I'm still hearing that the water temperature at the bottom is cold. It does seem to finally be warming up a little, but not as much as you would think with all the hot weather we've had. They say they're reading a lot of fish down there though. Keep at it. They'll start biting eventually.
@@WorldVagabond2024 I really like fluke fishing also plus other fish. . I usually go out of Port Monmouth on my boat. If you would like like to join me for a day of fishing let me know. Capt Ken
If your getting more fish on bait and your fishing deep water that water temp has probably low to mid 50’s at the bottom. If your fishing shallow jigs may be better but stick with what works. Nice job.
Bunch a dudes in their 50s....I wouldve fit right in...Catching Hump Backs we call them here in Atlantic City...I win pools all the time...I use real buffalo minnow and dash board them Hump backs...30 inches and better...I like the jig though..
I went to the Atlantic highlands on july 21st On the MI-JO ship.. (IF YOU WANT TO CATCH MORE FLUKE. USE REAL SQUID AS BAIT, you'll catch more trust me.. real bait is better
You can’t always assume real bait always works. Since the water temp is lower yes bait has and advantage and the fluke are more lethargic and not as aggressive. However once the water temp gets higher and the drift is ideal jigs more often out produce bait. But always use what your confident in.
As a USCG Captain since 1985 I will give ya info take it or not... Bring your fishing gear to Belmar aka: Shark River NJ. Exit 98 off the Parkway to fish on a partyboat for Fluke.. We fish rocks, wrecks, mountains, mussels and rough bottoms bring your Gulp I use White but others use all the crazy colors... I use Spro bucktails on the bottom and another hook 20" above the jig on a 2-3" dropper loop with a 6" Gulp worm.... On the bottom bucktail I put on a piece of squid or a 4" Gulp.because of the hair don't want the bottom jig too long ... Bounce the baits a bit then stop for min. then slow lift again for a bit and repeat .... ANOTHER way fishing rough bottoms is a 4-6-8 oz. sinkers on the bottom with 2 hooks baited with Gulp on a Hi-Low rig on 6" dropper loops fishing same Bouncing and waiting and bouncing.... This way if and when ya get snagged ya don't loose a $ 5.00 Spro jig just a sinker.... This time of the year fishing rough bottoms instead of sand ya will catch your Keepers.... I mated for Years out of Alt. Highlands and ya do get large fluke but only late season "Between the Channels".... If you listen to me you will get Larger Fluke.....be well and Keep America Great.........Just ask me questions if you have any..... MegaBait.
