game harder by increasing damage, you make it harder by making it _faster._ You make projectiles move faster, and you make enemies react faster.
Fanamatakecick - I didn’t realize how wise Jamie is/was until semi-recently. I thought he was just a guy who loved video games. Nope. Dude’s got a Master’s degree.
I think that duel wielding damage nerf was only in effect in multiplayer. Also, side note; the duel wielding accuracy nerf only applied if you fire the two weapons at the same time. I believe if you shoot one weapon at a time, the accuracy remains the same as if you were not dual wielding
Then there would be no need for this mod. But that isn't the case. The Masterchief Collection version of Halo 2 plays exactly like the original Xbox game with only a few minor differences due to programming errors, such as Ultra Elites no longer dual wielding. It contains no fixes or improvements other than graphical enhancements.
You guya think this is easy when you mostly stay in cover 95% of the time, i personally feel like as an elite or spartan conatsntly stsying in cocer is just killing the joy, sure there should be some moments where using cover is necesary but not to every encounter so thats how i made the game, it feels easy until you charge your enemies with any weapon you desore cause theyre all useful and thats when the game potentially kills you unless you know what youre doing
Stop giving the grunt needlers! They cant take enough damage to survive long enough to complete the sueprcombine. Give them plasma rifles so they strip the shields while you headshot. AND CARRY A PLASMA PISTOL. The overcharge is very effective against sentinel beams. And Yes i am monday morning quarterbacking you but youre an engineer so you like granular details.
Well, by that logic, Grunts can’t take enough damage to survive long enough to strip the shield even with a Plasma Rifle. Really, it’s inconsequential. And no, I don’t need a Plasma Pistol for all situations involving shielded enemies.
@@Hokiebird428 Im going to go out on a limb and assume you are a NOVA kid who went to V-tech? I only say that based on the hokie being the v-tech mascot and you have that arlington VA accent
So it's halo 2, but easier? Doesn't seem very fun to me. The only real changes i would make from the base game is 1) making sure enemies can fire their weapons as fast as you can physically and 2) nerfing the damage of buggers because those things are just ridiculous.
@@HeliosDrive Yeah but I doubt he took the time to say... do exact values from 3 to 2. He just did a feel based conversion to what he felt like was close to CE by the looks of things
This mod would make the most logical sense on Legendary to begin with. It is widely regarded as the most unbalanced and bullshit Legendary difficulty spike in the entire series for a reason. On Easy-Heroic, I can understand this not being that much of a challenge. But, I would rather have an immersive and strategic experience rather than a hard one. This isn't Dark Souls to me, it is Halo. Trust me, I love difficulty. But, Halo 2's to begin with was already fucked due to being rushed and therefore, was not play tested.
Every game is "easy enough" after a while bud. That is kind of the point. If you aren't getting better at the game after a while than you are just wasting your time.
@@Hokiebird428 No I'm not, but thanks. I used to, but I don't anymore. Hell I did the game without ever picking up a plasma pistol (not really much of a brag, I still used plasma rifles). Once you've played the game enough you know how the AI works, you know where enemies spawn and you know the fastest ways to take them out. Outskirts used to be impossible for me, now it's a cakewalk. The only bit I still struggle with is the boss fight on Regret, which still makes me pull my hair out. I'm not bragging, I'm hardly the first to say this, but like all single-player games it does become easy if you spend enough hours into it.
@@lmaxwell2751 Yes but if a game is artificially difficult as many people criticise the game for being (and it is at times, there's no doubt, but not nearly as much as it gets discredit for) than skill goes out of the equation and it comes down to luck or ways of cheating. That's the point.
@@TheJayson8899 Saying that does not mean that the difficulty doesn't exist. And no, it is not entirely dependant on luck, and it is about skill. While I agree that Halo 2's Legendary campaign is the most trivial, I would be lying if I said that it wasn't bearable. It also isn't much of a point to say that a game is easy to play after a while, because that is the whole point of difficulty in the first place. I know I addressed this in my last comment but it still stands. Also, starting a comment with "it is easy enough as it is" is definitely an indirect brag. It comes across as someone who is so desperate to stroke his own ego and to demean those who have trouble with it. And, judging by your two comments, it is contradictory to say that it is least dependant on skill and it still very hard, and yet say above that it is "easy enough as it is". Just a note. But, it is also quite telling that you say you use the Plasma Rifle, memorize the spawns, and use exploits and yet you say it is "easy enough as it is". That is interesting, because if that was the case, why would you use those easy methods of winning in the first place? Just asking.

I tried the mod you told me,it worked, but then I accidentally made fatal changes and I can't fix them no matter what I do because the settings remain with the game even after uninstall redownload from internet and then install. All I would need you to explain to me(if you know the answer)is how I put everything from halo hacker v3.5 back to normal.
Awesome Stream Ma Dude
Why didn't Bungie release a downloadable patch to fix the balance issues after the initial Halo 2 launch?
Because this was back in 2004 when Xbox Live was less than year old. Downloadable patches didn't exist.
@@Hokiebird428 maybe not with the original Xbox, but it would've been a nice gift for the early adopter 360 owners besides a fix to the FMV issues....
11:12 that’s the problem I had on normal legendary. Fine. Until f**king hangar 2 and habitat delta.
There is a damage debuff for halo 2 dual wielding. I don’t think it’s as big though.
Also quarantine zone, for me, is harder than gravemind. That gondola was BS.
For the gondola, you can sit in the hole the enemy spawns in. They stop spawning once you’re in there
@@zedoktor979 for most ye but they drop for some spawns.

Are you busy with the holidays hence the comment of waiting a few weeks for the next half of the playthrough?
He said during the stream he's been busy with School and that he would most likely make a video about what he has been up to.
BlazionEvolved Alright, thank you! I may have missed that. The playthrough's too good.
To be honest I like flood that are immune to melee attacks
This guy is credible.
What is halo projectile?
Jared Bradley sadly it is very difficult to mod H2 Vista I would recommend waiting until the MCC is released on PC.
Hokie, I disagree about your hardest difficulty philosophy to an extent
I think they should be your equal on the second hardest in a game with 4-5 difficulty settings, and should be stronger than you on the hardest
That said, I agree with the statement that abilities should be congruent among the player vs enemies on all difficulties
EDIT: Hokie, I agree with your opinion on Jackal snipers.
Hokiebird428
Jamie is a wise man that 343i can and should learn from
Fanamatakecick - I didn’t realize how wise Jamie is/was until semi-recently. I thought he was just a guy who loved video games. Nope. Dude’s got a Master’s degree.

Wow. No wonder Halo is an amazing franchise
Well, was an amazing franchise. Infinite looks promising, and that says a lot when it’s coming from me
I think that duel wielding damage nerf was only in effect in multiplayer. Also, side note; the duel wielding accuracy nerf only applied if you fire the two weapons at the same time. I believe if you shoot one weapon at a time, the accuracy remains the same as if you were not dual wielding
theHostileNegotiator not in Halo 3 the guns a definitely nerfed.
@@bennettfender1546 In terms of damage; Even in the campaign? This I'll have to test.
theHostileNegotiator yep that is indeed the case much to my anger.
When are you streaming again
Hoki What if h2 anniversary was exactly like the h2 bungi intended to be?
Then there would be no need for this mod. But that isn't the case. The Masterchief Collection version of Halo 2 plays exactly like the original Xbox game with only a few minor differences due to programming errors, such as Ultra Elites no longer dual wielding. It contains no fixes or improvements other than graphical enhancements.
@@Hokiebird428 yeah that's true thanks for your input
take out ability for heretic elites to melee
Hokie is a living aimbot I swear.
Is this on a PC or did you play this on the old Xbox?
This is on my PC using an Xbox controller.
I like how the thumbnail is Halo 3. Lol
It's gone.

Bruh. funniest shit ever
Sniper jackles can not kill you in one shot. I love that. I want that mod
I missed the stream

He should've just tried to match values to that of halo ce as close as he could
@@eldetpacko7401 Wasn't that the thing he kept mentioning that he was trying to do, why also remaining faithful to 2's faster pace?
@@HeliosDrive Yeah but I doubt he took the time to say... do exact values from 3 to 2. He just did a feel based conversion to what he felt like was close to CE by the looks of things
@@eldetpacko7401 He's modded both CE and 2. You'd think he'd have access to those values.
No thanks. Game's easy enough as it is after awhile.
Every game is "easy enough" after a while bud. That is kind of the point. If you aren't getting better at the game after a while than you are just wasting your time.
Trixmay 988 - If you think Halo 2 on Legendary is easy, you’re skipping encounters instead of fighting.
Yeah, this thumbnail looks way better hokie.
